About this video: I’m reviewing the vans zahba mid by giving my own personal experience. Don’t take it too harshly it’s just my opinion.
Buy the shoe: www.vans.com/en-us/shoes-c000...
they do look sick, like a cup sole halfcab
Yeah like they blended a couple things together. Definitely a good looking shoe!
That's what I was thinking
I love these guys who give their actual opinion when skating shoes
Thank you! I will keep it up!
Honestly, looks like a really good hiking shoe. Even reminds me of hiking shoes from the 80s and 90s. Vans tend be light and "hiking" shoes tend to be heavy, so i usually prefer walking in my vans anway.
I’ve never hiked before, but these are definitely good to the walk-in.
@prodigalsonresurrection Gave myself plantar fasciitis hiking in my vans, be careful out there lol. Also pro tip - vans' bmx shoes have more cushion and a removable insole. The bmx slip ons are usually on sale too. They just feel like a better made version of the classic slip ons.
Vans are definitely on the down trend imo. Love my new balances and how they fit the foot more naturally. 100% agree about the Tiago’s. Dope, honest review
Yo I appreciate this comment! Makes me miss my new balance 😂
Never skated mine but been wearing the low's as work shoes for like 4-5 months now. They're pretty solid, walking 11 miles a day on concrete/pavement and the sole has hardly worn out
They definitely make good work shoes
@@Ernie_Creates Agreed and they don't make my feet hurt either. I think their biggest mistake is that they simply missed when it came to marketing the shoe
As a skateboarder that works for vans, I truly love skating the low zahbas and think they have a great feeling on the board. I hate skateboarding in the mid shoes and think the "boardfeel" is terrible.
Don't know how they managed to make the two so different, but the low Zahbas have been my main skate shoe for a year now.
Yo I’m gonna pin this! You cool with that? Btw thank you for telling me about the lows. The MIDS had me scare to try them.
@@Ernie_Createsbro if you haven’t def check out the Rowan 2s, I’m skating a pair rn. Make sure to try them a .5 size up tho
Love the content, Ernie. Always the good stuff!
Thank you 🙏🏾 more on the way!
Some cup soles just have too little grip, but in turn will last for walking miles and miles. It’s always a trade off. I can attest to being hurt from skating a shoe with too little grip, but great for durability. A soft rubber will always be the best for skating, but ofc not be very durable
Great point!
great videos. no b.s. , no clickbait, good commentary.👏
Thank you 🙏🏾 more great videos coming
I like the lows. They took longer than most other Vans to break in, but they're durable, have good board feel, and good impact protection
Thank you for this. I wish I had gotten the Lows. I’ve been hearing a lot of people say that shoe is better.
Idk about the mids but really like the lows. Havent fully skated them yet but seemed solid. I dig there aves grip but the heel and ankle support not great but the ave 2 look sick.
I originally wanted the lows. I want to try the ave 2s
I got these at Ross for cheap. I tried them on and thought they were comfortable but not a good skate shoe. I just wear them to chill. The sole is thick and narrow, definitely contributes to ankle rolling
I agree with you!
Wish i could wear them. I went a full size up and they still crush my arch area.
That sucks dude. Have you tried the lows?
@@Ernie_Creates I tried the low. Haven't tried the mid actually. Holding out hope the new 440v2 New Balances in wide sizing fit good. Finally saw them in stock and ordered them.
They look like cool shoes, they sound better for just walking in then skating in.
100% agree! I just wear them to work now
I really tried to like the Zahba but man, I just couldn’t get into them. Grip was off I agree and the shape of the shoe just didn’t work for my feet. Put on some Kyle Walkers mid session and didn’t put the Zahba back on again.
Which Kyle walkers did you get?
I totally thought they were like a cupsoul half cab. I have not skated mine yet I'm afraid to watch this video
Just wear the soles down a bunch. If you still want to skate them if not I would just keep them as walking shoes.
I'm always skeptical of skate products being advertised with new technology. Basically that is just the shoe company using their consumers (us) in an experiment to see what they can sell us. Nothing works better than classic, basic products. That's why the best selling skate shoes of all time are Half Cabs, Janoskis, and Blazers.
I agree with you been wanted to try a pair janoskis but they just seem thin.
Ever since Vans dropped the Pro Classics line for the Skate Classics line, the shoes have felt worse. Shoes are longer and narrower in the worst type of way. Even the Skate Sk8-Hi made me roll my ankle multiple times because of a lack of heel stability combined with not enough flex in the forefoot and a much higher heel portion of the insole.
These shoes look sick, but I had to stop buying Vans after loving them for skating and casual wear for 15+ years.
Man now you got me concerned about buying more vans 😂. I want to review more of them in the future. Got any recommendations?
It's a cool look for sure but, given all that being said and the hefty price point when they first dropped, it's safe to say to stay away from them and to a degree, current Vans shoes in general.
