This game has one of my favorites scenes ever. When you go to see Jenny, she shows you your brithday cake, you blow the candles, she asks you to watch TV with her... And you can fucking watch "Killing a Mockingbird" complete with her!! It's amazing how all this works to the player become attached to Jenny
That scene is what made me fall in love with this game. It was the coolest most interactive thing i had seen in a game up to that time. You could not only watch the full movie but there were other channels you could watch with cartoons and music videos and more. They didnt need to do that but they did. You dont see that kind of love and attention to detail in FPS games anymore.
@William Blazkowicz Lol. Except that paying for a good PC and upgrading it every few years pays off more since you don't have to pay 60 bucks for a game and still pay monthly for a shitty store front. And you still have to upgrade your console every few years - rendering the old hardware obsolete. And you can play almost any game you want on a TV with a Controller.
This game still holds up as one of the greatest story based shooter games I have ever played of last and current gen thus far. You have to remember this game is based off of old tech and the first stage of last gen console games to be created therefore the new mechanics were well new therefore you can't give it to much shit for being both outdated and.... outdated lol
Hey dude, just thought you should know this is the single best review I have seen of this game by far. Holy shit do I regret watching the CGRUndertow and IGN reviews for this title. Keep up the good work
"...Voiced brilliantly by Mike Patton, which is a demonic power that detests light and has a taste for eating human hearts." Yup, sounds like Mike Patton alright ^_^
This was probably my favorite first person shooter campaign on the 360. The atmosphere and cool factor, with Mike's chilling The Darkness dialogue -- just so great. I don't think the 360 version had the technical issues the PS3 did, unless I'm mistaken. I'd say Bioshock might be a contender, but despite the fantastic setting, the story in that is basically a rethemed System Shock 2.
The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay was one PC along with it's Original Xbox version. So why couldn't they do the same to The Darkness.... Also, I have seen the cover for the game.... the main character oddly looks like Kalab from the game Blood
chefstyla I have the game on both consoles. I´m glad to know that when i play it again in the future that i should stick to the 360 version. I hope you will also review the second part. I expect a slightly negative review but i will see. Some people like it more. The only thing that i liked more was the combat.
Compared to other FPS' on the 360 though, aiming is still not that great. I found it to be a pain in the ass, especially if I needed to shoot at lightbulbs and shit.
MideonProductions Quite a few early PS3 games saw really bad ports due to how different and complicated the cell architecture was. Even some not so early games got really shitty ports (Bayonetta).
Kinda weird they didn't port this game to the PC, its a great platform for it. At least the sequel is on PC. PS3 games, especially early titles, most of the time have terrible performance because the system is too difficult to program for which is just a shame.
Jellyman1303 I've heard about it, a pretty basic and actually bad FPS in my opinion. Yeah, PS3 early titles are terrible performance-wise. Just look at Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.
Jellyman1303 Played it and completed it. It was a bad FPS in many aspects and the developers were complete and utter scumbags who should stop making games but Legendary somehow had charm to it for me. It felt different probably because of the subject matter of gunning down werewolves and griffins and what-not that really stood out to me and in the end I actually really enjoyed it despite it's annoying, ANNOYING problems. I heard that the multiplayer, while dead now is actually pretty good though. It might be a pretty decent game for GG to review later on.
Played through it on the 360 when it came out, and it ran and looked smoother than the PS3 version; like a lot of PS3 ports from that time. This game was amazing. It is so unique and atmospheric, and is incredibly well written and polished. It's really a shame so little people seem to know it, I'd say it is pretty much a modern cult hit.
Yes, the very same. He apparently did the voice for the Darkness without any post-recording sound effects and he seriously, I mean seriously knocks it out of the park in his performance in this game. It's pitch-perfect in every way.
I recently played 'The Darkness 2' on PC and I'm pretty amazed at how well they've managed to keep Jenny and Estecardo's mother looking the same as they did in the first game. The Underground scenes are very real looking and detailed as well. Oh, and even the scene at his house that you show in this video is recognizable - at least it is when you know what it looks like from 'The Darkness 2'.
