- Hamsterley has some very fast trails and we got some great footage of them!
In this mountain biking MTB / enduro POV video we went on some of Hamsterley Forest's best mountain bike trails, including trail centre trails and some of the lesser known off-piste stuff.
I travelled down from Scotland via the Bird Cycleworks Northerly factory. There I met Tomas who would be our guide for the day. To cut a long story short, the trails were epic. I will be returning there at some point in the near future.

The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 7 mounted on the chin of a Fox Proframe helmet using a Gnartec mount. All video editing was completed using Filmora Wondershare 9.3.
The bike being ridden is a Bird Aeris AM9, 150mm 29er enduro bike:

Hamsterley looks amazing and the pace was fast from the off, nice one. Loving the Bird too, I can’t stop dreaming of an Aether since you got yours

Been to Hamsterley a few times but good to see some new stuff. As Tomas says, there is loads more up there yet. Great clip, please keep them coming.

Nice to see that Hamsterley is more than the groomed fast flow trails! The trails looked to hold up well to the wet weather as well!
Defintely. Tomas who I was riding with says there is a hell of a lot more off piste to explore. It did hold up well to the weather. I'm not sure if they have less traffic on them or not? Good times 👍

That bird factory is the holy grail of mountainbiking! looks awesome! That hardpacked dirt looks so good, and those natural-off/piste trails, don't know what to say about that hahaha

Looks great mate. Strangely that's not too far from me (when we're not in lockdown!) but I always think of Glentress and Innerleithen being better! Just shows you don't appreciate what's on your doorstep - until you have no choice, and of course they all have a lot to offer. Watching that footage made me realise what a great place Hamsterley is to go mountain biking - even better when its dryer - much faster! Must checkout those Bird bikes too! Their local place is also not too far away either!
Yeah. Lockdown is really forcing us to appreciate what we have close by eh? Hope you are keeping well mate. I really enjoyed Hamsters. If I was going again I would definitely do a couple of days as the drive is quite long. Maybe I'll get down there again this year... who knows though?

Funny how no matter hard the local trails are - something different makes you think and ride differently :)
Totally. I am really not used to that fast hard pack and I was coming up short on a lot of the jumps. A good argument to try out lots of different places!
Street Pigeon MTB hard to leave the valley though :)

They have a Notherly factory 20 minutes away from Hamsterley. They also do a lot of demo days there 👍

Bloody hell haha, that was immense, great riding, some hairy off piste moments, i'm still getting to grips with super steep, vast improvement for me yesterday but had to bail out of one ridiculous shute into a berm haha, don't you just hate it when you know you need to wipe your lens but can't, superb video mate, i need to get to hamsterley this year 👍

Looked like a cracking day Mate and a good tour around the factory at the end. Did the Mini Enduro at the Forest of Dean today and there were quite a lot Bird bikes there.

Great video as usual man :). I try and not be a fair weather rider, but its been grim recently ... been missing the trails! Not sure if you’ve been, but you should get down to Danny Harts Bike Park... some tasty trails down there :)
I am with you Brian. I don't mind getting wet and muddy but this has been awful... to the point where I've hardly ridden. I haven't been to bike park. Its defo one fir the list! Let's hope this weather improves!!!

Good video , hamsterley looks worth a visit . What does it compare to Tweed valley wise. ?
Ah. Nothing really Gus. No more difficult than the Tweed Valley. The off piste reminded me of Ae forest in places. The trail stuff is maybe a bit like Spooky Wood but faster and smoother... Hope that helps 👍

I'm sure it was just a couple of hours. It's a very compact area so easy to try out a lot of stuff 👍

Can you only do this with full suspension, or can i go for it with a hardtail
You could definitely ride a hardtail at Hamsterley. The trail centre stuff was very smooth 👍
I did Hamsterley on a Bird Zero 29 with a few guys from the owners club last weekend. Nowhere near as fast as them, but fun all the same.
If want a true hamsterly ride hit up the local north east team/brand uncrafteduk, the lads will give you true hammers you have only touched the surface 😂😂
