Mom chose red non-looped shag carpeting for the living room. Walking on it caused foot and dog prints. Whenever anyone was coming over, I had to spend an hour brushing it with our poodle's dog brush hoping not to get called out be Mom for missing a spot. I really hated that rug.

Our house, built in 1964, had two couches made of vinyl in avocado green and burnt orange. We had the macrame plant hangers, our kitchen counters were avocado, and my favorite floor lamp had springs to fit tightly against the ceiling. Divided in thirds, there were 3 big lights you could swivel. Hard to describe, but so cool. I wish I had it today. We had wooden floors and got carpet later, not shag. Phone was rotary dial. A teenager, I had a blue fur bedspread. Gosh, I sure miss those days when everyone I knew was happy.

I still have a rotary phone, tv trays, a record player and a harvest gold refrigerator from my grandparents. I even have a harvest gold electric can opener. I had a bean bag chair as a kid in the 80's. To be fair, I live in the 100+ year old farmhouse my grandma was born and raised in.
Does anyone else remember shopping at places like Montgomery Wards?

I was a kid in the 70's. I had pink shag carpet in my bedroom.
I did not have a bean bag chair, But, wanted one.
We had wood paneling in our basement. My families home was built in 1976.
In our old house we had a black rotary phone, and we had a party line.
There were no beepers, no cell phones, and life was easier.
I had a lava lamp, and black lights and black light posters were everything in my bedroom.
We had an ugly yellow fridge and vinyl flooring.
We did not have tv trays.
Such great music in the 70's. I watched
American Bandstand and Soul Train on Saturdays.
My grandmother had a velvet pic of Elvis.
Ohh the harvest earthy colors - yuck!
We had a leather recliner in our basement, it was Dads!
    I'm 63 years old now.
Life was good back in the 7o's.
    I remember everything you showed.
I'd have to say the music in the 70's was awesome.
Some of my best memories included music.
I guess, my love of music has carried me thru my whole life, as I'm retired from years of working in rock and hip hop radio.
    Thanks for this video.

I think through the late 60’s and 70’s my parents had most of these styles and items one time or another wood paneling on an accent wall chocolate brown kitchen appliances, we had all of it but the wall to wall shag carpet. My mother’s friend got hers first, and when mom seen how much work went into keeping it looking nice with the sweeping , carpet raking and shampoo was expensive and there were 4 children , She decided against it. We did have a couple shag throw rugs though. This bought me so many happy memories growing up. Thank you❤

I was just a little girl back in the 70's and it was so much more prettier than this boring ole gray we have today. A little bit of gray is fine, but gray walls, gray furniture, grey wood flooring is too much. It reminds me of a jail cell, a dog pound, or a casket. De....pressing!! 😐😐😐 😂 I miss the 70's decor..I even loved the country look, I loved the red and black decor too. Remember when they had ceramic black bulls, the Spanish look? That was cool too in the 70's. I definitely remember the avocado green, orange, or yellow appliances, countertops in the kitchen, and telephones. I still love wicker furniture. 😊 Thank you for taking me down memories lane. I wish I would come back. 💚🧡💛🤎😊

Ha! These things still exist in homes! My house in 2024 (built'78-'81) still has popcorn ceilings, shag carpeting in two rooms and when I moved in, it had Harvest Gold stove and side by side refrigerator. I got a Harvest Gold laundry set and the dryer is still here. I have many items purchased from Montgomery Wards still around. In the 89s my boyfriend and I had an apartment that was probably built in the '60s and not refurnished since. It had two tone green shag carpeting and avocado green kitchen countertops and gold glass hanging lifts with chains. We had a waterbed too. Where I grew up in '60s-70s, my parent's last house had a garage that had been turned into a living room... With wood paneling walls. And we had outdoor carpeting in the bathroom. Its a bit better than regular carpeting because but had foam rubber backing and could be cleaned outside with suds and water and completely dried. We had Macrame plant holders with spider plants, a black Nagahyde sofa, yellow rotary phone in the kitchen, and our medicine cabinet had a razor drop in the back of it. 😊

Mom was a Contac paper pro. I really liked the brady boys grey panelling in their bedroom but because we didnt own at the time, she did my room in the grey panel contac paper. Looked beautiful.

We had a touch tone phone in 1970 because Jonesboro, AR was a test city. I still have most of my records. I had to search to find the needle for the phonograph. It still takes me back with the pops and clicks.

I bought an Avocado Refrigerator, electric range top, and double ovens in 1972 to get rid of the old gold appliances in CA. I kept that refrigerator for thirty years. Now, they go out in about seven years.

Had relatives who decorated their whole house from craft fairs. The list of things they had typical of the 70's could go into the hundreds; from dolls with dried apple faces to Keene painting knock offs.

I have most of them in 2024. Paneling brown, orange and yellow flooring from the 70’s , bean bag chair. And a Bart Simpson rotary phone. Still have a record player in a suitcase. Not from the 70’s an iron key that opens one of my doors.

One word comes to mind and it's TACKY. Also, water beds were terrible, they sucked all the warmth out of your body and wreaked your back, and that annoying sloshing! I don't miss any of it.

@moonectar Thanks for yours allowance. I never could to opportunity to try water bed but can imagine would to be on those: they be able should drain all warmth from my body. Now I can tell I was right. I remember what has saying Columbo (some sort of): It was quite an experience. LOL.

Everything is Impersonal these days even the Myriad of people playing on their cell phones when they come over to visit, and everywhere else! We used to talk a lot. Social media has seriously wrecked everything. What a hypocrite; I play on my cell phone in waiting rooms! I just don’t play with it anywhere else. If someone comes over and starts playing on their phone, I feel like taking it and throwing it as hard as I can across the room! Now that is disrespectful! Come over to visit! Play with your phone at home! … Is everything really in black and gray??? I’m grateful I can’t see it! Nor the used Needles that are now litteried around everywhere! Also most people I knew in the 70s had yellow kitchens. They used to brag about them. That’s how I know.

It’s still feels like my childhood plus my early marriage and babies. Silver Cross Prams with a sun canopy to protect the baby not forgetting the cat net while everyone else thought it was a fly net. We also got a trim phone when we got married. I had a sunflower clock on my wall which was set against the most garish wallpaper. We had several lava lamps.

My first sport jacket was burnt orange. Worse than that, it was double-breasted. I wore it on TV for an episode of High School Bowl. We lost.