This is probably my personal favorite fps that came out on ps3. I really wish there was a PC release, but I haven't been able to find any, only Darkness 2, which was enjoyable to me, but not anywhere near as good.
I found this on your channel. I worked for EB Games and in 2004, at our Manager's conference in Las Vegas, I got play the demo at the 2K booth. Top Cow was also with them. I played it to on the 360 and it ran great. I was watching the begging of the game when the guy said your playing the game now. A seamless transition on the 360. I loved the second with the cell shaded. Also one of the best closing scenes in a game. 2K has always been on their game. Great channel
Damn, already eight years since I played this game. Really loved the story, visuals gameplay, overall atmosphere and voice acting. No technical problems on Xbox 360.
This game is my little darkling. It might be one of the best story fps I have ever played. It is definitely underrated and sadly forgotten as HD remaster looks unlikely to ever come to existence. I haven't had that many fps drops on my ps3, which is strange as your footage looks really bad. The story, the voice acting (especially super scary darkness), music, even graphics at times is just amazing and every lover of fps games needs to play this. Essential.
KillThad playing it for the first time via backwards comparability on my Xbox one x, and wow. It’s incredible. Rock solid 30 fps, and definitely a little crisper than I remember the demo being on the 360. Great game.
This is one of my favorite games ever I remember getting my friends to play it and really getting them into video games with this but I gotta say everytime I reach the end watch that scene with Jackie and Jenny then hear that song play during the credits I cry it's so sad and a great ending to a superior game Edit: impaling enemies with the demon arm literally never gets old
This is truly a hidden gem. Fantastic game on all fronts. I’m a big fan of everything, the music, art style, graphics, voice acting and the amazing story. Man, sucks that this game is forgotten
BlackSmokeDemon Yeah 2 is nice...this one was kinda meh with dated shooting mechanics (not having proper iron sights and gun handling just feeling wonky). Also the back and forth running in the city hub also got old real fast. Overall 6/10.
+123doomdoom Oh god I could not disagree more. The story in the second one was mediocre and they replaced all the voice acting. The gameplay turned into stereotypical linear shooter. I loved the darkness 1 and the darkness 2 just sucked in comparison.
I still have this game! This game is amazing, have amazing graphics, amazing story, amazing gameplay, amazing voice acting and music! Super underrated game. I love games with amazing storys, I have been always "single player" player since I start gaming. This game have of the best storys I have ever saw in a videogame. The game have its a lost gem from the beginning of HD graphics era. I never understand why this game wasnt release on pc or release again in other platforms. I think 2K saw the poor sells and didn't do that. The horrible performance its fix by the patch mostly.
I seriously am loving this channel! Like no jokes, it is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels on RUclips! To bad reviewers such as this guy are having a hard to time on this site lately.
6:20 on the attention to detail, another really small thing I liked that added even more of a real feeling to the world was that those posters in the subway stations would actually change as you went through the story. really bummed this game never got a good PC version, extra bummer as it was only console exclusivity contracts that kept it there. the starbreeze engine already worked quite well on PC with the chronicles of riddick games
*The framerate is because it was marketed as one of the first "HD" games, and was all about the visuals.* This was the *first* HD screen "thing" I ever saw. I lived near Fairbanks in fall of 2007, and on shopping trip - landed a new Sharp flat screen, and the big PS3 and this game. I still have all three, functioning just as well (obsolescence notwithstanding).
6:00 "surviving six or seven pistol shots to the chest like it's nothing". You mean like in most video games? Also, it may sound stupid, but the PC is the device on which the games are being made. So, why are there games who don't get released on the PC? Could someone answer that?
Dude, you have the best reviews. I used to work at gamestop and people would always joke about this game, prey and Nathan explosion because I look like them, being a 6'2 native American with straight black hair lol So eventually had to play the games and as much flak as the games got I really enjoyed them.
Great review! PS Have you review Urban Chaos for PS2? If not, I think you should give it a go or The Darkness 2 I'd be happy to see both. Keep up the great work.
