I just suscribed to your channel, as a kid in the 80's I read all those Hit Parader, Creem Metal, Circus, Faces and Rock Scene magazine, I spent a small fortune buying these mags. I kept them for years and in the 2000's I finally just gave them all way, I regret it now but I had a family I could not justify keeping all this stuff. Fun trip down memory lane
1984 one of the greatest years in metal! Powerslave, Defenders, Warning... I've got that poster of Priest still! No idea where I got it from. Keep it in my Defenders vinyl cover sleave.
I love when you go through magazines. I like your take on Billy Squier. My husband and I have had discussions about how when that video came out we were both probably 14, and neither of us saw a problem with it. As a teenager I loved that video and I love the song. It's only as an adult that I look back on it and thought it was a little off-putting. As a kid, though, that video rocked.
I think my first issue was fall 1986 i think and that issue covered most of these bands. The Musicade ads for T-shirts and patches. Metal skull rings oh man. I miss those days
I most definitely had this issue of hit parader ! The fall of 84 was monumental for me! Finally got laid on my 16th birthday, got my driver's license, and a 1979 Trans Am black on red With an orange and red bird on the hood, t-tops, it was a real pussy wagon! That was a lyric from Greased Lightning from Grease ! Ha ha, my sister and husband took me and my friends to Ted Nugent on the World Penatration Tour! We got a flyer at a previous concert, promoting this concert with Bon Jovi opening! Well when we got there, Bon Jovi wasn't there in a band called The Nerve opened for Ted! There's probably 15 people in the nerve! Ever heard of them , cuz I haven't heard anything about them since of I saw them in concert! Ted was awesome! It was a great concert! And yes you got me tied up in love with played on the radio here non-stop at the Nashville Rock station 103 KDF! Saw Billy squier with Nazareth as the opener in '82,, I could go on and on about this magazine, thank you so much for posting these I haven't seen that magazine over 40 years probably!
huge squier fan as well. signs of life def went a little to heavy on the synth i still like the album. the last song on the album sweet release is one my all time favorite squier songs. give it a listen again. i think bllly problem was 3 fold. one def think video played a part in his decline. two billy never really promoted himself he was never on shows like american bandstand or the american music awards the mtv awards even just presenting an award and three he didnt have an image that kids could get into like motley crue with shout at devil imagery def leppard with the union jack shirts iron maiden with eddie. his image was t shirt and jeans. look at cover of his 1986 album enough is enough 1986 was the height of the neon 80s and his album cover is close up picture of him with a beard its looked like cover of a 1970s dan fogelberg album
Nope, Judas Priests, Sad Wings of Destiny is my favorite Priest album! That being their 2nd album, that’s when they started having awesome CHUGGIN riffs! Love that album! 🤘🏼✌🏼
Sad wings is probably number 2 for me. It was truly amazing. In some ways it actually sounds like a different group than Screaming for Vengeance. The fact that four songs on Unleashed in the East were taken from Sad Wings says just how great it was.
@@audiomover Yeah, I’d could say the same, the Screamin would prolly be my number 2. But honestly I don’t like having favorite bands really any more just cuz the older I get I realize there a lot of awesome bands out there that have super uniquely kick ass music. But if I had to do faves I’m sure I could think of a top 5 or 10…..🤣🤘🏼✌🏼
Hey Mr. Audio, what’s your oldest Hit Parader Magazine ya have? Cuz jeez, some years back, maybe a decade or so I picked up an old Hit Parader mag from 1979 and it had Cheap Trick on the cover. 🤘🏼✌🏼
Hard Rock to me is Van Halen and Heavy Metal is Judas Priest……Don’t ask me why……Maybe cuz Hard Rock is more up beat sounding and Metal is darker sounding. If ya ask me what a certain band is, I’ll tell ya if it’s Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal or Country! 🤣 But it’s just my opinion and how the sound of that bands or music sounds & feels to me anyway. But what do I know? SHIT! 🤣😂 🤘🏼✌🏼
@@audiomover Don't you miss those days when rockstars were cool and the only way to find out about their lives were through these magazines like RIP,Circus,Hit Parader,Metal Edge, etc? It was exciting to read things like "New Ozzy album coming this September..." . I remember standing in our local magazine shop ,browsing through the magazines until the store owner yelled at me to buy something or get out. Lol. Those were the days.
… yea … the Queensryche EP was great. The album was definitely a letdown. Never bought another QR album. Like so many records, bought the EP based solely on the cover art.
Was a junior in High-school in 84 . Great year for music ! Thanks Robert 👌
I had that one. I had most of them from about '83-'87.
After all these decades, the covers and pics are still in my memory.

I understand that all too well. Thanks for subscribing! I'm glad you enjoy it.

I agree with on the Billy Squire subject.

What I remember in 1984...
the DEEP PURPLE reunion
I appreciate that album way more now then I did back then.

I don't think we have much pre 1980.

Hmm. About the mustache theory. Do you think Lemmy became such a bad ass because of his mouth monkey? Hmmm...
OMG, I think you just uncovered the secret!
