Just want to say thank you for making this! I decided to make AP Chem this year and my teacher is basically refusing to actually teach us, only giving us bookwork and Khan Academy and AP Board videos. This has absolutely saved me, and your simple explanations gave me more understanding than any College Board video did. Thank you!!

For electron configuration, let's take Zinc as an example.
Zinc is 30, so the electron arrangement would be 2-8-8-12. On the first level, there are two electrons, so we write 1s (2), with 1 standing for the level, and 2 for the number of electrons. On the second level, there are eight electrons, so we write 2s (2). But we still have 6 more electrons so we move on to the p, so we write 2p (6). Third level, 8 electrons, 3s (2) 3p (6) and we need to assign something to the d before going on to the next level (Aufbau) so since we have 12 more, and d block only holds 10, we assign 10. So we write 3d (10). Fourth level, two last electrons, 4s (2).
In conclusion, zinc's electron configuration, 1s(2)2s(2)2p(6)3s(2)3p(6)3d(10)4s(2). To write the short-hand way, we simply put the nearest noble gas positioned before the element in brackets, then highest energy block in the highest energy level, then the highest energy block in the second highest energy level. Which means zinc short-hand would be: [Ar]4s(2)3d(10).

Good video. I think using a more relevant analogy would be better. I suggest using coin counter in banks. It is perfect for this. Banks do not have time to count the coins in a bag. Every coin of the same denomination weight precisely the same. So I I give you a bag of 5c coins you'll choose the 5c button and then weigh the content of the bag. Each coin weighs 10 gram for example and the bag weighs 260g so there must be 260/5 = 26 coins in the bag. 25c coins weigh 20g so the bag weighing the same amount would show 13 coins.

How did BC calculus go for you? Do you have any tips for it? Taking it this upcoming year
it went p ok, I would just make sure you understand concepts as you teacher goes through them because it's pretty impossible to cram for
if you need to, ask your teacher for help with hard concepts but don't wait til the end
you said the electrons closest to the nucleus have the highest potential energy and this is wrong ,you should say that since they have least P.E. then more energy will be required to remove them from the shell

Didn't learn anything this year. I blame my teacher 75% and me 15% for cramming rn. We only watched vids of other teachers doing our worksheets themselves. Every day was literally study hall and not learning chem. But I got senoritis, so that too. Anyways, I will come back when scores are released. I'll be happy if I get a 3.
