Oh man there are SO many GREAT JGB shows '85 and up, way to go. I LOVE the Grateful Dead Band but the JGB is just all its' own. these shows are unsurpassed
I was there. 🎉
Jerry was on fire in 83
The sky is blue, the birds will sing
That you are part of everything
Great show! Can't get too much JGB to supplement weeks of Grateful Dead listening. I'm curious though, is anybody else getting a "speedy" kind of vibe from this show. I feel like typical JBG shows are like a slow, cool draw. But this is seems faster. Perhaps it's a substance thing (not to be that guy, but eh). Nonetheless, this is indeed church.
+Justin Guinn Catfish John has the slow lull from the beginning, but by minute 5, Jerry is triple-timing and the rest of the band starts speeding up.
83. ..i mean very good chances your assumption is on the nose.
Disco Dead. The early ‘80’s were lol that.
I was proud to be his friend
Dino?
I was at this show and boy am I happy about that. ♥️🙏🏽😹
i was there with you! what a night
The Greatest of all times. Show me another man who can do what Jerry did.
Closest is Warren Haynes, got to see them both, I live near Warrens hometown. Love them both, goin to see the Mule in Charlotte next month. Like Jerry, Warren plays with a lot of different people but the Govn't mule boys are the best thing goin, peace bro
Johnny Mayer.....soaked in sarcasm

A very merry Jerry Day!
Salute.
My captain.
I am
Forever Grateful.

great sound and the band sounds great
I grew up loving guitarists but always was told Garcia was just a cult lsd leader with no talent. This is as good as SRV, and other high acclaim musicians guitarists. The bass player and Garcia going back and forth make this swing.
I worked for the "promoter" of this 2 act show. JG was not happy with everyone not leaving. Finally, they agreed on the premise that soon as the second ticket holder got in, the first could follow. Parrish was growing tired of the BS as was the promoter. So I brought a rented Cadillac, got JG into it and off we went to a small hotel right outside of SB. JG was still vibrating from the show and talked my ear off about SB when he was a kid. Cool dude but had a chemical romance from the pressure of it all. Hell, I had one and didn't tour the world. RIP JG
I don't Know how you did it or how to fix it but the times on the songs are Representative of the song length and not the song position.
Sound quality is a bit crunchy, but give it a shot!

Ain't nothin' better than smoked catfish. The question is, what end do you light?
Fuck yes. Wish I saw this, alas I was only 13. I lived in SB 91-99 some of the best years of my life. Thanks
Practice and all the years a being on the road the fruits of years of hard jamming can be heard on this night😅
LOl. It's like Jerry did a huge line right before they went onstage and it kicked in half way through Catfish John. Never heard them play it this fast. Wow.
On the $$ exactly. I mean shit it is early 80s
Bout 5:12 it KahtHooked On 😅
I Thank GOD for all the music Jerry shared with the Planet,

83 JGB is just so sick!! (~);}
Mike OBrien early eighties jerry is so dank
it's so fuckin greasy cheesy dank dirty sick coked and h'd the fuck out man early eighties jgb is tuned in smoked out dropped down fucked up and as trippy as a 3 legged dog!
Wholeheartedly agreed. '80-'83 are absolutely primo
Unless I'm confusing with a year or two prior I think I was there yet? Wow that cut at the beginning of 'Love In The Afternoon'is sad; they were clearly about to start the tune. However I'd be lying if I'd say I haven't made some nearly as bad or worse taping blunders!
Augy,
San Diego
Thank You ! Excellent performance. Jerry G Philly
This person is me. Funny I was looking at the comments and saw my name. 5 years later and love the Rhythm section. Yo GNU is the best. An Archive Detective of the digital age.

Dusty little bear greatful
holy shit i think this was my very first show... if im right i remember the 2 shows. there was some problem with the ticket money or something.. the entire crowd refused to leave after the first show.. wish i could remember the details but it was pretty funny they just wouldnt leave. so the crowd saw both shows i was so stoned in the balcony..
+Anne Moonglow That's right, they added a second show at a very late date. A flier was passed around during the first show saying to stay in your seat and everyone did. The feeling was that the first show was cut short because of the second shows late addition. Finally they compromised and let us stay if we went to the back and let the people who bought tickets for the second show get seated. It wasn't sold out so there was plenty of room for everyone Two for the price of one JGB--- can't be beat.
+riotous484 wow, thanks for the details!! i lived in sb at the time, the arlington was a beautiful theater. i had taken a lot of acid and was in the balcony, i could not remember how to get out of the balcony! then i was leaving and the deadheads were saying 'come on tour' 'come on tour' and i was saying 'oh my gosh i could never do that!' i think i was just 16 or something. i went to see the gd at the ventura fairgrounds just a few months later and was on tour for the next ten years. :}} what an intro.
SWEEEEEEEET!!!
Warren Gang I second that emotion!!
Thanks for putting these up! Some of the best stuff I've ever heard. Primo Jerry .. . .love it.

Noice!!!
👋
Pretty hot performance. Too bad about the poor quality of the vocal recording.
I've heard worse. The vocals are a little over driven but the performance more than makes up for it.
Sounds great by bootleg standards to me....i am drunk tho
Smokin harder they come harder they fall, im diggin it
John kahn was lucky to be there
Hey man- John is beloved. Deeply deeply loved and a true ai mighty friend and protector.
bingo
John Kahn was one of Garcia's good friends.
Very solid bassist and more importantly very good friend of Jerry's. He's not the best bassist but in a roll like this he was a perfect fit
Yes he was.
