When I was a kid in the 90s I had played mechwarrior 2 with my dad.we never watched the battle tech cartoon, our tv didn't get that channel, we had the Thor ,Bushwacker, Axeman an elemental and a Infiltrator toys. we did watch some Exosquad and I had a few of their Mechs as well and a few Robotech mechs I remember I liked to take the gun arm off Thor and use it like a nerf gun There was a show I watched a few times when I was like 8 called Hypernaughts that was a mech style live action kids show I lost my dad when I was 15 to cancer.I still love mechs, there's been some cool mechs in action in video games and movies that I know he would love
Wow, I'm envious, that's a sweet collection 👏 I had the Adam Steiner with Infiltrator. Got it in a toy sale at Woolworths in Yate, was over the moon to get it. Played with it loads, still have it today. Nice video, thanks
Family mech wars, that is awesome. I don't think I have ever seen these toys. Beyond cool and I have to admit I'm a little jealous. I didn't see any house affiliations (or clan) on the mechs, did I miss that? thank you for sharing your collection and memories
I use to build fortresses for my micromachine Star Wars figures out of Jenga blocks. Id use the hard hitting power of the hunchback's missles to blow them apart. Fun times.
I was ten in 1994 and the Battletech cartoon was my very first introduction to Battletech. I also demanded, begged and pleaded for every one of these toys and still have them to this day. I remember waking up early on (Saturday or Sunday?) every weekend to watch the show religiously… it ended waaay too soon! A couple years later I received Mechwarrior 2 for computer and I was hooked. To this day, I only play 1990’s FASA Battletech games, I don't touch the Fanpro/CGL stuff with a ten foot pole. Us 90’s kids had the best childhood ever.
Those look terrific! Sounds like AMAZING fun! Did you use the FASA Battletech rules with them, or just use the missiles to hit their triggers, or some combination of both? Did you have enough room for that scale or did you have to adjust ranges and movement? It's really impressive they're all in such great shape after all these years. Toy Polloi has a fantastic channel with nearly a THOUSAND videos on repairing toys just like these! None of yours seem to need anything significant and they all appear functional, but that cockpit looks like a pretty simple fix. Thank you for sharing today!
I never understood why there were the different line names when it's all essentially supposed to be in the same in-game universe/setting. Do you know or have you ever heard any reason as to why?
If you are talking "thor/summoner," in-universe, it is because the inner sphere (who technically didnt have communication with / knowledge of) the clans gave them different designations because they didnt know what the clans called them Here are a few: (inner-sphere/clan) Vulture / mad dog Mad cat / Timberwolf Thor / summoner
It might be because I grew up poor and couldnt afford all of the mechs outside two (Bushwhacker and Axeman), and it could be because the SatAm show was slotted very iconveniently, so barely watched any of it, but I feel a whole me and a whole generation were gyped by being introduced to the Battletech universe in this way, partocularly with the toys: They are barely articulate, are a tiny repreaentation of thw ammounts of Mechs that were out there, and lastly, having the weakspot being in the area the buman crotch would be makes it seem lile Tyco et al were not only cynical about there newfound rights to the Battletech franchise, but where outright parodying and mocking it.. It wouldnt be until MW2 came out that I would be reintroduced to Battletech but this time the RIGHT way, where I would gaim an appreciation and respect for that world, that it has earned theough decades. I think toys are atill an excellent vehicle for introducing Battletech to younguns, but hopefully it can be done in a way that actually excites kids instead of just seeming like some off color joke at theor expenae.

Brings back memories. Had the axman when I was 12 and it was the perfect toy to play with those cheap green molded stand up toy soldiers.

The mechs didn't really have clan or house markings. In the cartoon, the clan was Jade Falcon and the house was Steiner.
I loved these growing up, I could only get a couple of them but they are great

They always come out with the best toys after you've grown up, but before you realize that age doesn't matter.
Man, these were the best. I had 3 of them (axe guy, hunchback, and that super large one). The hunchback was definitely a favorite choice....
Shame we never got a MadCat or a Centurion
I think they rebranded the smaller ones for the Exosquad toy line too
The Bushwhacker's shoulder missiles fired VIa the "Flick" method, they were more manual than others.
My brother had one.
You're right. I remember the "flick" method now. It really didn't work well.
Best toy series ever.
Family mech wars that must have been really special
Thanks for the video! Keep staying young at heart!
The memories 😁
I really wish I'd been able to get these as a kid. I was too into TMNT though.
Does anyone remember the show and toy line i think it was called battle planets? It was a couple of planets teaming up against the beast planet
mine were turned into robos for warhammer40k lol... good ol days
was born in 1990 i had the one on the left (blue) I just bought it again off of ebay.
fantastic

I tried to introduce the rules but mostly we just shot each other's mechs. Our family room is big enough to play a scale game.
@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 That legitimately sounds like an amazing time. You're a blessed man, Anthony!
@@TeflonDave Yep. I'm lucky to have the family I have.
Shame that they never released the Vulture with Kristen Redmond. Would have also loved a Centurion and Hatamato-Chi.
have you ever played the battletech ttrpg?
Since 1989. I love Battletech!
I never understood why there were the different line names when it's all essentially supposed to be in the same in-game universe/setting. Do you know or have you ever heard any reason as to why?
No, but Battletech had a lot of copyright issues in the '90s.
