This is the baddest band ever, i love them listen to this all day and night at work.
Saw them live at the Philadelphia Spectrum in 74. One of my top three all-time favorite groups ever!
A friend of mine said he saw them open for humble pie in 74!?!? Polar opposites but I hope the humble pie fans were turned into ewf fans that night!
I was there in '79 at Maracanãzinho. It was incredible.

I love the way Maurice wipps the groove thang early doors with In The Stone, Serpentine Fire and Got to get you into my life.. nobody could do it like him.. he was utterly immense.. afterall he was the master of the universe. Feel the fire!

Maurice White came from Ramsey Lewis Jazz Band yrs ago he was the Drummer in Ramsey Lewis Jazz Band and years later he Founded and Created EARTH WIND AND FIRE

You know! I think this is their best album ever! It showcases their talents so much that after hearing this album you almost have to say hands down that is the best band God ever put on the planet! The closest band section to these guys would be James Brown's band, but if you really listen real close these guys were some bad dudes musically! It's hard to duplicate these guys they were originals!

I will never get over the fact that during the intro, after what unedited I imagine was over an hour of brilliant powerful playing, one of the trumpet players (I'll put respect on the names of both Rahmlee Michael Davis and Michael Harris, even if it was only one of them) nails those two A6 stabs during the intro to September. I often get chills when I listen to it! That is basically the brass playing equivalent to nailing a high jump near the end of a long distance run, then completing the long distance run.

I've been listening to this album for a week straight. When I went to McDonald's I had to get a extra so I can drum to the songs in the car lol!! The percussion in this concert is amazing!!! I've been a Earth, Wind, & Fire fan before I was born literally my mom went to see them in concert at Eastern Michigan University in 78' and she was pregnant with me!! :)

hell yes awesome live album from the legends earth wind and fire i love these guys a lot. they are well ahead of their time for a band with so many members wow. the different genres they can play at is amazing too.
I saw EWF in London around 1974 ? who were not too well known then...they were support band for Santana...but in my view they should have been the main act...they were brilliant.
ken james saw them in 74 as well but in NY open for Humble Pie... Santana would've seemed more suitable but they killed regardless!

At the explosive end or climax of an EWF Musical Experience, you are exhausted as Maurice and the Band. As I read Maurice's book and listen to them on You Tube, I am beginning to grow and appreciate White's emphasis on making excellence his trademark. I read Philip' book and can contrast and compare the two. The psychology and cultural consciousness of White manifests Sankofa, evident in the EWF 1993 Millenium album cover, as all the visual art on their albums. As Masters in African American Studies, I find Earth Wind and Fire, is more culturally significant than the Beatles or Elvis because we are still listening and learning about Kemet Egypt and in the STONE!!!
Great analysis. They represent what I describe as Soul Code. Their syncopation of rhythmic flow did exactly what Reese wanted us to feel. Transference to a better place in our spirit.

Early EWF live - even better! Band still crazy good today and I love the Sheldon Reynolds period but this is what I grew up with - 'got the groove, just got to move' and these guys lived that motto on stage (so did we :)) And its got the awesome Brazilian Rhyme on also... best wishes from your friends in England.
