As an amateur tuner, I can't applaud you enough for giving the due diligence talk over for people getting their vehicles tuned. Can't think of how many people I've turned down for these reasons, or how many I've pissed off for giving a similar lecture. Any misinformation someone gives, or lack of information for that matter, falls on us if one single thing goes wrong. We struggle, customer leaves with a bad running vehicle and in turn, customer is unhappy. Make a list of parts installed or replaced with part numbers and your goals, we make it happen. Simple as that 👌

One of the tuners we have used has a worksheet you have to fill out before dyno day with pertinent info. No worksheet, no tune.

I did all the custom carburetor dyno tuning at jba and come on all you need is some split fires or some e3's in there. and it's okay that I have 13 to 1 compression with 14 lb of boost on 87 octane with no intercooler party on!!! PS when it all comes apart it's obviously the dino tuners or operators fault because that motor was bulletproof laugh out loud😂😂😂

I always felt tuners should have an above market rate mechanical repair/diagnosis fee that comes into effect when that kind of work is required. I understand there is some refinement necessary in most fresh builds but a good bit of this stuff is really not hard for owners and definitely builders to get right. What you talked about also speaks to the importance of some kind of parts document/spreadsheet to be included with a build or modified car that is purchased already complete.
@@ChrisHimself1357 Happy to hear those working in the field are putting this into practice. Seems like you could charge even more that $150 an hour though. Price it at a point which encourages people to show up ready to go.

Saw your PSA, you should offer a pre tune inspection. Where you go over the car and tell them what the need to do to be tune ready. A 30-60 minutes could save them hours at tune time.

They tuned the motor in Mullet with the guy who built the motor. Anyone else who has tuned Cleetus' motors lately haven't been the builders.

Why do these airboat seats always sit so high?
Visibility, the closer you sit to the water the harder it is to see obstacles below the surface. It also allows you to be above the debris path when running through tall grass.
Id want to be up high also with all the brush youd go through in the marshes.
