The guide on the Colorado River, Vermilion Cliffs / Lee's Ferry had me fishing with hoppers, about 20-years ago. I never even seen a grasshopper that trip, but, dry fly fishing is so much fun. Nice ant pattern, thanks for sharing. I'd fish that ant on the San Juan. I had a good time fishing a 'snowfly' hatch on the shallow water on the San Juan, above Texas Hole. Here is a dry fly pattern that I recently thought-up: Size 18 to 22 Tiemco 100bl, Veevus 8/0, color of your choice. Metz #1 neck hackle of your choice. Tail - tip fibers / barbules of medium to large neck hackle. Dubbing - down (webby) material from the same feather (I don't use dubbing wax), a bit of thread wraps to enhance the dubbing. Skip the actual wings, using the most delicate hackle pliers that they make, wrap a proportionally-appropriate hackle, from the same neck cape, in front. I try to get the hackle's natural curve to point the eye of the hook, not the hook-point. Finish the fly by tying the head with one or two half-hitches. Aside from the thread, the entire fly is from the same neck cape. The fly has a really toned-down appearance, not flashy. A 'generic' dry fly. I fish it with Gink floatant.

Can’t wait.
Love it, James! 👏🏼
Thanks guys!
Thanks James, I love it, the Ant is soooooo over looked but is amazing 😉
Thank you! Hope you stick a bunch of fish on it.
@@AboutTrout absolutely 😉☕️☕️
Now that we've got that out of the way, how's about a chubby? No fancy hackle needed. Much love, habibi.
Mashallah
Awesome!! Thanks 🎣🎣🎣
😊
hell yea
Is it Fished during the annual big ant drop on the Juan? It’s faster than Eagan’s bionic if you’re not talking.
This is a little smaller than I like to fish for the ant fall. I fish this on the Juan whenever I see heads but it’s also a great all around dry.
