- Gorilla baby Venus from London Zoo.
This footage was filmed on the 2nd September 2024. Mum Effie and her baby Venus were spending some time on their own in the indoor gymnasium. During the time I watched them they had lots of cuddles and play fights, and of course the toe incident! Venus bites Effies' toe, and it looks like she clamped down quite hard. Effie didn't really react though, just moved her foot.
They were in a lovely playful mood and it was a delight to watch.

I'm not sure where the cuddling and playing was, to me Effie looked like a drugged-up floozy, who didn't care one way or the other if the thing that plopped out of her awhile back, was there hanging out. Every video I see at the zoo, the adult gorillas all look like they swallowed one too many Valium, the babies are raising themselves and have to hope the spirit moves their moms and they get in a good mood, good enough to allow the babies to nurse. That is if they can climb within reach of the source by themselves, cause expecting the mothers to actually pick them up and hold them to their chest, well, that's a bit much...nobody can be bothered to interrupt their endless naps to help a baby nurse... Effie's baby is an absolute angel, cute as a button. It's a shame she's growing up in an indifferent environment, on a good day, and a hostile environment the rest of the time. And if the mothers haven't killed their babies somehow, or laid on their dead arse while another gorilla is busy trying to kill them, the zoo practically calls them "Mother of the Year." I only drop by to see if the little ones are still alive. I find it strange that while Juno is the older of the two babies and looked almost dead 2 months ago, we never see videos of that baby. Where is Juno? I'm guessing Heaven, bless its sweet heart.
@Loonyintheboony, Juno was in the short I released a few days ago where the babies had a quick wrestle with each other. She was definitely alive and actually giving Mjukuu a hard time. She was definitely in a rebellious mood on that day. Unfortunately, the few times i was able to film, my filming was terrible, and I was jiggling the camera so much it could give averyone a headache!
I'm sorry that you don't trust me and my explanations on how I interpret the behaviours of the troop. I have replied to all of your comments and given you my email address so that I could try to do a live film at a time you could log in. As far as I am aware, you haven't replied. There has to be a balance, and some doubters balance the believers, and I'm getting better at accepting it.

@@Ape_AppreciationIt’s that Effie doesn’t have a good record with raising babies and the videos showing Alika’s mauling of Venus were just very upsetting. Whether it’s normal behavior or not is debatable. Also, there is some loyalty to the previous videographer who was truly upset. It’s not personal. Thank you for your work and your insight.
If u want to see a gorilla mum who is not indifferent and every minute she's alive she devotes to her baby then check out Cleveland metropark zoo kebi moyo and baby kunda. I have never seen such love and devotion as kebi gives kunda. I don't know why but u can see it in her face when she looks at her Freddie and Dalila are good mommas but kebi is unusual. There isn't one indifferent bone in her body. Check her out u will see

Eu realmente quero que mudem esse modelo arcaico de Zoo, para o mais parecido com um santuário, que nesses lugates só trabalhem quem realmente ama os animais, eu quase fui estagiária em um Zoo, mas não fui indicada, mesmo amando os animais, está faltando empatia e humanidade na hora de cuidar dos animais, infelizmente. Vênus está linda, mas fico preocupada cada vez que Alika se aproxima.
