Would love it if you did a video on how you acclimate fish. I only buy locally as I hesitate to plop and drop shipped fish as my water is way softer than most breeders. I would have to set up my quarantine tank to same pH and TDS/gH of breeder and then lower to match my tanks. I just lost 5 beautiful peppered corys that I thought I acclimated carefully over 2 hours but I believe they died mostly from stress related infections over period of two weeks, even with treatment. Thinking of going back to drop acclimation like you mentioned in your video.
I just got my first two goldfish one is hiding on the inside of a decorations being still one is on the outside being still they haven't eaten yet i think its the water what do i do?
I’ve found hiding spots and wavemaker are awesome to break up aggression. My friend slowly grew out a school of silver dollars 15 of em and they break up focus of his aggressive monsters.
Yeah that's something I should have considered when housing fragile fish like my mesoheros ornatus, those guys really need as mild of a tank as possible, but not peaceful because then they'd go wild killing less aggressive fish
I just bought a platinum betta fish and all is in good condition he eat and not do anything weird and suddenly he just going crazy and jump 5 times in 2 sec and i am so worried everytime i walk at him he will jump and knocked the tank with his face... Help pls thanks 😊
I just finished cycling my 55 gallon and fairly new at this. I got three kissing gouramis and one red finned shark . are the kissing gouramis aggressive towards other fish and can I keep small schooling fish with them?
The gourami can be kept with schooling fish over 2 inches, smaller than that then they mate become a meal as kissing gourami can grow to 6-7 inches. Fish like serape tetra, Buenos Aires tetra, skirt tetra, tiger barbs. etc. The most aggression you'll notice is between their own kind, or any other similarly sized or similarly looking fish
Worst thing happened, woke up and almost all my fish were dead, the tank wasn't the 10 gallon but my 75G, my Royal pleco, juvenile red devil, my angel fish (Who lived with the red devil for a year) but my 4 inch arowana and baby 5 inch peacock bass survived.
I woke up and my filter was backfiring even though it was clean, that may not be the reason, I forgot to say that my red devil is alive he was suffering swim bladder disease and I took him to a quarantine tank, then put him back after medication, he chased the arowana and bass until they were hiding, he may be the reason or the filter.
May I ask what kind of plants you recommend? Right now I have a five gallon with a lone Oranda. He’s happy for now but I’m thinking of adding plants and maybe another fish.
I have 3 blood parrot cichlids and at the pet store they looked perfectly healthy swimming and everything. But once I put them in my tank they all just laid there on the bottom. It's currently day 3 and they are still laying on the bottom and kinda eating. What do I do?!?!?!?!?
I got 2 baby goldenfish 3 days ago and I put them in a small tank it has a little decoration inside of it but the problem is one of them died today and the other is acting strange like it isn't moving at all only staying at the bottom of the tank I feed it three times a day (that's what the seller told me to) plus the water just keep turning yellowish?? I changed it 2 times already, and there's this food I brought for my fish it just has a smelly fishy Smell is it normal?? I don't really know what to do now 😭
You should get your water tested, if your over feeding your fish you'd have a high ammonia or nitrate reading...that will help you to determine what to do next
Hi Darius. Just wondering what kind of fish (i think some sort of cichlid) at 7:00 is. They look beautiful. Any1 else who knows if you could let me know I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and thank you for another great vid!
I placed some pothos plants in my 180 gallon with hopes of reducing nitrates. The roots are in the water and the leaves above water. It's been over a month and the roots have not grown downward as white, stringy filaments like yours. The leaves remain green, but no signs of growth. I heard pothos don't need much care. My aquarium lights are on only on two hours daily with hopes of reducing green tinted water. The plants look like they did the first day I put them in the aquarium. I do a 25% water change weekly.
Underthebus,Your fish may be eating the roots as fast as they can grow. Root your pothos in a jar on a sunny window sill until well established. You can use fish water to get it started. Also, maybe resnip the ends of the plants on an angle. Once well rooted, place the roots over an airhose or place in a HOB filter.Hope this helps!
Yes some fish may destroy the roots as they grow so growing it in a protected are like in a HOB filter if your using one helps. Also, while these plants don't require a lot of light, I think 2 hours isn't enough...mine are under my tank light for 8 hours which is why I believe I'm getting such good growth. 6-8 hours of light will provide greater growth
@@dwsdarius Thanks for the reply. Upon your suggestion, I increased my lighting from two hours to four, sometimes six. I had the lights on only for two hours daily in order to keep algae from forming and becoming a nuisance.
That could have an effect if the tank is fairly new. The filter holds beneficial bacteria and tap water kills it on contact which could have severe effects on newly established tanks, however if your tank has been running for a year or longer its a good chance beneficial bacteria is not only in your filter but all over your substrate and other décor in the tank so if you do kill the bacteria in the filter, the bacteria in the tank is still benefiting the tank
It takes time, if you just got it the other day it can take days or even weeks for it to adapt to its new home. Try enticing it with different foods like blood worms
I had 4 Molly fishes in a small transparent container (around 3-5 litres) they did look crowded. And within a week and a half, two of the Mollys died. They don't seem to be healthy and swimming about and suddenly they drop dead. Can you tell me the possible reasons why this is happening?
Did you keep them in that container or transfer them into a larger tank? If you kept them in the container then they were poisoned from the waste that they produced...the toxic nitrites killed them quick in that tank size. They need a larger tank with a good filter
@@dwsdarius i kept them in the same tank. But I had some gravel at the bottom and a devil's snare and bamboo plant.. which I thought would take away the toxins.. and I do 30% water change every 4 days. Do you think they could still die of the nitrites? And if so would they die one by one?
Yes In that size tank the plant wasn't able to remove as much nitrite as the fish produced. You'd need a larger tank with a filter to keep them alive. The nitrite can kill them all at once of one at a time depending on how high they are
@@dwsdarius thank you for your insight. I do not have the finances to buy a tank and filter right away. Could you suggest anything, if you know, to deal with the nitrites? I have two Mollys left and I really don't want them to die
@@beepboopbeep1571Well your only bet is to change is to change your water as often possible. Perhaps every other day, just make sure you treat the new water with water conditioner
Few days ago, I bought a baby tiger oscar fish and kept him separately in a quarantine tank and till now the fish is stressed n not eating much...what shall i do now??
New fish may go a few days without eating. First try raising the temperature in the tank to about 82°F, this will speed up the metabolism of both the fish and parasitizes (if that's the case). If the fish eat in the warmer waters it could be nothing but the fish needing time to adjust to its new environment. If the fish still doesn't eat then it may be a parasite and you would need to identify and then treat
I do anywhere between 25% to 75% depending on how much time I have on my hands. The greater the percentage the better...so long as you use full dosage of water condition and try your best to match temperature.
kvandy5989 no way, don’t every do so many water changes, the fish is used to their tank water. Do it once and then it won’t be to severe keep doing and they will be stressed how much it’s changing
This was so informative!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching
I'm letting my fishes watch is😂😂😂
Lol let them learn

I meant drip acclimation.
Well I may be getting some new fish soon, so I'll try to get a video showing how I drip acclimate

What's your tank size?
A lot fish try to escape their water because it's too small that ammonia built up enough to burn their gills.
Good educational video 🙏🏻

If my fish is just not moving and I was using the filter from my fish that died and was dead In the tank for like 10-15 hours.
