Its kinda sad because I expected an actual podcast, not a scripted vid with some voice clips put in... I don't blame mat for it, he is just the host and youtube is the one making the script. Honestly, if mat got to make a podcast with vtubers on his own channel, it would probably be way better and go more in depth
Oh, easily. The only reason MatPat was even doing the hosting is because of his ties to YT (and with how often he's called them out on their shite, it's a miracle that's still a thing... although no doubt most of it is Stephanie's doing), but I'm sure that if he had the time to devote to it, he'd totally do a "VTuber Theory" channel devoted to talking to the various VTubers in the YT space, because he's always been the sort to reach out and make connections (a necessity when working in theater and acting).

Him calling out YT out o. Their shite is precisely why they keep him around for behind the scene stuff because not only does he point to major flaws, he also tries to offer some kind of solution as opposed to those who complain but offer nothing.
IMO the show is more Podcast produced in mind, you can listen without audio, the most prevalent thing recent podcasts series do is shout out the credits (since Video you can just put in on screen)
I like the YT podcast idea so far, but too short for my usual podcast listen length

It was terrible because it was just sound bites supplied to him by youtube rep based on a read sheet, in an overly scripted piece that lacked any soul or insight. I honestly think Mat forgot how to actually have real conversations with people years ago.
Anthony Padilla did a far better job when he interviewed Ironmouse, Anthony wants the guests to teach him about the subject.

MatPat has been a terrible content creator for a long time. I remember when he used to do theories that had to do with fun things about video games, now its all FNAF.

It was a good NPR-like podcast. I'm sure Calli and Gura are pleased with their part in spreading interest in Vtubers in general to a wider audience that the RUclips Channel has access to, especially to English-language viewers.

I agree. It was like baby's first intro to vTubers. But honestly, if you want to introduce someone to vTubers, just have them watch some clips. That podcast thing was so dumb, I watched less than 3 minutes of it.

When I saw it was a podcast, I was expecting them to have actually chatted together for awhile, like the Trash Taste podcast or Joe Rogan podcast, or pretty much any other podcast. Instead, Goombus and Calli didn't even directly talk with Matpat. I think Calli described it as just talking to some nice lady, instead. For once, i was happy to not have watched it live, so I could just 2x speed most of it and save the time.
I was just glad that we got to meet the Silver Fox again. She stayed very very far away from uwu brattiness when talking to the uninformed viewer.

I have come to realize that I am one of the few, if not the only guy that has absolutely zero idea or interest, as to who the f this "matpat" is.
Basically, I am truly Senchold.
As someone who is also deep into vtuber lore, I didn't make it through the video, I found it a bit too patronizing. I think even if I wasn't a vtuber fan, the tone of the video was "This was meant to air on youtube kids" and that I was 20 years too old to be considered as the target audience.

I kinda just watch his let's play stuff now, despite subpar theories I like his personality. Only theories that he puts any degree of effort into anymore are the FNAF ones or random games with bare bones stories that a quick Google search can the answers.
He just grasps at too many straws when it comes to a lot of recent stuff (past few years). I eventually started only watching to see how easy it was to debunk the theories, which was fun in itself, and far from malicious. I feel like if he wants to continue doing lore content, he should really contact lore experts from the series beforehand. (Mossbag could probably help him come up with a good Hollow Knight theory, Meteorz could have done same for Kirby, and VaatiVidya probably could have altered the direction of the Dark Souls theory he did.)
Alternatively he could go back to focusing on physics implications of game mechanics. Like how the hookshot would rip your arm off or that Termina's moon would have destroyed Termina long before it made contact under real physics.
Gotta say though, I can't understand people's criticism evolving into actual hatred. People treat it as if he threw salt in their eyes and kicked them when downed, then stole their wallet. He just implied a bad theory, he didn't full blown attack you. Please seek anger management.
Mat Pat got lazy, I stopped watching after seeing more adverts than information. And I say information very liberally because it appears the only research his team does is reading wiki articles and rewriting them
