    Just a novice trying to learn and tutorials like this continue to pull the veil back on what can be a lot of information to digest for a beginner. I bought a SE 245 just three weeks ago and had never picked up a guitar in my 73 years. I'm determined to learn and PRS tutorials are exceptional for someone so new to such a complicated subject. Thanks so much for the continuing effort to bring all of us, no matter the skill set, under the same tent.

    The PRS model I had been waiting for. Last summer I bought a new S2 Custom 24 and a used S2 Custom 22 semi hollow. I now have a dozen other very nice guitars that have been collecting dust. The S2 model is a truly addictive guitar to play. The most comfortable guitar I have ever played.

    Thanks, Bryan! Your video with its excellent explanations suggested to me that I dust off the only coil-splitting guitar that I have (a lovely Schecter C-1 Elite Amber from the year 2003) and try the volume-roll-off-with-coil-split trick. My C-1 has a couple of really great Duncan Designed pickups that are wonderful in full humbucker mode, but I've never cared much for the split sounds. When I got it, though, I had played for decades with my volume and tone controls maxed out. Only recently have I experimented with rolling down the volume of the guitars while playing with distortion. Now you've given me another idea, so thanks again!😎❤️️🎸

    I love both my s2 guitars, the #7 pickups in the singlecut are really good, you roll the volume off and they clean up pretty good and turn them up for grit, and my custom 24 never goes out if tune, both really well made guitars. I will get a core model eventually.

      There the same guitar other then one got a pretty top, I had both at one time a standard and they sounded so similar, maybe alittle more bite with the maple top, most people wouldn't notice, I only did from recoding and listening through monitors. Save the money and go with the standard, is my opinion. Just my 2 cents. Peace

    Why not put a split on both individually 1 for bridge 1 for neck? I had a gen 1 PRS WITH rotary control and it was the most versatile! When I 1st got it neck was my fave followed by bridge next was 3 either series or parallel but after a while position 4 grabbed me as I am a Peter Green fan that sounded most like his tone! That guitar had a sweet switch I liked but missed a tone control so had it nodded with a Yamaha push/push switch so gained a tone control but still had sweet switch when I pulled it up!

    I'm confused. The specs on PRS site lists the S2s with coil-tapping, not coil split. I know technically the single is achieved differently for each method though may sound close in tone - but not the same so the terms are not interchangeable. Bryan discusses splitting and only a nod at the beginning to tapping. What part do I misunderstand?

    Whenever I hear even pro musicians and gear demoers,calling a coil-split function,''coil-tap'',I cringe.
    You *split* a damn humbucker,in order to make it sound like single coil,you don't ''tap'' it,that't something completely different.
    Finally, a gear demo where they use the correct term.

    It's my opinion that just having a "tonal difference" does not mean you are getting an authentic single coil....strat?...sound.

    • @KaninTuzi
      @KaninTuzi 3 года назад +1

      Why wouldn't it mean that? You are literally turning the pickups into single coils. Now, obviously scale length and string gauge will make a huge difference too. But that's not about sc vs hb

    • @dewdude2112
      @dewdude2112 3 года назад

      @@KaninTuzi The wiring, position and specific design of a true single coils are different than a split humbucker. I never said it's never "authentic"...or even just "good". Mileage may vary from guitar to guitar and manufacturer specs. There's a reason people still make and buy true single coil strats.

    • @KaninTuzi
      @KaninTuzi 3 года назад

      @@dewdude2112 Well as you put it yourself, there's great variability within the pool of single coil fitted guitars, so there's no one standard for an authentic or true sound. In other words, you are getting one variant of the sc sound. Might not be the one you prefer, however.

    Message to PRS Team: Why the hell did you use those made in Korea 85-15S set of pickups instead of your Full Fat USA 85-15 pickups??!!!
    S2 guitars are gems, the korean hardware is awesome and serve really well this S2 series BUT there is no comparison possible between the "S" version and its counterpart the real 85-15 wound in USA!!! So WHY on these guitars? Just to mention that other brands for 500$ less offer guitars loaded with US Duncan or Dimarzio...
    I don't understand why commercialy thinking you did that!? It make no sens to me...
    Just my 2 cents... By the way I love PRS to death!!! I'm not trolling the team, I just desagree on this choice .. But if I don't agree with my friend that doesn't mean he will become my enemy!! 😄I will continu to be the biggest fan of the Paul's work, and for the rest of my life!!😊

      Spot on the 85/15 S are so nasal and treble annoying. I had to swap em out for dimarzios. I like PRS but the USA cores are way overpriced and anything less your compromising playability and sound...The frets on my SE feel like railroad tracks and the jack comes loose everytime I plug a cable in no matter how much it's tightened...good think I didn't pay for it otherwise I would return it...indonesia makes the worst guitars