I love Starbreeze Studios & have been curious to see something comprehensive on this game. I appreciate the review & will be picking this one up soon for my 360, it should have better performance on it hopefully.
I really enjoyed this game more for it's story and atmosphere than gameplay. I remember the black hole power sucked out any tension or excitement out of gameplay once I got it. I still remember how cool the load times were.
I had no Framerate Problems on the Xbox 360, and the Graphics looked a bit better than on the PS3. Btw, The Darkness is a great Game and one of the best of the Last Generation
Rei dos Vermes I think Homeworld is the only one that is a complete remaster. Others are closer to re-release with HD resolution options. Also the games you mentioned are way older than The Darkness.
I had no idea there was a comic, I guess that explains why the sequel goes for that comic book style. I wish it had been a more polished version of The Darkness 1 though. The demon arm in Darkness was something I had a lot of win with for some reason, spearing a mobster and then shooting the crap out of them while suspended in the air and then throwing away their corpse.
you have to take into account this game came out early in the ps3's life and no one really knew how to program and code for it due to its weird processor
I've been replaying this game on my series X and it plays wonderfully, aside from some silly ai behavior but that's to be expected. The auto hdr really helps with the games art style. It's been pretty awesome replaying it and taking it slow now that I'm not a trigger happy little lad. Gonna have find some of the comics when I'm done.
I know I'm late to this video and commenting on it but, Jenny's death makes me cry everytime, I'm not even joking, her death hits hard, it's so emotional how we're just completely helpless because of the Darkness not letting us save her.
I did some digging around, and the Xbox 360 version seems to be quite a bit better. Frame rates are overall noticeably better (though I couldn't find any actual frame rate tests), and the 360 version runs at a higher resolution with better AA. -360 = 1280x720 w/ 4xAA -PS3 = 1152x640 w/ no AA (this is for the demo, but I assume the main game is the same) forum.beyond3d.com/threads/list-of-rendering-resolutions.41152/
+DrearierSpider1 yup the 360 version is the game to get the ps3 version suffurs from lack of dev support from sony 2007 2008 was loaded with poorly optimized ports and alot of devs were in talks to drop the PS altogether for example the ps3 orange box was plagued with technical problems and still lags and crashes to this day. it seems that most early ps3 games are bugged wrecks.
Would love to see a review of The Darkness 2! It's available on Steam, and I think you'd enjoy the performance of the game a lot more than the first Darkness game. Personally one of my most favorite single-player fps games out there
"possessed by a demon".... Noooo my dear sonny G, demons RUN from The Darkness. He's much more than that. On this game he's weak AF. Jackie is practically A GOD. The only thing stopping him from obliterating Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Hulk and Ghost Rider (yes, he faced them all) was only his human limitations. BTW, his only weakness is sunlight. I don't remember when I the comics they started with the crap of artificial light too, but that's just his limitations, not The Darkness'
When I had my 360, I didn't play all that many games on it - but this, for me, was definitely the most enjoyable title I played. Quite surreal in places. I also enjoyed the second game as well, though not quite as much.
there are some areas that have playing TVs and they have huge amount of stuff playing on them you can even switch channels to completely diffrent channels some playing full length movies wile others playing music or cartoons you could spend a entire day just watching all of the stuff on the TV.
Have you played the second one? You can rip a guy in half like a wishbone, or pick up a car door with your darkness and use it as a riot shield before throwing it and severing a guy in half. Great stuff
The Man With The Golden Arm, The Street Fighter (with Sonny Chiba), and a full episode of the old Flash Gordon serial, yes. It's little touches like that, which made me more invested in the game as a whole, to a point where I bought the first Darkness Omnibus comic-series which I still occasionally read to this day.
Christopher G I read both The Darkness and Witchblade comics when they were new. My problem with comics, though, is that they run for too long, so I usually get bored pretty quickly. I have this problem with TV series and such as well. I prefer Band of Brothers and Watchmen type entertainment. In such a format you don't get the boring filler stuff. /rant
You're absolutely right. Frankly, I think the Darkness would be one of the only series that I would get the Omnibus for, as at least in my opinion, it's the exception as opposed to the rule, and it tends to stay pretty tightly focused on the main characters. Don't get me wrong, every now and again I love playing a 60-plus hour RPG, but sometimes there are days where I just want to boot up Wolfenstein: The New Order, blast through a level or so, and then I'm done. I think sometimes it has to do with current mood, as much as it does one's own personality.
