Can you image being a hen laying her first egg for the first time must be more confusing and puzzling to a chicken than a little girl getting her period for the first time and not knowing why. Only more painful and frightening. lol All those gals were telling her words of encouragement. Bravo to the gals who recorded this. Great job Vela Homestead 😊👏👏👏🤘
I thought they had tea time and all them old birds tell them young birds like, "Just wait til u start pooping out golf balls for the tall ones just to come in here and take them!! We just want to take a break!!!!" Amen, couldn’t have said that any better! Chicken traumatized!
1AM was the same thing 8AM said the way to make sure that I had done so much better and it will go on the same way they can and I think you can be 6AM with a few days and I have a lot more than a year or more to be a good time 9688feet but I can see that I'm going out to the point where you can do that and it has to go to my friends in my life in my life in my life in the world of a lot to do it in
My hens just started laying about 3 weeks know. I also let them roam. But when it was time to lay they used the nesting box that I had a fake egg there
I once had a hen which i named good mama cause she was such a good mother, she wouldnt go out to eat or anything so i named her good mama and i use to take her food and water to her s she wouldnt worry.
It would be great for odor and for the girls if you have an eight inch layer of straw on the floor of the coop. You can put it in your compost when it's time to change it. Or as mulch in your garden. It helps keep them warm in winter as well. So glad your are providing awe for your family as well as a connection to the food on their table. So many lacking knowledge that everything we eat is a sacrifice which should never be wasted nor taken for granted.
My chicken just started laying, the other hasn’t yet but every day it’s been from 12-3pm she lays. And the one who doesn’t lay is the one making this bok bok noise! She’s crazy! While the other silently lays
I'm new to chickens & had a question..my brahma hens are 13 weeks old & spend all day free ranging our property & go back in the coop on there own at night..will my hens lay in their nesting boxes or somewhere on our property?? We have 1 hen who is singing like crazy lately...
Also depends on amount of sunlight. For example, if they’re born in summer or fall in Northern Hemisphere then they may be significantly delayed during winter months when they’d reach maturity. They need about 12-14 hrs of daylight. You may be able to “assist” them by adding proper lighting to your coop/run area if it is is too dark & cold. (Best to turn on any artificial lighting in early am so not to mess with their internal clocks too much).
@@TruthFirst005 I have owned bantams, Seramas and these girls, and a few other breeds and get our first eggs around 5-6 months with each breed! It seems normal to me!
That’s what I thought as well. The first time I heard this noise was when my young rooster noticed a predatory bird in a tree nearby and the bird actually flew away. He clearly had not laid an egg. It’s strange because when you search egg song videos, you only hear this one, when the actual egg song is less sharp and more like an actual song.
Considering she laid an egg and started making these noises, and this is how my flock sounds every time they lay their eggs to this day, it is in fact, their egg song. 🤷♀️
I know it probably sounds crazy, but I love listening to my chickens sing.

I played this for my hens who are about to start laying and they started to get a little excited 😂
🤣
@@hillbillyhomestead1966the one and only liar is the so called "president Donald Dump" in the US.
I’m so playing it for my reluctant girls in hopes they will start laying again. It’s been two months and not like them to go on strike this long.

the nest is so narrow for her..you neeed to expand it
Sounds like she’s yelling. This hurts!!!
where's the🥚egg ? If I can't see it, it didn't happen - I saw nothing to crow about there
Do they lay eggs only in the morning, or can it be any time during the day?
My chickens lay eggs sun up to sun down.
@@mezenman thanks for responding. I didn't know this.

Why do some of them have on red leg bands and others are purple? Aren't they all hens?
It’s how I told apart certain hens we had named since they all looked mostly identical!

I put a fake egg in the nesting box and that's where my chickens start laying. It been about 3 weeks know. I'm new at this as well
I placed a golf ball in the nesting box and that's where my first chicken laid her first egg in that same nesting box!!
My chikens dosnt laying egg after six months...
Do you know whats the problem
Are they a fancy breed? Fancy breeds start laying later than breeds that specialize in egg laying. Are you sure they're hens?

Some of my hens laid a little later. Some breeds can be different!

18 weeks? That's very very early.... not even 5 months old. She the only one that lay so early?
AsianAngler all of my Production red hens started laying between 18-20 weeks! I got them from tractor supply!
