I’m actually quite excited for this movie. Reminds me of Fosters home for imaginary friends.
Kinda like a live adaptation of the show without the characters though. Though… it’ll be fascinating to see how a live action Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends movie… or at the very least a cgi show revival

6:40 To be fair, Wilt's injuries were a critical part of his character arc that was hinted on but not expanded upon for ages.
I'd expect more imaginary friends based on real people remembered wrong, or their favorite toy that they imagined alive, or a mishmash of things that represent their old home after moving, like common animals, designs, or a personality of their house, like it always was tilted a little off. Stuff like that. I'd also expect real characters but a little wrong, like how a kid would remember them, like Sonic but entirely blue, or Grimace but fluffier.
So basically Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, but live action
Ryan Reynolds and Steve Carell seems like a great match!
Honestly the thing I like the most is the character designs, like, usually when studios do movies like this they have the characters look like they all belong relatively in the same universe which gets really tiring but these designs, they're so different none of them look like they come from the same universe which absolutely makes sense since no kid will have the same style of imaginary friend as another. Like, they're all just my favorite part of the trailer so far.
The movie LOOKS like it could be good, but I'm personally expecting it to struggle at the box office. Hollywood kind of lost people's trust in recent years, so I kind of expect that a lot of people will be reluctant to give it a chance because they expect to be bait and switched. It also doesn't help that they gave a major supporting role to an actress whose last big role was an unlikable "heroine" from a box office flop that was controversial and unpopular for all the same reasons everyone is turning away from Hollywood already.

There is actually a show about imaginary friends called HAPPY! It’s about a hitman teams up with a buck tooth imaginary unicorn named Happy to save the hitman's daughter from a drug-addicted psychopath Santa Claus.

This feels like one of those movies that would definitely be talked about before it comes out. And when it does, people will see it, and will almost immediately forget it's existence. Kinda like a certain other Ryan Reynolds movie that came out nearly 2 years ago
It looks it has potential, but I wouldn't consider it to be a masterpiece. Plus, something like this has already been done before.

I like Ryan Reynolds but im not like a super fan or anything like that, but so far he kinda looks like he's suited for a role like this, in my eyes at least. But the reason im excited to see this is what Dazz mentioned a few times, John Kransinski's Writing and Direction and also the concept. John worked on A Quiet Place 1&2 and they were both good (1st one is better, imo) and since he's working on this, im excited.
also Ryan Reynolds was Guy from the Croods, the Croods was a funny caveman movie, I like dreamworks but Ryan Reynolds voicing in this gives me Detective Pikachu vibes lol
This trailer reminds me of _Slumberland_ starring Jason Momoa... maybe is something in the production design or in the cinematography, or maybe is the idea of "famous actor and little girl having a _serious_ adventure in a _silly_ world", but they both feel similar to me
The Rubberhose-Style Bug Lady Bee is just so cute, also the Bubble that looks south park style-like being voiced by Awkwafina is crazy, I never knew Awkwafina could voice a Bubble, also Amy Schumer playing a big Gummy Bear is funny, cause the Gummy Bear is like Velvet from Trolls 3 but a IF lol

Why do I feel like a twist ending is, it's revealed Ryan Reynolds has been an imaginary friend the whole time. He just was believed in more or something, so he seemed more human and legit.

I think if this movie had some 2D animated imaginary friends along with the CGI ones it would be a lot more interesting. Or even a variety of different animation styles. Obviously more pricey but, more interesting. Plus it would show how different each kid was with coming up with their own imaginary friend.

I'm a fan of Ryan Reynolds because he's quite a good at what he does. I mean I don't mind any plots but when I see a interesting one. Then it's this movie. I mean I am excited about because well it's Ryan Reynolds because he does a good job at what he does anything that's works. You know like jack black when he does whatever he wants with filmmaking. But not in a bad way. Remember how much a amazing job he did at bowser in the mario movie. Which he ruled that movie hard btw. But how about we should give ryan the respect that he deserves like all the time. ( except you disney. ) I mean I do like some things in the trailer. SGI's great, the marshmallow joke got me, I like some of the designs of the characters, i love the design for the second main IF character ( if you know what I'm talking about ), there's a few jokes that were great, and I'm looking to this one. I'm also a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds not only because of his sense of humor being so strong, he churns in hilarious performances and also hilarious commercials.

