Tago-Ken smashes are really something in this game. The play-stile might look different but both are crazy fast with such high quality in the shuttle control. Thanks for the beautiful highlight.
Kenichi Tago is one of the most "stubborn" players to beat on court. His reading of LCW's play was suberb and he was able to anticipate even the difficult returns from LCW.
Tago was a highly talented player, arguably even more than Momota. The fact that he was competitive against the top players in the world was testimony to his innate talent. Pity that his professional career was short lived. Had he been able to stay the course, we'd have had seen even more competitive and exciting badminton on the circuit.
He won this against LCW that doesn't means you will say anything....First of all we can clearly see thats not LCW'S day and 2ndly Momota is way ahead what Tago performed....Just not Lcw's day.
LMAO one good match in a 17-2 h2h record between them and you're convinced that Tago is better than momota, what a joke. Clearly your badminton knowledge is that of a 5 y/o
Original comment meant Tago was better than Momota in regards to talent only. Talent doesn't determine which player is better in general. Talent x effort is what derermines how good a player is. In my opinion, Momota may have had slightly less talent than Tago, but the amount of effort Momota put in is phenomenal and could well go beyond Tago did, making Momota a better player than Tago overall.
Such a memorable match from Tago as this was the first time he was able to beat LCW. Showcased the potential he had if he kept his consistency and focus
2012 to 2014 were probably the best years of Tago - Japan's ace before Momota. I remember watching Japanese national tournaments where he'd casually beat a younger Momota, sometimes looking as if he's just playing around. Certainly one of the "what ifs" of badminton; nonetheless, he still considerably did great in an era led by LCW and LD.
Tago is one of a good talent from Japan. Japan in 2000s far behind before PJB spill the secret to Japanese. Tago rise to prominence 2007 but he is lack of motivation and tempted by gambling. His discipline and motivation fade away until got cuaght with Momota. I remember saw his racket when in Indo Open back then using 2U 😂
I always think its momota is one of the hardest player u can beat in his prime, absolute power smash, great defense and speed is something u can use ur hand like Tago or brain like Lin Dan can beat, only person can stop him is that u have to be faster than Momota so he cant defense and decrease his play style, now men single rarely has someone with that speed like mmt or Ginting. I really love mmt play style
Tago was the only japanese attack oriented player. Now they are most defensive players among the top japanese MS and boring to watch. And still Tago never won any super series even once, that shows the strength of the era at that time
Why youtube always recommend me badminton matches where LCW loses i wanted to see him win atleast once. I saw alot of matches, Lindan, Chen Long, Kento Momota, and others but LCW loses like why 💀. I love LCW and youtube made me watch him lose is this somekind of mental torture?
it's not bad bro, there were so many good players can not beat lee even once, such as shi yuqi, wang zhengming, even strong as Viktor Axelsen can only beat lee 3 times but lose more than 10 times, lee is unbelievable!
@@kenji2342 ya and LCW winning rates among all player was higher than LD, and his lost to LD didn't effect his ranking. LCW was assigned with back to back tournaments. 😑

Tago opened up the path for the domination of japan man single players

To add some, they played 19 times, and Tago only won 2 times. 👍🏻
it was the second time that tago beat lee, the first time was 2013 france open.

@@vitorlam9046 To be honest, I'd say LCW would still have won the decider if it came down to that.

Tago vs Momota? Who is better at their best?
i would say momota personally

Kenta nishimoto is the last offensive japanese player haha

LCW shot selection in the first set was so bad, his lifts and flicks are short by so much. By the third set, Tago really popped off, no excuses
Great sharing with great quality of this video.

What’s the current status of Tago?
He does coaching and RUclips. Also he gained a lot of weight lol

Why it was Tago who scored after 9:02 rally? Can someone explain?
umpire called fault on LCW for striking the shuttle before it had crossed the net. (I am not convinced that the call was justified, btw ^^)
