Tariffs were kept in place by Biden. the goal is to bring back US jobs. Cheap labor has causes manufacturing to move overseas. If you don't make anything, you cannot buy anything.
Its a tax on goods coming into the US. Ex. Apple phones, Apple will pay the tariff and increase the price of the phone to recoup the tariff. The consumer will pay the higher price for the phone
@lgee9027 Thanks. But what about cheap goods not made by American companies but by Chinese goods? Who pays the tariff and how does that get passed onto American consumers?
@ the importer of the goods pays the tafiffs. Ex. Dolls made in China shipped here to be sold by Walmart. Walmart will pay the tariffs on the dolls and the price will increase on the dolls paid by the consumers to recoup the tariff costs
As if all but about 3 countries in the world DON'T impose tariffs. The US has been willing to let nations slide in responding because we could afford to do so, and it generated good will. We can't afford that any longer, and we're finally, decades too late, waking up to that fact. Anyone who doesn't stock up as a matter of course isn't very bright. Tariffs did raise prices in 2018, plus the billions and billions and billions of bailout money for the US farmers who were hit hardest by the tariffs. We sold less than half of our normal export of goods to China, and the taxpayers pretty much paid for the food to be given away for "free" to school children and food banks. And 2020's excuse for inflation was quickly realized to be a cash grab from every massive corporation that supplies 90% of our consumables. IMO Decades worth of fallout- Iran war, airline buyout, auto industry buyout, housing buyout, bank buyout, C19, Ukraine...how else has taxpayer money been misspent?
I just don't get tariffs. Who actually pays, and how does that get passed on to consumer?
Tariffs were kept in place by Biden. the goal is to bring back US jobs. Cheap labor has causes manufacturing to move overseas. If you don't make anything, you cannot buy anything.
Dude, there are videos explaining that stuff, dont be lazy and look it up
Its a tax on goods coming into the US.
I am stocking up on toilet paper. I'm starting to get hit by a wave of premium, liquified, enchanced, BS.
Tariffs don't last too long, just an attention getter to belly up to the table. There is plenty of international competition to replace tariffs.
The only thing I use my computer for is my website. Everything else is done from my phone.
Why would you link COVID into a tariff discussion? Different pressures.
Things happen: Illness, unemployment, kneejerk lockdowns; Those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail. No one knows which items will be affected, if any. Trumps not even IN office yet, and anyone who runs their life by what a politician tells them needs a keeper.
The other day I saw 2 stories on the news that made me laugh and they were put on back to back. Consumers spending up but more people are using food banks than ever before. How is this?
Most of your food goods and raw materials to make them are in the US. Clothing, shoes and electronics yes are overseas. Essentials are US manufactured. How many purses do you need?
I bought birthday gifts and Christmas gifts for the next 5 years. I bought medication for one whole year.
How about medicine? Ninety percent are made overseas because they are a lot cheaper to make there. The brand names they make here are too costly.
@@RobinRockefeller That is true, but in the long run we need that manufacturing back. That is the point of the tariff. Having another country make life saving medicine could be dangerous in times of conflict. We have to think long term. We can absolutely make medicine here.
@@RobinRockefeller the drug companies don't have a choice. This is america. The voters decide.
@@ST-rj8iu And it's tariffs on everything from overseas according to him. Here's some questions..Who is going to pay to rebuild those plants for manufacturing ? And how quick do you think they can do it?A year? And where do you think they will get the materials to do it? Canada? Overseas? And who is going to make up for the wage disparity between what Americans make and what they pay their workers now?
Stock up on what? Toilet paper? Puhleezzzzzzzzzzz.
The Karen is full of it! President Trump has a plan!
The other countries pay the tariffs...duh

Tariffs didn't raise prices in 2020 so whatever.. bring it on
Yes they did. They also cratered US soy exports.
If you think that the inflation over the tariff war is going to be temporary, you clearly have way too much faith in the goodness of humanity.

Hey, Maria President Trump is counting on these countries to change their tune. The tariffs are stick if they comply the tariffs go away. These countries have huge tariffs on our country already.
Food shouldn’t go up we get our food from inside our country right !
All the workers are being deported
Oh look y'all more fear being spreaded😂😂😂😂 how many times y'all going to tell us a stock up for something My goodness
If you aren't already stocked up, you've been doing it wrong.
Tariffs is flat out 3rd party stealing.
If you’re in doubt about price increases then maybe save instead of going out to stocking up! That way if prices don’t increase you’re fine and if they do increases you have a a little cash tucked back to help. 👍
I think prices will increase, but I’m not going to go out and buy a bunch of stuff. I’m going to save and change how I buy in the future. I have been sacrificing since Covid hit and I’ll just keep living with less. No biggie! Besides, Americans consume way too much junk anyway. I also plan to donate when I can to local food banks, some folks have way less than my family does.
Did MSNBC buy Fox? Maybe they are excited about our futures . Im confused? Im going to spend less because I currently cant afford to over spend.
All the Chinese crap these retailers purchase.

After 4 years of Bidenflation we are looking forward to instant relief, nothing in my lifetime has been this bad since the 60’s and 70’s.
He comes the bogus fear mongering weve heard for ever. Stop the lies!!!
Notice they didn't put " " around so called "experts".
What is an expert? What qualifies them?
Yes, we all remember the terrible shortages that occurred between 2017 - 20. We had to eat ferns we dug out in the forest at my house. Here we go again with all the hard times we had under president Trump the first time.
Trump's tariffs will crush the entire N American auto industry. Still glad you voted for him, Michigan?
Only Americans will buy the expensive Crap they make !!!!
100% imma keep on keeping on by not participating in the fear movement ✌️
MADE IN AMERICA! Then no tariffs needed!!
Not one company has agreed to relocate here.

This woman has no idea what she’s talking about, inflation was an all-time low last time. Trump was an office and did this or did you forget that? 😂😂
Not this year, all the sales suck.
Traffic to stores haven't only been about the weird and woke crap, it's also because the majority of the items are only available online and have to be shipped! It's frustrating that they don't carry hardly anything in the stores anymore. The tariffs thing, we have no idea who is going to do what, because Mexico's president keeps talking out of both sides of her mouth.
That is a bad idea.
