I have the same saw from about a year ago… but always subtracted 1mm from the measurements! Haha, now I see the red line adjustable! Nice one Robin! I polish up the table base for less friction, also bought the 240 kit as can keep going for longer it’s great ! But it does sometimes stop if doing tons of cuts, to cool down.
I have serious tool envy. I'm using a dirt cheap second hand Lidl tablesaw, but even that cuts so much better with a bit of setup, care and maintenance.
Lovely, thank you for the tutorial. Gonna send it to my coworkers, so that they can fix their dodgy calibrations. It's painful to rip on their equipment.
Soft start is a nice feature. I use a dewalt site saw. It has a few similarities but this hikoki looks to pack some really nice added features that you normally only see on the larger workshop saws
Having the blade that close to the wood can actually increase the risk of kickback. It should be above the wood so that the teeth make a downwards contact point with the wood first, with the way demonstrated a lot of the force is applied directly back at you. I used to think it was smart to put it just above until I learned in trade school why to not do it.
Nice tool Robin! Nice setup work too, can’t be too careful, especially with a tool like that. Shame SawStop can’t be integrated with battery technology yet …
Hi Robin, I purchased the 240v version a couple of weeks ago. Just be careful when ripping on this particular saw as Hikoki have told me themselves that the 36v version blow control units all the time. They are awesome, Saws, though!
@@kylehocking420 nah, just the one like in this video, I think it it to do with the current the battery can actually supply to the tool. But the controller can't handle that load.

@kylehocking420 it's all up to you, mate. I would be purchasing the ac version myself, again though, as in my personal opinion, neither dewalt, milwaukee, or hikoki have been able to design a cordless table saw worth having yet. Cheers
@@ashtondrake3407 thanks. the cordless is on sale for $1850 for 2 4ah batterys and without the stand, $1150 for the corded and includes a free sander as an end of the year deal. seems like a lot of money to spend when i allready have a 2200w portable generator for unpowered sites
Excellent video ..... spot on repeating the safety of removing the battery, but for some reason, you missed the classic safety tip from the new Yankee workshop. There's no more safety than remembering to wear your safety glasses, which were Norms every day readers lol 😊👍🏴
Have you had any issues with the fence coming out of alignment? Or anything else significant? The fence staying square is what I'm particularly concerned about, alot of people have reported the fence not staying square
I always check the fence as there is adjustment on the front and rear rack and pinions that will from time to time need some tweeking, my Milwaukee is the same as is my Dewalt 745
The red button is mandatory on all new tools sold in UK since few years back. To be honest I find that to be a very simple and efective safety switch. Nice quality video as per usual from Robin:)
I am not saying this is wrong advice but what I am saying is that if every single time we buy any piece of machinery - expensive or not - we find ourselves wasting precious and expensive hours to check what should be spot on from factory settings then this is all wrong - it turns out many of us have found a lot wrong / offset / off calibration / misaligned but and here is the strange thing: we seem to take the hit and put right what others got wrong for our money... imagine buying a new car to find out the wheels are not balanced, the lights are off track, the steering veers to one side, the washer jets point to the sky and the lot...nobody would a accept it but somehow we seem to accept that in what concerns woodworking tools being the main culprit...hand planes not to mention the lathe world...
the big question is how you would rate this compared to either the dewalt, makita or milwaukee. we use the big dewalt at work and i see several features on the hikoki that beats the dewalt instantly.
I had a 240v dewalt- maybe the 740- 250mm saw. It was really good, but that 240v, and an extension cable... I bought this hikoki table saw, and it is a great site saw. It is not as gutsy as the dewalt. It will stall partway along a cut which can be very frustrating. I like it, I'm keeping it, but I really wish I hadn't sold the dewalt
@@rossbuchanan7632 to be fair to our dewalt at work, it has seen better days, dont even think it will be any good with a descent service either. i have the smaller one at home 7485qs. and i love it.

best tip I could also add to everything said in the video. PLEASE LOSE THE PLASTIC PUSH STICK, make or buy a wooden one, they are not good enough, they can slip, if they hit the blade they can also shatter, Always get a wooden stick. And where were your safety glasses, a black eye is far better than no eye.
If you are a bit short of dough getting kit together then i would invest in a better quality track saw and accessories ... baby table saws are a luxury that you can do without
Never checked the blade for 90 degrees to the table, the fence could be out, also check the nut holding the blade on, I check with a roofing square on table and circular saws. Good video otherwise.
I still wonder why anyone would think that unboxing their brand new tiny table saw and setting it up would be of interest to anyone or why anyone would be interested in watching.
God I get fed up seeing all your sponsored stuff, Don’t you think most people struggle to buy there own gear. Bit insensitive keep selling/ showing gear to people who can only dream. Have you got any dusty or used looking tools?🙄
Your detailed instructions for assembling the table saw were very helpful, Robin. Thank you. I've had my eye on that particular model for a while now.
What impressed me most about this video is that you used push sticks and stood to the side in case of kick back. Great job

A busman's weekend then. Thanks for sharing, nice saw.
Very nice equipment
It's very similar to the big mains powered DeWalt that I own. Good purchase!
That Hikoki table saw is a lot of saw for your money. Excellent value!
Looks identical to one of the DeWalt saws. Probably came off the same production line in the same factory! 😂
Looks like it might take a Dado blade?
Any idea when we'll be able to get our grubby mitts on the Hikoki track saw?

This is really helpful. Thanks Robin
Great vid as always. Is there an RC chop saw setup video somewhere?
Very torn between this and the dewalt 7485. Looks great but what’s the battery life like? How have you found it when cutting hardwoods?

My one has a flaw with the fence, not 90 degree at the entry, but perfectly 90 degree on the other side. Not sure if I can claim that 😢
One question can u add a daddo kit of blades to form grooves

Like the look of that rack and pinon fence, seems like it could be sturdier than the standard type?
it is well built!!
