And usually they prefer those who they perceive to be somehow weaker than them or otherwise unprepared to stand up for themselves. Some of us carry outside with an air of confidence that gives would-be antagonists pause. But in the real world, some of those who seem the most vulnerable can prove to be fairly formidable. The only safe assumption is that there are few safe assumptions.