Thank you for talking about this movie! When I saw the trailer once it came out, I was amazed thinking it has such potential, and it felt like one of those movies you would make a video on. It took you awhile, but I’m glad you didn’t skip it. Definitely seeing it in theaters with my gf! Krasinski, Reynolds, and Carell are the goated trio!!
The purple IF looked too much like Oh from Home to me and it put me right off.
Imaginary Friends as a general story concept is one of those things with an incredible amount of potential, but outside of Foster’s, it really hasn’t gotten much really *good* representation.

I'm not too fussed either way but I will say Ryan Reynolds seems like the perfect actor to play the adult alongside kids, with how fun and wholesome he is I don't think anyone else could do that kind of dynamic better, and he has had roles already playing alongside a kid as the main characters, like that time travel one what was it Project Adam? Idk I never watched those ones. But it does seem to be an aspect of film he works well in. And I like the idea of child actors getting to work with someone like him, I can't imagine it's the best kind of way to grow up being a child actor, but working alongside good people that you can have fun with like that is for sure a nice thought

If i had a nickel for every live action imaginary friends movie coming out in 2024.....I'd have two nickels, which isn't much buts its weird that there are two of them.
It's not that weird to have two movies with similar premises come out in the same year. Everyone is trying to come up with the next big thing and with only a handful of major studios sometimes they hear things and want to make something similar or someone shops an idea around and one studio will buy it while another will try to make it without paying the person who brought it to them so everything is changed just enough to avoid a lawsuit. Or movies will be in production at different times but end up releasing at the same time. The following pairs came out in the same year.

Right off the bat, the visuals remind me of Imaginary Mary, a show that explored the imaginary friend concept as a CG and live action hybrid. I had high hopes for it when it came out, but it ended up not being that good.

6:58 I think maybe the antagonist will actually be an imaginary friend (my theory is the bendy-bug lady) who was hurt they were forgotten again and again and wants to bring all the other IFs "to life" or something, as...revenge? Not sure what you'd call it. Or maybe its like a mix of what you said like a person having to confront their old IF which could also be the main antagonist? Idk if that's been done before but that was my immediate thought when I first saw this trailer.

I honestly love Ryan Reynolds movies, just like I love Jim Carrey movies, or Adam Sandler movies, they are all fun personalities with different levels of dark to wonky humour! It is a movie that can't go wrong. I watched a documentary on why people stop casting Jim Carrey a few years back, and I don't see why people got sick of his character, he was great as a serious actor as well! I don't think it is right to type cast anyone, because they are talented actors, they CAN be more than their own personality. Plus, we need more movies that are just good for everyone. I personally love horror movies, but I can't watch 99% of them with the family or friends who don't like horror. I am grateful to be able to turn to Ryan Reynolds for a feel good movie, with interesting thought premises, but also just wild enough that the kids find it funny as well! There is DEPTH in a lot of these movies for all generations, so we can come back to them at different ages and appreciate the movie for different reasons. Or just have a good time

There’s going to be 2 imaginary friend movies in 2024, with this one and a blumhouse horror movie called Imaginary
Imaginary did gains negative reviews though, but I'd expect IF to be a contrast to that without horror elements.

I like Ryan Reynolds stuff generally, heck Free guy was on TV a few days ago and I really enjoyed my rewatch. But I didnt even know this movie was coming.
I saw the trailer and the movie looks alright. The purple monster looks like Grimace, cool design but he is not funny. If he couldn't talk like Gromit the dog and was clumsy but kind; i would find him interresting. So far, the monster is a bit annoying ☹Ryan's reactions are funny and the little girl is cute. It will be nice to see thoses 2 helping imaginary friends who are almost forgotten by their partners; like the squeletton's faith in Coco if nobody remembers them.
It doesn't look bad but not amazing either. I'm waiting for Deadpool 3, will definitely see him on the big screen.

I forgot the name of that movie on Netflix, but it’s when he goes back in time to meet the kid version of himself. He’s a great actor when he wants to be serious. I feel like he’s gonna do something like that with this movie. Also, Deadpool 3 & Argile are the two main movies I’m looking to watch theatrically this year.

However everything else makes this feel like another horrible "look at me I'm an actor" movie like Jack Black's Guliver's Travels or any adam sandler movie or any will ferrel movie... A movie where it's clearly built as a frame around one actor instead of the actor playing a part in the movie.
