Was a Junior at SUNY Buffalo - Accounting major. My buddy studying accounting at UMD suggested I check out UMD and consider transferring there. This was the weekend I went. Saw JGB on campus and the next morning went to the Maryland / Miami football game. Maryland won by one point then went to the Vous to celebrate. So I transferred. My memories of the many shows I saw from 1979 to 2004 are fading but I do remember digging Love In The Afternoon. Saw Brian Auger and Paul Barrere a couple years later at the same gym. Would love to hear a recording of that show. But I digress. Attending the Dead and Co. money grab this weekend at the forum. Sorry Bobby. What else can you call it? $450 face value for floor seats and no Jerry. I used to pay $12.50. Most paid was $75 for New Years 1980. But, seriously, thanks for the memories. And thanks to the taper. I know it wasn’t easy getting your gear into the show. Nice sound for a 1982 JGB audience recording.
Come see Dead & co at the Gorge in Washington (Yeah its also in a town called George, so its the Gorge at George, Washington lol) Its beautiful, like a sunset at the grand canyon with a stage over the river valley, unbelievable. But Dead and co was only like 60 a night, that price would have covered the weekend, and camping too here just a year or so ago
Jerry at his best jerry gracea band tottly in his comfort zone really enjoying playing having fun love the dead but. The jerry gracea band the best jerry realy miss ya your music will live on for ever and ever and ever
JGB played a roller skating rink 8-16-1984 😅 I would have loved to see Jerry play some of these smaller venues in the early 80s. Never got into the whole stadium music thing. I did get to see Ratdog play at a few different theaters and performing arts centers. No better way to experience Dead music with what feels like a small group of hardcore fans who are all in on the secret.
Alright, first off this place was nothing more that a basketball ball old school gym. Was awesome! Tim Bottrell and Craig Mitchell and me, in Tim’s Camaro… did not have tickets. Managed to get mine from some college kids, mind you me and Tim were seniors in high school and Craig was only a sophomore. What great show! One of the few I’ve not been able to find a recording of until now… thank you again.
I love this audience recording. Thanks for the upload and the photo. You usually get great photos of Jerry and the band with many of the youtube uploads. Great to see the view from stage looking back at the faces of that visibly amped up pre-show 82' audience w/ the lights still on in the coliseum. . Jerry is waaaay on for this show, Some lyric fumbles, of course, but an up tempo show, very much so during a few numbers that usually are more throttled back.
This particular photo is just awesome to behold ..I love to look at the various crowds through the years ...I think it makes me pickup on how we can see, in the fashion and the way the humans carry themselves and dress ,ect, how rapidly and yet subtly, our culture changes ...these photos need to be preserved at all costs lol
00:27:21 Music like this is why Jerry will always be immortal. Unbelieveable stellar riffs! 00:37:13 Audience loves it. Upbeat Deal! 00:40:58 Again fire riffs by Jerry. The audience is like: AAAAAAAAAH! hahahaha I also like how Greg Errico is drumming. He really gives the whole night a great kick! 00:47:26 Beauty! 00:56:51 Amazing run! Later Melvin is really starting to shine and is surprising the audience with his sweetness! 01:08:48 Simple Twist of Fate 01:21:53 Tore Up Over You (with electric fire!!) 01:29:55 The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (very soulful) 01:39:06 Tangled Up in Blue 01:46:18 Reaching for the stars!! Jerry the explorer of melodies at full display! 01:51:38 Encore: Midnight Moonlight
This was fun! Immortal and irreplaceable. Even when people like John Kadlecik can perfectly imitate him, it is not him. I have actually been struggling with Jerry's absence lately with the realization again that its over and there is no going back.
@@photoslum Let's be happy that Jerry was around and gave so much amazing music to us. We can listen to it till we have to go. I am so happy that I am aware of Jerry Garcia. Most people don't know him. Imagine that! And the spirit is still there. Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and all the other guys gave the magic of music to the next generation. Daniel Donato is btw on a good way to do some serious jam music. He did a Dark Star with Bill Kreutzmann!
@@nataliezementbeisser1492 Sure, I get all of that and am glad for what we get but as fun as that all may be (also add in Melvin Seals GB and DSO and JRAD) but in the end, it all falls short. Its not being negative or any thing like that, but that if you saw shows, especially before the 90s when the scene was out of hand and some 1st sets could barely filled one side of a 90 minute tape (Maxell XLII 90) there was a magic that cant be replicated. That magic can be celebrated but not relived. The more years that pass, the further removed it becomes. I'm not recounting the past as some do as gloating, but as a frame of reference from my experiences. The early days of the Other Ones was cool. Further was hit or miss. The Dead was too short. As I write this, Simple Twist of Fate, starts... I get brought back to JGB 91 tour... powerful memories. I am happy with the music and memories and sharing stories. When do you get on board?
Thank you. Please find the 1982 Reseda Ca at Wolf and Ressmilers early and late show. About this same time. One of Jerry greatest. I know these things {🔥}:=} Jerry Saves

I was at this show, The tempo was accelerated by the Columbian influence, for certain. Thank you, so much for posting, Jerry at his finest!
I was there! Just turned 18 two days before.. senior in high school… third time I’d seen Jerry.. I could never find this tape, thanks!
I Salute you all !

Absolutely bonkers on fire performance by the band and Jerry

saw JGB at the Keystone Berkeley, CA. 1980. That place held only about 350 people.
@@bookmedia67 i saw Bobby and the Midnights at Lisner Auditorium in the fall of 1983… I found out about the show that morning, reading the newspaper…
