- 26th étape of the Camino Francés from Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro, walking the «Camino Duro» over Pradela (decision at 00:17).
All étapes/videos to Santiago de Compostela are going to be uploaded over the next days and weeks.
After many journeys on the Camino de Santiago in the past ten years, this time the focus lies on the video project. Thus not a lot of stopping and exploring during the étapes (some breaks and encounters are cut out).
COVID-19: Filmed in the summer of 2020 when Spain and the Camino including most albergues were open again for a few weeks after the first lockdown. Masks in all albergues, bars/restaurants and when crossing cities. There will likely never again be as few people on the Camino as in summer of 2020.

Cebreiro! My happiest day in both Caminos (2016 and 2022)! Even if it's hard, but it's SO beautiful!
And how beautiful is the "Camino Duro"! I thought to walk it in 2022 but my knee was still in pain then I decided to walk in the valley as usual. Thank you a lot for showing the beauty of this path!

I had very bad knee pain this last summer and had to skip the last kilometers of the Camino Norte, but I hope I can finish it next summer.
I took the alternative route out of Villfranca by mistake. It was so hard and seemed like an eternity to complete!!! Up to this day I don't know how I got confused......Love your videos.

Hi Furio, thank you so much for watching. In some years I have seen arrows showing the way up and in other years I think there were no signs at all.
I like this way very much, but going down to Trabadelo is quite hard on my knees.
You are like an energized. Going and going hahaha 🤣 I hope I can spot a place to stop and eat in your great videos.
😂 the stops are cut out. I try to overlap and cut them as smoothly as possible, they are hard to spot when you don`t know at what times to look closely.
There are so many beautiful spots to take a rest and eat a picnic😄
Thank you. I like the look of that alternative route. Our last Camino was in the summer of 2015 and it was sleeting as we arrived at O’Cebreiro. Such varied experiences. Great work again.

Der Anfang und das Ende dieser Etappe einfach nur wunderschön. Entlang der Strasse durchs Tal eine sehr gefährliche Strecke. Aber auch hier glaube ich gibts eine Alternative, oder?
Die Alternative, die ich kenne, ist der Weg über den ersten kleinen Berg (ca. 00:17-5:00). Auf diesem Bergweg kann ein langes Stück an der stark befahrenen Talstrasse umgangen werden. Danach sind mir bislang keine anderen Alternativen bekannt, es ist aber gut möglich, dass es noch welche gibt. Ich würde es jedenfalls auch begrüssen😄

Is it really as steep and tiny as it looks during the climbs? I will be doing this in the next days and am not in great shape - very afraid I won’t make it. 🥲