I’ve been playing on the Xbox One via back compat and it runs at a silky smooth 30 FPS and it’s so nice and makes it age way better! It’s unreal how well it holds up. (Edit, I do play on my Xbox One X though, I’m not sure what the base Xbox one will look like)
I played this on my Xbox and it's one of my favourite shooters, and the story... the story... god, the story... the ending it made me cry a little, it's so beautiful. This game should be on PC!!!
***** Yeah, I know, and I agree about TNO too. I haven't played Syndicate, but it always felt like part of the original team and talent is missing. I love atmosphere-rich hub levels in Riddicks/Darkness, and characters in latter were nicely written, but in TNO both hubs and unlikeable side characters just felt shoehorned in, just to provide that Starbreeze flavour they're known for.
It's funny knowing The Darkness 2 is by the same guys who made the excellent Warframe. But then again they also made the abysmal Star Trek: The Game. We all know how not good that game was.
Feels good to finally see people I agree with. When Darkness 2 came out, I thought - this is awful compared to the first one : way too linear, no subtlety, no originality (feels like COD at times). And I realised that this game was somehow praised by the majority. One of the reasons to this was the fact that D2 came out on PC as well and many people never even touched D1. It's a shame really
If this one seemed to you a little flat, you should try The Darkness II. Is nearly perfect in my opinion. Great cell shading visuals, smooth framerate and a badass execution and combo system with powers that turn you into a fucking god. Great review.
Ah mike patton, the singer of faith no more, and the guy who can voice very very gruggly monster sounds like The Darkness and some of the infected in L4D1/2
I love this game, even despite the horrible framerate. The story and atmosphere are simply phenomenal. It's dark and gritty, but also funny and emotional. I wish this game got re-released on PC and 8th-gen consoles. Unlike all the remasters of 2-year-old games, this is a game that could actually greatly benefit from a port to stronger hardware.
I played the darkness II on a pc steam release and I must say that I enjoyed it hella lot! Even without knowing the story from the first I immediately became invested in what happens in second. You also have a flashback sequence to get you informed what the hell happened. The story is still grea, well driven, the characters are memorable, the graphics are butter-smooth, and this time even cell-shaded. Altrough it is better to have like 6 button mouse to better enjoy the two hands-wto tentacles gameplay. I got confused sometimes but after short prractice it all becomes nice and easy. I reccomend you getting this one too. Altrough I am not sure if you'll have the same fine experience because the story seems to be focused on the superpower factor as well as weird cultist movements :D
Hey guys, check out my updated video here:

That thing need really a HD remake on PC
@William Blazkowicz wow 1080p. Welcome to 2007
@William Blazkowicz I don't play consoles. I like my framerates above 60fps.
@William Blazkowicz Lol. Except that paying for a good PC and upgrading it every few years pays off more since you don't have to pay 60 bucks for a game and still pay monthly for a shitty store front. And you still have to upgrade your console every few years - rendering the old hardware obsolete.

Honeyball Lecter a lot of ps4 games are 60fps.
PC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Xbox One

Didn't know there's a game staring John Romero.
Shaka12 my sarcasm detector is malfunctioning so i'm unsure if you're aware, but this was actually ... the 2nd
I teared up at the end. I didn't want to wake up.
Saddest ending I've played through for sure, the closing song is also really fitting with the tone
Same
Hey dude, just thought you should know this is the single best review I have seen of this game by far. Holy shit do I regret watching the CGRUndertow and IGN reviews for this title. Keep up the good work
Thanks brah!
Can't believe you're still replying on old videos.
One of the most quality channels on here mate, keep it up. Much love.
yeah I agree with the review but I picked this up literally for 4 bucks worth , yeah time killer
"...Voiced brilliantly by Mike Patton, which is a demonic power that detests light and has a taste for eating human hearts."
