- First use of vintage corning vision frying pan.
Please note that this glass pan is specifically designed for stovetop use. Do not attempt this unless you are sure your glassware is designed for this. Glassware not meant for stovetop use can fracture/explode if improperly heated.
For anyone who is watching rhis video, yes he is totally right, in order to make this happen you must use BUTTER, not oil or any kind of oil for that matter, personally i am using the exactly same pan for over a decade, eggas, steaks, fry fish, etc you name it, never a single issue! - much love from Berlin!🇩🇪🤙🏻
this helps. i got my vision pan two weeks ago and used corn oil, and it was bad. egg stuck to glass, just kooked up.
i got the pan out this morning and can confirm butter is the lubricant it needs for cooking success. also. waiting for the pan to get hot enough before adding the oil! thank you! i knew pre 1982 corningware and pyrex wouldn’t lead me astray!
I am looking for a 9 inch vision pan but they aren't selling them ???
You can find it on eBay
Just found one today at Goodwill, $7, no longer trust teflon after few scratches. Found a old corning 2qt that has some kind of goldish tint to it, be great for mayonnaise chicken tenders
Your gas flame looked to be too high.
FYI: If you have the 1.5L saucepan the lid from that will also fit the 7" skillet!
Likewise, the lid from the 4.5L/5L saucepot or dutch oven will also fit the 10" skillet.
Visions cookware is my absolute favorite. Love finding it in thrift stores (just avoid the non-stick versions and anything that looks really worn. Super worn/damaged visions is what’s likely to break/explode when mistreated).
What's wrong with the non-stick versions?
@@Nyle95 they are less durable due to the coating being prone to scratching or wearing off. This is true of most types of non stick cookware.
@@lisacain3741 I found a set of brand new virtually unused visions in an old lady's cupboard that had moved out. Scored the whole set including the non-stick pan. It looks like it's never been used but I'm still sketched about cooking in it because of the early non-stick technology
I just love mine. I do fried eggs in mine and after I find my windshield ice scraper and rip them loose from the bottom, they are the best I've ever eaten??
@@Kevin_SausageLOL Ah yes I remember my forst few attempts at frying eggs 🫣🤣 The trick to frying eggs on the Vision pan is heat. Heat it up on med/low heat like you would a stainless steel pan - so that a drop of water beads on the surface. Then add your butter and crack your eggs. Leave them be for a few seconds and they separate from the pan themselves 👍🏽
you over did it, next time take it of the heat half way
Found a never used one at my new house! Excited to try it out. I've never seen glass frypans before.
I have one of these I bought at a thrift store a while back I’ve used it a few times for cooking eggs. It works pretty well. I also have one that has a non stick coating I’ve watched videos where people have stripped that off using drano but I haven’t tried that on mine yet
I have one of that but I'm scared to use is it.
Edit: I used it.
Glad you faced your fear 😊
hello...if its of glass then how it doesn't break at those high temeperatures on the cooking stove?
Because it's not glass. It's a material that's sort of a hybrid known as glass-ceramic. It's what is used on certain flat top electric stoves. There are also heat resistant glass known as borosilicate glass that is used for glass teakettles.
You're burning the shit out of those eggs
Nice! This is now on my list of items to look for.
Visions is made of pyroceram, it is not same as pyrex glass. Pyroceram is the same glass fire place and oven glass are made of and are extremly resistant to thermal shock. Ive taken a pot of frozen water, in visions, placed it on stove and turned burner on high. No issues because it is pyroceram. Side note, I like to melt pewter in visions because when it cools it does so slower than a metal pan and tin crystals form.
I thought this same. Thanks for the info
IT’s luminarc???? Only luminarc not break I have the pot of luminarc as the same color 5.L I use it a lot on gas. Those Easy to clean
A little butter - adds 1/4 cup butter - MERICA 😅
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for!
Did it take much longer to cook?
Why I am war reading corona virus 😆
Con esa cantidad de mantequilla seguro en ningún lado se pega
Hahahaha
Para mi punto de vista estan muy buenas si uno les da bu uso
With the egg sticking to the side I'm in fear of cooking sauces like curry, bolognese, or soup sticking to the bottom?
You just let it simmer or lower your heat and stir occasionally. Even stainless steel pans could get something stuck in the bottom if your heat is too high and you don’t stir every now and then
Can you tell me where I can get this frying pan? Thank you and God bless!
Amazon😊
I remember buying one because I thought it would be good and non stick. Cooking over a propane gas ring (No gas mains supply where I am) I just couldn't get it to work well at all, there were very hot spots over where the flame hit the glass, the rest of the pan bottom stayed barely warm. So eggs etc. would stick to the hot bits while nothing else would cook. I ended up throwing the thing away and going back to metal pans. I am surprised to see that they can work pretty well!
Se puede gritar en el sarten como por ejemplo hacer papas fritas oh tortilla de papas gracias
Excellent! Exactly what I was curious to see! RUclips is amazing that way. Thank you for sharing
Can't stand waffle bottom - insanely hard to clean. Did Corning ever produce waffle-free glass frying pan?
For me it doesnt affect cleaning at all. As easy as anything else.
@@svtcontour how??
@@tammiecheramie837 You mean how do I clean it? Like anything else. I pour a bit of water and dish soap in it while its still fairly warm (not hot) and I let it soak for a few mins then I clean. I do that with anything. Its all the same.
Geniales
Vision is safer than any metal cookware
Safer how? In what manner?
@@user-hz5yb4bh5v No metal shavings in your food...
@@user-hz5yb4bh5v some folks have sensitivity or allergies to the nickel metal in most stainless steel cookware, and some folks don't like using aluminum for various reasons...

Omelette looks delicious and enjoy cooking with Corning ware!
Me encanta
En donde puedo encontrar esas cacerolas por que Liverpool ya no las venden
En Ebay.
The parts I wanted to see were those you skipped over! I want to see the egg sticking to the pan!
I love glass pan
Bruh, you burnt the omelette
Nah !!
Does anyone know what material this is made from…is there anything toxic in the process of making these glass pans??
It's made of pyroceram, they're pretty safe iirc
Thank you
It's a Ceramic Glass compound like other white Corning ware. Both Ceramic and the glad are of non-toxic by themselves and when combined. RUclips "Corning Vision ware" for product info.
My mom had these things in the 80s she used them all the time
Meh, do you really need to use so much butter on this pan for make a omelette? In a normal pan I put just a 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil and is more than enough for having a non stick surface
Never turn the heat up higher than medium low, I love my visionware! My question is I wonder if I can use it on an electric hot plate.?🤷
SoCal Gal I have 😬
Absolutely!
why never turn higher than medium low? Is there toxicity concern?
@@carlhammill5774 I think it's because of risk of it exploding.
I don't recommend glass pans, because even if you put on the lowest heat, it still burns really bad
No it doesn't
Do you have gas?
What's the difference between vintage Corning Vision and Visions cookware?
No difference. The name was changed in 1983 in the USA due to a trademark conflict.
Ja ja ja js
Love this glass frying pan
Question, what happens if you put that while hot under running water?
As long as it is pyroceram it is fine. Pyrex is not pyroceram. Visions is the only clear pyroceram, all other is the white corningware. Note, not all white corningware products are pyroceram. I've frozen water in visions and taken it out of freezer and placed it on stove and turned it on high. No issues at all.
Your only suppose to use low heat on these glass pans, high chances of exploding.
Evan Patterson no... You may be thinking of Pyrex. Visions will handle more heat than you can typically produce in a residential kitchen.
You can use Visions on higher heat. It’s pyroceram and not borosilicate like Pyrex.
