A Legrand - Yamandu Costa

On this 24th of February 2021, this great and inspired French composer, the fantastic Michel Legrand, would be 89 years old.
I remember the emotion I had, even in my childhood, when I watched the movie "The Summer knows" whose wonderful score was composed by Legrand.
When the melody played by the violins entered, I was deeply touched, and without even realizing it, that melody aroused deep and intense emotions in me: the music, perhaps, would visit me that way for the first time.
Already in the middle of a pandemic, last summer, we spent a few days at my wife Élodie's family home, in the countryside of France, in a charming and inspiring city called Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.
The atmosphere and the place led me to compose this melody that tries to get closer to Legrand's musical aura.
I leave here my simple but sincere tribute to this wonderful creator of unforgettable melodies. Long live the music!