Yup, sounds like Mike Patton alright ^_^

Why did the console peasant cross the road
To render the building on the other side
Stop thinking you are original. You are not.
That was actually funny though!
I lol'd
RevanBladeZ sorry
Geno Taking it a bit too seriously...
Sucks there was never a PC version
The Warden it could be worse you could suffer with the fact that there was never a third one since the second game ends on a cliff hangar
The second game is on PC so I know the feeling.
And its good to. That art stile!
The Warden same with the fable series, fable 1, anniversary, and 3 are on pc but not 2
The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay was one PC along with it's Original Xbox version.
So why couldn't they do the same to The Darkness....
Also, I have seen the cover for the game.... the main character oddly looks like Kalab from the game Blood
I had no framerate problems on the X-Box 360.
its the better version. also it has 2x anti aliasing. PS 3 Version sucks hard!
and the resolution is higher on the xbox 360. The controls are also smoother.
chefstyla I have the game on both consoles. I´m glad to know that when i play it again in the future that i should stick to the 360 version. I hope you will also review the second part. dude also did the voices of all the zombies in L4D 1 + 2. found that out the other day, was stoked
Also was the singer of mr bungle. Another great band

I loved this game. Its version of Hell as a never ending version of World War 1 was one of the coolest depictions of the afterlife i've ever seen.
I found this on your channel. I worked for EB Games and in 2004, at our Manager's conference in Las Vegas, I got play the demo at the 2K booth. Top Cow was also with them. every so often i replay this game. jenny and the darkness are still some of my favorite characters of all time
You merely adopted the lag, some of us were born in it, molded by it. I for instance have never played a game at a solid 60fps.
Damn, already eight years since I played this game. Really loved the story, visuals gameplay, overall atmosphere and voice acting. No technical problems on Xbox 360.

This game has fantastic music.
This is one of my favorite games ever I remember getting my friends to play it and really getting them into video games with this but I gotta say everytime I reach the end watch that scene with Jackie and Jenny then hear that song play during the credits I cry it's so sad and a great ending to a superior game

I love how he’s a mafia hitman that looks like a goth rocker. It’s sweet.
This is truly a hidden gem. Fantastic game on all fronts. I’m a big fan of everything, the music, art style, graphics, voice acting and the amazing story. Man, sucks that this game is forgotten
GG when are you reviewing the second game? I am playing it right now and I an enjoying it quite a bit.
+123doomdoom Soon, bro.
+123doomdoom absolutely love The Darkness II, I really hope 2k lets Top Cow make a sequel
BlackSmokeDemon Yeah 2 is nice...this one was kinda meh with dated shooting mechanics (not having proper iron sights and gun handling just feeling wonky). Also the back and forth running in the city hub also got old real fast. Overall 6/10.
123doomdoom I missed the hub world, I would have loved to see the whole city in the new engine
+123doomdoom Oh god I could not disagree more. The story in the second one was mediocre and they replaced all the voice acting. The gameplay turned into stereotypical linear shooter. I loved the darkness 1 and the darkness 2 just sucked in comparison.
As a kid, I remember seeing this on a game magazine and the graphics had my jaw dropping
glad you liked it man, I remember the scene with miss Rosie after you deliver a trinket to her, that really rustled my jimmies
I still have this game! This game is amazing, have amazing graphics, amazing story, amazing gameplay, amazing voice acting and music! Super underrated game. Am i noticing more and more pop culture movie references that are that are used in the correct context?
If so, keep them coming!
Can we agree Jane Seymour is still a hot piece of ass?
*glances side to side* yeah, sure sure!
Two days ago i thought: i hope Gggmanlives makes a The Darkness review soon. And there it is! XD
I remember this game used to be in every store pre-owned like a million copies of it haha I got it for like 5 euro then
6:20 on the attention to detail, another really small thing I liked that added even more of a real feeling to the world was that those posters in the subway stations would actually change as you went through the story. really bummed this game never got a good PC version, extra bummer as it was only console exclusivity contracts that kept it there. the starbreeze engine already worked quite well on PC with the chronicles of riddick games

"...some deep shit..." 2nd unofficial gggmanlives catchphrase
I like the second one, very smooth refined gameplay and cool art style
Yeaaah buddy.
