0:28 I finally find this film! The first time I saw it was around 10years old (1995), I have told this bug to many of my friends and no one trust me. And finally I thought this is just my dream screen. Anyway thank you, it’s real.
I also found a glitch. When you spam Start from the title screen, there's a chance that you paused on the first frame of gameplay, and when you unpause, there's also a chance that the music won't play. The glitch ends when you enter a new room or finish a level.
- The "out of bounds" glitch will work on both autoscrollers (2-3 and 4-3). - There are only worldwide releases for this game (v1.0 (W) and v1.1 (W)). I don't know how wide-spread v1.0 is. - If you want to see if you have v1.0, I don't know if it says so on the cartridge (probably not). But go to the site called tcrf (the cutting room floor) and go to the super mario land page and compare the death sound effect. You will know which version of the game you have just by listening to Mario die.
By holding left when exiting the pipe in the second bonus zone in 1-1, Mario will play his sliding left animation while moving to the right side of the screen until he is no longer on it. Then, the player is softlocked in the bonus zone until they stop holding left.
Theres a glitch i discovered when you go to any bonus stage (best place is the first bonus stage in 1-1) and go to the pipe but make sure your charactor is still visable and hold left on the d pad, you have froze the pipe transition
it looks like when mario is sliding on a wall to walljump, like in the later games (like new super mario bros DS) (timestamp: 5:04, putting that here because it doesn't work for me (maybe cuz comment is from 7 years ago))
Sweet, the scream glitch was shown. There was a glitch not shown that is similar to 4:46. It's when you crouch jump to get through small spaces that are not ground level.
I beat it without too much trouble, but damn this game was weird enough to give me anxiety as a kid. I had already played other, younger Mario games by that point so getting a copy of this one after was certainly strange.
Something about the length of one sound effect to added to another, resulting in it reading sound data from another sound or garbage data. The 1-up sound is one example, but Pokemon has an interesting and creepier sound glitch.
@mugg1991: One glitch that you showed was not a glitch, when you stay on the roof, in a castle level end reach the ending, it still trigger the ending, I guess they simply remember what happen when you did that in Super Mario bros. and Super Mario bros. the lost levels, so you get soft lock, and have to wait for the timer to run out.
@NitroGenesisTAS None of these can be abused in a TAS (aside from the walljump that almost made it into the TAS I made. I'm also making a hardmode TAS, but it's on hold atm.)
Thanks! I've actually got an account in The Cutting Room Floor, so I'm able to help with some "game data pages" like the v1.0 and v1.1 Pokemon Stadium differences (mainly Jynx's face, due to the racial controversy behind it).
I have this as a virtual console game for my 3DS and in the manual it says that those seahorse things can't be killed with superballs. *chuckle, chuckle*
5:05 - So they actually had an animation for Mario grappling walls that was never used, but somehow you managed to trigger it via a glitch? This might mean they had plans to have walls Mario could latch on to, but for whatever reason this was never implemented, but the game code is still there! I love these kinds of obscure glitches!
For the "Out of Bounds" glitch, will it only work in 4-3? I'm talking about the v1.0 version, and are all of the v1.0 Super Mario Land cartridges the first edition Japanese version? Or are there some U.S. versions with this glitch?
Hey mugg the other day I was playing this on my 3DS and the game just randomly crashed in world 2-1. I had a star and then got a mushroom shortly after. I think what happened was I got the mushroom on the same frame that the star invincibility ended. Have you heard of this before?
+im glower I can't get it to work but thanks for telling What version of the game did you use? tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Land#Revisional_Differences Was it the normal 3ds or the new one?
@Hacker9122 As far as I know, you can't read it from the catridge. tcrf(dot)net/Super_Mario_Land This page documents a sound difference between v1.0 and v1.1, so maybe this will help.
Are my headphones on the Fritz, or are other people noticing that the sounds are coming through different channels, most notably with the drum beats in the tune around 1:02 alternating ears every beat?
I played it a lot when it was new and never encountered any of these. Any game can be made to look glitchy in a video. It's not a particularly glitchy game.
It's a bit complicated to explain the entire procedure, but the short summary is, I played on an emulator (Visual Boy Advance-rr, which is now outclassed by Bizhawk), using movie files i.e. pre-recorded input files, recorded AVI at raw compression while playing back the input in said emulator, then edited that AVI and compressed it to MP4 using x264.
thats because it's in color just on black and white screen. aka the Game boy ur are using one of the fallowing Ds, Ds lite, Game boy Andanced, Sp. GBM.

xD 👍

I have this as my whatsapp tone. 🤣
i think this game was the 1st game i ever played, i was like 4-5 years old and that was about 20 or 19 years ago
You ain't never lied .. I gotta stiff neck playing this ALL DAY .. it used to be parents, but these kids just do not get it.

2:11 I GIVE MY COINS
It's amazing
4:48 That sounds like that one teleport sound or something from Pokémon...or maybe Mega Man Xtreme's weird death sound!
- The "out of bounds" glitch will work on both autoscrollers (2-3 and 4-3).

