    Thanks for your comments! I'm glad you are interested!
    This is the first time to try the hybrid gear, so if you change to a setting that can run with a dash motor, try running it again!

    Nice video! We also use this hybrid setups in Scalextric races 9/25 or 9/26 in the front train and 9/27 in the rear one. It allows the car to turn better, reduces oversteering and makes the car faster in straights.

    You should try to compare all 3.7:1, 3.5:1 and the hybrid by using lap timer

    Green front and yellow back with only 2 one way wheels will still cause resistance when running, you'd need all 4 one way wheels for this to work correctly. Ideally, you'd want all the push in the rear when at speed, so having green in the back and yellow in the front would be better with only 2 one way wheels. Another option, use large one way at the rear and medium one way at the front and adjust tyre size accordingly so that the front overall wheel size is maybe 1-2mm smaller than the rear. I set up an MS chassis using torque tuned (tuned highspeed class = no trimming/cutting) with 35mm rear (medium slick with large arched hard on outer) and 33.5mm front (same tyre setup as rear), running green gear. It's a touch slow off the start, but once it's up to high speed, it doesn't slow down in the slightest.
    I think it's something worth exploring, with front/rear running different size one way wheels/tyres in proper gear configuration. Another benefit of this setup is the roller angle, not only does it increase the natural angle at the front, it also adds angle at the rear which helps keep the rear end planted. I haven't had chance to run it on a proper track with jumps, but on a flat track, it's fast than I was expecting.....by a large margin!

      @Don Joseph Rialubin Main problem is the wheels fighting each other if using solid axle. I think the idea of hybrid gear would probably work ok with my above idea, but I don't think it would be enough to eliminate the initial slow starting torque.
      I think the thing you're missing with the "2wd" is that using the different sized tyres on one way wheels is that the car, although slow for starting, will work more like AWD, in straights it will be relying on the speed it can push the rear wheels, whilst any slow down will be compensated by the front wheels to keep traction so the rear doesn't start spinning out. I find that the build tends to ramp up speed very quickly after the initial slow start and maintain a much better top speed through difficult corner sections compared to solid axle builds.
      These builds are so unique, it's unfortunate people don't tinker with them more. I also hope there will be more videos on this to come.

    I did this back when Ms special gears came out, the best setting I got was torq rear and high speed front

    you can try.. different wheel size..example.. 3.7.1 use large wheel 3.5.1 use medium size

    Try it with large one way wheels the wheels should help to compensate the diffrence

    hey im just a starter i started just this week and i dont know what is that gear ratio is.can you explain it. i mean what is 3 in 3:5:1. the 5 and 1.?

    • @RA_Lestari
      @RA_Lestari 3 года назад

      Let me explain a bit, it must be 3.5:1 ratio, when the engine run at 3500rpm, its wheel would be run at 1000rpm (roughly 4.8km/h on 26mm tire), with 5:1 ratio, the wheel would be run at 700rpm (3.4km/h)
      Top speed aside, gear ratio affect the engine torq, bigger ratio have the most accel thus lower top speed and vice versa

    • @briankeefe1707
      @briankeefe1707 Год назад

      Its as simple as - 3.5:1 means everytime the gear spins 3.5 times, the wheel will make 1 full round

    what if i add 4·1 instead 3.7:1 lol

  • @Sablenk87
    @Sablenk87 4 года назад +3

    Different gear ratio, that's new to me. I think test on speed checker kinda useless, because front tire and rear tire spin independently, best to test is on track and check the lap time.

      mybe you can try with different wheel size for each gear.. medium 3.5.1 large 3.7.1

    so.... tamiya is lying to us if we use different ratio the motors will overheat 😭😭😭

    • @foxracerdrew
      @foxracerdrew 4 года назад +1

      @William Winata Except the way the gears/wheels set up here isn't working well, once up to speed the green gear on the one way is still going to be driven and trying to drag the rear wheels which are resisting.