Gggmanlives both games are good...in their own way.
GeekGamer7 the second one has the horrible comic book art style that i cant take seriously in a game
@@peppermillers8361 even if the first one is better
Great review!
PS Have you review Urban Chaos for PS2?
If not, I think you should give it a go or The Darkness 2 I'd be happy to see both.
Keep up the great work.
I know of it, haven't got a copy yet.
hope you're talking about Urban Chaos: Riot Response by Rocksteady Studios, because that game is among the best of them
***** Yep! That's it! :D
The best urban chaos game is the one that came out on pc paz and dreamcast
urban chaos riot response is one of the best console FPSs I've ever played. I would love to see him review it
I remember remarking how strange I thought it was that Jackie is such a verbal character, but never says a word to the Darkness.
I really hope they remaster this and the darkness 2 for ps4 , Xbox one and pc at some point
I love Starbreeze Studios & have been curious to see something comprehensive on this game. I appreciate the review & will be picking this one up soon for my 360, it should have better performance on it hopefully.
This was one of the first games I ever played on ps3...and I was passed that it wasn't HD.
But couldn't put it down once I started playing.
Oh man, I wish this one was released on PC. Thankfully there's still a chance with this remaster trend.
Remaster is pretty much a console trend because platforms change. PC is always one platform.
RevanBladeZ But PC is also getting a lot of remasters lately: Homeworld, Seven Kingdoms II, Farenheit, Gabriel Knight, Strife, etc.
Rei dos Vermes I think Homeworld is the only one that is a complete remaster. Others are closer to re-release with HD resolution options. Also the games you mentioned are way older than The Darkness.
How did you like The Darkness 2?
Because I loved the 2nd one almost as much as the first
2nd one is awesome. Just a lot more linear, which isn't a bad thing. I think the combat in it is way better.
Gggmanlives Also it is on PC.
Eruntien killbane
Nah brother only consoles.
Gggmanlives the second one is, which is what I meant. I just searched it on steam
@@Gggmanlives I just didn't like the change in tone or art style.
I had no idea there was a comic, I guess that explains why the sequel goes for that comic book style. I wish it had been a more polished version of The Darkness 1 though. The demon arm in Darkness was something I had a lot of win with for some reason, spearing a mobster and then shooting the crap out of them while suspended in the air and then throwing away their corpse.
you have to take into account this game came out early in the ps3's life and no one really knew how to program and code for it due to its weird processor
i really did enjoyed this game on the 360 with my 2 older bros. we were everyday playing it to beat it.
Ive just remembered this game after over 10 years holy shit
Im pretty sure the 360 version ran at a steady 30 fps, if memory serves me right.
Stil have a bunch of the darkness comic's
@@blueeyedscorpio76 I’ve been recollecting them in trade form. Such a great book.
love to see an hd remake of this game
I know I'm late to this video and commenting on it but, Jenny's death makes me cry everytime, I'm not even joking, her death hits hard, it's so emotional how we're just completely helpless because of the Darkness not letting us save her.
I loved this game, such a great story, too bad they changed the VA in the sequel.
I really should find some time to finish this game. Start playing this long time but their was so much new games and I was totaly overloaded :).
I wish they'd remake this. Keep the story and delivery intact and upgrade graphics and gameplay. The atmosphere of this game is so thick
Don't remember there being any frame-rate problems with the XBOX360 version...
I was actually really surprised to hear this was never on PC, considering how much like an old school PC game it plays.
I did some digging around, and the Xbox 360 version seems to be quite a bit better. Frame rates are overall noticeably better (though I couldn't find any actual frame rate tests), and the 360 version runs at a higher resolution with better AA.
-360 = 1280x720 w/ 4xAA
-PS3 = 1152x640 w/ no AA (this is for the demo, but I assume the main game is the same)

+DrearierSpider1 - And quite a lot better loading times on 360 if you install the game. I have both versions.