I used to love skating Vans when they had the PRO series but when they shifted to the 'SKATE' series (Also, can we talk about how that rename is so redundant?) Things started to fall off badly at least, in my honest opinion. I've skated 3 pairs of the adidas Tyshawn and I've never looked back to Vans since then.
How are the Tyshawn’s treating you?
@@Ernie_Creates Fucking awesome man! The traction for me is a solid 10/10. The cushion is just right for me as I'm not too big on cushions being super plush or rock hard, this one is firm and stays strong all day everyday. It's a unique looking shoe as you really don't see that many good midtop cupsole shoes available for everyone (Yes Nike SB, I'm looking at you!) I will admit the break in process is a pain but once that's done the shoe holds up well, the only complaint I have is the tongue slides around as adidas has apparently not caught on to how the elastic straps keep the tongue in place but, that's just a minor complaint for me.
I really found your review awesome.
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it!
They should have made it zions signature. They skated really good for me but the idea of a team shoe is wack. Also no one wants Beatrice color ways they failed on the marketing and branding imo.
Yeah I think vans was trying to get money from an extra demographic on this one. They definitely need to do a better job at the marketing these shoes are still on sale.
So here for the Joslin review. Vans are definitely not my jam. Too slim in the toe box for me.
It’s definitely on the way make sure your subscribed!
I’ve seen those they seem good. But after seeing this, def not getting them. I had a similar experience with the Gilbert Crockets, rolled my ankle bad retired them. Skated them a year later and tore my meniscus which wasn’t necessarily the shoes fault but no way would I get them again. There’s shoes you can tell you’d roll your ankle if you know what I mean. Thanks for the unbiased review
Thanks for the comment. More unbiased reviews coming!
I’ve almost never been a fan of Vans, primarily because most of what they produce is vulcanized shoes. I can’t do vulcs. I liked the Kyle Walker shoes, except the had absolutely no breathability. I just ordered the Rowley XLT because that’s more in my lane and I also liked the original.
I like the hybrid of the vulc cupsole. The Kyle walkers were great. Haven’t tried the rowleys yet but I want to give them a try.
@@Ernie_Creates I was thinking of doing a review on those or the éS 298. I’ve never done a review, but I haven’t seen anyone those. Possibly even the DC JS1.
Like M&Ms the first classic Vans designs are still the best, I think.
Can’t beat a classic!
This shoe was Hella good wtf
Yeah a little too good. They need to be wore for a while then skated. You’ll probably get better results.
I saw them at Ross last week but I was like "nevermind"... And walked away
Yeah unless your gonna walk in them I wouldn’t do it 😂
You don't need Board Feel in a skate shoe.
Hey that’s your opinion and I respect it 🫡
i like the wafflecup sole, like on the wayvees. maybe this is different, but the wayvees are super grippy. i'm happy to trade board-feel for comfort and impact protection. for plantar fasciitis you should freeze a 20oz water bottle and roll your arches over it, or pvc pipe, or lacrosse balls. that ish is awful
Thank you for the advice. I want to skate the wayves soon! They look like a good shoe!
@@Ernie_Creates i like them for a casual wear shoe, they're super comfortable and decent looking. they have a lot of mesh panels, so probably wouldn't hold up to skating as well as some other models, but i have skated in mine a few times and they worked well and felt great. i just like them so much as an everyday shoe i didn't want to destroy them. the wafflecup is like a perfect blend of a cup sole and vulc. it has grip and boardfeel of a vulc, but is durable and one solid piece like a cup sole so you don't have the failure points/blowouts of a vulc.
Board feel is BS. There is no need. If you put your feet in the right place the board does the thing. I choose impact protection every time. I have never had a shoe be too grippy or not grippy enough but if this is way too slippery it might be bad.
Man I wish I didn’t need board feel but for me it’s s necessary. I do think this is a bad shoe for skateboarding though.
board feel is definitely important it allows you to adjust your feet without looking at the board and instead be able to focus on the obstacle you are skating
@@3clubforever idk, my kinesthesia seems to do that.
@@Ernie_Creates I can actually see the utility of it. It just doesn’t seem necessary to me. I alway bring up Rodney Mullen’s tank shoes from the 90’s. You couldn’t feel anything through those and they were worn by the most tech skater there was. There are different legitimate approaches but I’m stubbornly proclaiming to the internet that mine is best cuz I said so.
What the he// RUclips? I came here to respond to some guy named Joe and the comment is gone. ALL HE SAID WAS THAT I DON’T KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! Now we’re not even allowed to disagree? This platform is trash.
forgot the microwave trick i see...
Yes 😂 I will definitely do this next time!
Keep going. Wear a helmet.
Thank you 😊
@@Ernie_Creates your welcome
Lmao. "Transition skater"... Disasters a mini ramp. Maybe it's not the shoe
Good luck to you 😂
