To Bill and anyone else asking for the intro: I based this lesson an a live version (link below) where he didn't play the intro. At this stage I don't see myself getting time to go back and re-visit it. ruclips.net/video/Q51uUKeckX4/видео.html
You have a very nice voice and should sing the song. As a black inner-city kid, I grew listening to John's music and when gets a little, put on headphones and listen to him.
You are a very gifted and excellent music teacher...thank you very much for taking the time to create these videos...your helping to make the world a better place.. 🌄☮✌😊
Jerry, thank you ever so much for the wonderful lesson. I wish I had a teacher like you. Your style and teaching techniques are highly appreciated. Please, try to teach more John Denver's songs. Again, I thank you kindly for your unbelievably great lesson.
I'm so happy the first song I put so many hours in needs a Travis picking. So many songs you can play with this picking pattern. Ohh by way , this guy is one of the best guitar teacher here in RUclips!
Many thanks for this. I do love how you take two images and superimpose them on the same frame so that we can watch both hands simultaniously. John Denver uses some very simple techniques and some lovely simple chords which always sound so good together. Regards The Glastonbury Ferryman
Thanks a lot for excellent work. I am amazed. Although I am a beginner it's not so difficult to learn if I am patient enough. (and keep practising a lot) I especially like the pdf with tabs and notes. Really great job. Thanks a lot. Sending regards from the Czech Republic.
I was hoping for the into he played on the midnight special show with Cass Elliott, it looks like a D and D7 that gets suspended before going into the verse. I'll figure it out from watching him because it's very visible as the camera is right on his hands.

In fact Jerry, what right hand fingers are you using in the intro G to G/C as well? I believe in most of your songs that I have purchased, you do mention the right hand fingering but in this song I don’t hear it. I’m trying to see what right hand fingering you’re using and it’s hard to tell because you’re playing so fast please explain thank you very much
But Jerry, where is that iconic intro you been promising for six years? If anyone else is interested in seeing a video at the intro please make your comment available. I’m sorry Jerry it had to be saId.......
Hey Jerry, how are you? Here's a video of J Denver doing that most recognized Intro I was talking about. If you ever incorporate it in a update version, please let me know! Thanks, Bill. ruclips.net/video/xFEhzS0hYco/видео.html
Hi Jerry, I like your channels very much. But this guitar sounds so much better than your Taylor! I mean it. I don't know what it is, but in my ears most Taylors don't have that 'soul', but this guitar and your Gibson sounds much better :)

I truly love how you bother to rig up two cameras so that we learners can follow absolutely everything you are teaching.
Many sincere thanks.

& the mini outro thing which i'd love to find out how to play
(usually on the live vids)
Jerry, please let me know if you ever decide to figure out the distinct opening riff he usually does (Greatest Hits). Thank you, kindly!!!
tope bueno, even i can sing it. bravo¡
Jerry when playing the D chord in the intro, what fingers are you using on the right hand please?
Forgive me but the video looks pretty clear at around 3.15. Thumb takes 4 and 3. Index takes 2. Middle takes 1
I was hoping for the into he played on the midnight special show with Cass Elliott, it looks like a D and D7 that gets suspended before going into the verse. I'll figure it out from watching him because it's very visible as the camera is right on his hands.
would you mind playing the whole song first before starting the tutorial,

Always pima. Thumb plays strings 6, 5 and 4. Index takes 3, Middle takes 2, Ring takes 1
hi gerry would have liked to see how the intro was done
What I asked is when you play the D chord, which strings are you picking with which fingers/thumb?
For the D chord, 4 2 3 1, is it thumb, index, thumb, ring finger?
When playing the D chord in the intro and playing the strings 4-2-3-1, are you using fingers: thumb-index- thumb-middle?
nice!.. it would be more great if you play the whole song sir.
Is it possible to learn this song without and guitar knowledge and experience? How long will it take?
I like your English accent
But There IS an intro into the first verse before he starts singing starting in the chord of D to D7 before the singing of the first verse.
Where's my drink, make mine a double bourbon
But Jerry, where is that iconic intro you been promising for six years? If anyone else is interested in seeing a video at the intro please make your comment available. I’m sorry Jerry it had to be saId.......

Hi Jerry please do an intro just like the original recording. I know the intro but I get confused please do an intro to this song. thanks.
the intro I think starts on a Dsus
Your tabs download does not work.what should I do.
It does work Mike. What problem are you having? Email me at jerrysguitarbar at gmail dot com
Ok I see now you were talking about a live version..
The C/G is really hard for me to play, my 4th finger keeps touching the 5th string
You don't need the 4th finger
I emailed and got your link but it doesn't work anymore:-(
+Jim Ryan Hi Jim. It does work. Email me at jerrysguitarbar AT gmail DOT come and I'll hook you up.

Peter, Paul and Mary's arrangement was more interesting.

technically there is no sus2 it's add 2 or add9.