+Thepnastyone Never had one problem playing The Orange box games on my PS3
BlackSmokeDemon
Your the exception.
Would love to see a review of The Darkness 2! It's available on Steam, and I think you'd enjoy the performance of the game a lot more than the first Darkness game. Personally one of my most favorite single-player fps games out there
Would love an updated PC review of both of these games now that their on PC. This particular one is $3.99 on steam right now.
I can only find the second one
"possessed by a demon".... Noooo my dear sonny G, demons RUN from The Darkness. He's much more than that. On this game he's weak AF. Jackie is practically A GOD. The only thing stopping him from obliterating Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Hulk and Ghost Rider (yes, he faced them all) was only his human limitations. BTW, his only weakness is sunlight. I don't remember when I the comics they started with the crap of artificial light too, but that's just his limitations, not The Darkness'
Awesome review! Keep them coming. Also, I'm interested to hear what you have to say about killzone series. Killzone 2 is my favourite.
I really enjoy your reviews. Have you ever played necrovision, its a pretty unique shooter set in ww1.
I hope you'll review the kill zone series as those are good games in my opinion
This is late but you can smack out the lights once you get the second darkness power. You no longer have to shoot them at all.
i played this game on release it was pretty damn good at the time
Impaling a guy with the tentacle is still one of the funnest things ever
Have you played the second one? You can rip a guy in half like a wishbone, or pick up a car door with your darkness and use it as a riot shield before throwing it and severing a guy in half. Great stuff
Ph0be Mm yeah I didnt like the second one as much with its comic style graphics and change of tone in story.
Did you know that in the couch-scene with Jenny, you can watch To Kill A Mockingbird on the TV with her to its entirety?
I think there's like 3 full length movies you can watch with her.
Really? That's pretty awesome.
(Edit, I do play on my Xbox One X though, I’m not sure what the base Xbox one will look like)
Jackie with his voice, attitude and look makes him like early 90's Steven Segal don't you think?
***** Hahaha. Thanks man
great review! i hope you will review the darkness 2 too.
I played this on my Xbox and it's one of my favourite shooters, and the story... the story... god, the story... the ending it made me cry a little, it's so beautiful. This game should be on PC!!!
One of my favorite games on 7th gen consoles, and shooters in general. Shame about the sequel.
*****
Yeah, I know, and I agree about TNO too.
I thought the second one was good.
AydarBMSTU all I can say is I disagree.
You just need to master the gameplay that's it, like I did I never ran into a single ploblem in darkness 1 for ps3
great review yet again.
I played it on the Xbox, it ran pretty well.
*I hate that you never mentioned how SLOW the walk speed is.*
UnCreative Deconstructionism yep it feels like he has one leg
I never played the original Darkness. I completed The Darkness 2 and I loved that game!
If this one seemed to you a little flat, you should try The Darkness II. Is nearly perfect in my opinion.
Great cell shading visuals, smooth framerate and a badass execution and combo system with powers that turn you into a fucking god.
Great review.
I agree, the sequel is awesome.
"poor man's deus ex" danm that was brutal 😂
Anyway just found your videos dude been binging for days
This is absolutely one of the best first person shooters nobody knows about. It's fantastic.
I won’t lie. I love this game. Still own it and go back on it once a year. It’s great. Has its flaws, but it’s worth sticking through them.
I hope he will also do a The Darkness 2 review,
Ah mike patton, the singer of faith no more, and the guy who can voice very very gruggly monster sounds like The Darkness and some of the infected in L4D1/2
I can tell you the 360 version didn't run like this, holy shit.
But this one and the second game are two of my favorite games, they're so badass.
I should of got this game when it was on sale for $5. Looks pretty good.
Not really a request, but are you planning to review Alien Trilogy anytime?
Wow I actually forgot about that game. Yeah I think so, it was awesome on PS1.
Gggmanlives Cool. When you did your AvP reviews, was waiting for this one but it never came, haha.
It seems the darkness enjoy eating faces as well =)
Great review; a pitty I don't own any consoles.