Dan Man10 Gaming nice find
There is another glitch where sometimes you can go through a ? Block or a normal block by running but its really pointless
5:04
It looks like Mario is grabbing the side of the wall.
Obama man no it’s not wtf
yes it does, it looks like an actual feature

Wow amazing series of glitches! How did you ever come up with all these?!
THE NOSTALGIA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I beat it without too much trouble, but damn this game was weird enough to give me anxiety as a kid. I had already played other, younger Mario games by that point so getting a copy of this one after was certainly strange.
Why anxiety? 😳
4:23 can someone explain the noise? Why does that happen?
The same reason why the glitched 1-up sound exists
Something about the length of one sound effect to added to another, resulting in it reading sound data from another sound or garbage data. The 1-up sound is one example, but Pokemon has an interesting and creepier sound glitch.
3:42
Hey cool, those spikes don’t hurt Mario.
You broke the game so bad XD
懐かしいゲームですね
5:05 WHEN WERE YOU ABLE TO CLING TO WALLS?!?!
Its actually just a sprinting turn animation.

There is a glitch that you can move the fists sideways as well.
Well now this game is on Nintendo Switch Online. Time to check if these glitches still hold up!
5:05 - So they actually had an animation for Mario grappling walls that was never used, but somehow you managed to trigger it via a glitch? This might mean they had plans to have walls Mario could latch on to, but for whatever reason this was never implemented, but the game code is still there!

+Mangs no that's just his turn around animation
Mangs no it's when you sprint then immediately turn around you slide 😒
kinda like the "sliding hammer suit" glitch in smb3
@@adiginist exactly!
This comment kills my brain cells
The manual that came with the original cartridge also says so.
This is like a wizard mario using mad magic
In world 2-2 I was walking on the water fro some reason after I stomped the goomba
whoa, that last clip is weird. what happens? are you able to wall cling like that because the pellet is still onscreen?
I knew the one at 3:50, but all the others were new to me!
I never knew this game had so many glitches... Well maybe is because I didn't like notice them.
I only knew the crawling in small spaces and the death sound glitch.
The game was more difficult than it could seem :)
what am i doing in my life
I did a glitch in the game once. Invisible ground.
For the "Out of Bounds" glitch, will it only work in 4-3? I'm talking about the v1.0 version, and are all of the v1.0 Super Mario Land cartridges the first edition Japanese version? Or are there some U.S. versions with this glitch?
These annotations are way too short to read.
1:31 Nico, how did you miss that?
I guess we can add "male s*x worker" to the list of occupations Mario has taken on if what's happening at 2:31 is anything to go by.

I will look into this

but thanks for telling
What version of the game did you use?
tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Land#Revisional_Differences
Was it the normal 3ds or the new one?
+mugg1991 I'll try on the original hardware
As far as i know the 3DS version is the 1.0 version of the game. And he's probably using the 1.1 v.
0:53 HOW ARE YOU NOT DRIFTING! i walk but i still drift!
I once (at he end of the first level) exploded, Mario parts everywhere, and got 99x lives...
Lucas Reimer You’re joking right?
@Hacker9122
As far as I know, you can't read it from the catridge.

Yes, this game makes use of left and right channel audio.
Also, version differences: tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Land#Audio
how did you grab a wall
Lol I do the glitch in 1-3 all the time
@r4rev
replace (dot) with .
paste it in your browser.
There are no emulation glitches in this video
mugg1991 4:00 This ohne can’t be done when you play normal because there’s no way that you can shoot that fast without cheating
@@roonilwazlib5402 i think he means that it wasn't done on an emulator. A cartridge was used

Super Mario Land is basically a pretty buggy game.
super glitch land
Faved. Sorry for double post, I made a mistake with submitting my comment. (might be a glitch on my computer)
0:16,1:15-1:16 Modo Deus??
These are amazing.
This video's older than I am 😭
warning: people are defending mario land 1
thats the name of the powerup
interesting
they are superballs actually XD
+mugg1991 1:09 Can this glitch only be done when moving back and forth a bunch? 1:31 Couldn't this be used for speed running?
+cat8752
Yes, only by back and forth movement.
No, it's slower.
Ah oh well.
何をしたいんだいったい
Gameboy ou Gameboy Pocket é um Emulador grande como Gameboy ou Emulador pequeno como Gameboy Pocket de tela
So basically this game was rushed out to be available at launch.
as is any game.
I played it a lot when it was new and never encountered any of these. Any game can be made to look glitchy in a video. It's not a particularly glitchy game.
the weirdness of this game is probably more explaned by not knowing how to get the most out of the hardware yet, like comparing mario 1 with mario 3
4:34 is funny for some reason
This glitches are really odd...
LOL wut. could these be abused in a TAS?
Thanks for sharing.
Lol another game that I've played on the 100 in 1 carts
HOW DO U RECORD THIS!? bc i dont know how to record on GB or GBC

Shinx7009 You forgot to mention the game boy colour.
oh thanks! but, also becarful because that could make people angry on teh internet but i say "Thanks dooooood"
The first "glitch" is not a glitch it more like the enemy is invulnerable to fireball
if it's supposed to be invulnerable, why does it accept 1 ball and then none?
Hardly seems intentional...
mugg1991 Youre right on that point...
Neat!
😂😂🤣👏
