Really enjoy your videos. I’m battling severe depression and your videos have really help to raise my spirits. You and Joslen are super high vibe. Thankyou. 🦁❤️🙏.
great job on the jerky Taku! my daughter and i have been bonding over mushroom foraging and went out a few weeks ago here in Ontario, Canada. we found many honey and lobster mushrooms. We made a hotpot with them and also she has a dehydrator and processed them that way. what a delicious free treat that means so much more when you can find and cook them yourself with the ones you love :)
Many thanks for another great production! You are truly blessed to have the King Boletes as plentiful as that where you are; I have only found a few in the 50 years I have been gathering mushrooms where I live. Lots of Chanterelles and Morels which I have been dehydrating for many years. I will take the dried mushrooms and run them through a food processor, turn them into a powder and mix that into fresh pasta dough. Makes awesome pasta! Best wishes for the two of you in the Holiday season and the coming New Year.
Great found! Awsome foraging! In Poland we dry them outside on fresh air, put them on sunshine. I personally put them on a wicker plate. After they are dryout we use them with meat to flavour the meat and gravy and of course we eat then with the meal. Nice video :)))
Epic video!! Been thinking about the same thing!! I’ve been reading the comments and wish people could be more positive with you being a citizen of our ecosystem rather than a consumer. Some people live in a tiny box. You are a great teacher! I thank you!
Oh, man... that looks Amazing! Even after a bout of chemo (where hardly anything food-wise is even remotely appealing), that looks Absolutely amazing! 😊👍
😂Yeah, I’ve had some mushroom trips before… but the foraging part was hours later than the peak, it usually involved a 7-11 at wee hours of the night. 😂
The other day, I was just thinking about how a mushroom jerky would probably taste very good. It's good that you made some, that motivates me to try preparing mushroom jerky.
@@spideymcgee4718 The french name "bolet" comes from the latin names of these mushrooms (Boletus appendiculatus, Boletus edulis etc.). It's a generic name. Those who are the most valued are also named "cepes".

Hey Buddy, nice inspiration, thank you for the video. I would dry the mushrooms not over 107,6 Fahrenheit. 😊 Better for the taste, you heated them anyway and porcini are raw edible. Greetings from Germany
I'm deff going to try this with next week's bounty, with seasonings on hand and tenderizing the shrooms prior to get that fiberey meat texture. Looks 🔥 man!
The heads would be wonderful to stuff for appetizers. Cut the center out and mix with sausage, spinach, or something and cheese. Woo! Great video. I want to get into mushrooms. But am afraid of poisoning myself. I love mushrooms just want to be safe. How did you get to know what is a good mushroom?.
king bolete in august we geting them in Ireland.. one of the best eating mushroom in Europe try to cook whole head on butter some salt and black pepper thats it.. realy nice you can cut them and dry them for later add to soup or sauce ..
Thought those were them magic ones at first 🤣. Side note find some lions mane! I've gotten into mushroom IDs myself this past year due to seeing tons of species of shrooms during my working hours outdoors here in TX
nice, dude. when you're in Santa Barbara again look me up. I still have avos and pink lemonade lemons and arugula for you any time you want to drop by. There's also a nursery right here (la sumida) that has a grip of organic seeds, and I have my own collection. It's all less than 2 minutes off the Patterson exit off the 101, within 6 minutes of goleta beach/pier, so if you're in the area lemme know and we can do a quick hand-off, or go fishing (I have 2 surf kayaks and there's the pier). I do have a safe driveway with charging too if you ever need that. A lot of people avoid this area because of the "no overnight sleeping in a vehicle" laws but it's mellowed some, and you wouldn't need to worry about that in my driveway. I'm still waiting for that seaweed salad with the fresh "sea lettuce" (Ulva) if you can find it in a clean spot! Happy hunting! oh btw way "mushroom HUNTING" is the term, to differ from tripping... heh. My godfather was a hunter, and one of his best friends is my old bio teacher from city college, who now runs tours sometimes (after rain), foremost authority in mitochondrial science in at least this area, so if you want to link up with him I can reach out but that will take time and RAIN. peace, see you tuesday.
Hey Taku, when you pick up a mushroom, always have a knife with you and cut off the roots at the bottom, scattering them on the ground. That way many others will grow! Hello from Northern Italy!
@@ainteasya XD. I don't intend for it to be mean, though it may seem a bit course. Cut or pull doesn't matter. Cutting only is an old myth that's been dispelled.
Taku, can you re-use those vacuum bags? It seems like a LOT of plastic for a few mushrooms as a snack. Love the idea/recipe, going to definitely try it!
You need to check Poland and our ways of picking and eating/preserving mushrooms it’s a traditional and still big thing there I’m living in Manchester from a while but found some nice mushrooms here but can’t compare it to Poland and found at least 10x more in the same time there and by the way the other mushroom you’ve found and left next to toadstool 🍄 is very good too better pickled or dried though 😉
I've tried to go foraging here in the pnw a few times with not much luck. I'm thinking that the places that I've gone to have not enough coniferous trees. It seems like in the videos that I've seen from you and NWFS, there are often a lot of pine needles or similar covering the forest floor.
I definitely got excited when Taku started talking about his mushroom trip 🤣
I was in stitches!
🤣

forages $100 in mushrooms - cooks and dries them - AND goes fishing - all in a single day. this brother has it made
🍄🐟🔥🤙🏽
He says while cleaning the mushrooms that he wishes he'd done it yesterday, implying this was not a single day ordeal.
you mean uploads the whole ordeal in one video lol cause i don’t think that all takes a day to do. at least two

Great stuff Taku. I use Porcini in my pasta sauce, which I make for myself & others! It really makes the sauce super tasty!
I liked the build-up and commentary style change in this video. It was a nice little change from the usual style of editing.

In France, we call these mushrooms "bollet". It's delicious just cooked with salt, pepper, butter and garlic on a frying pan.
Bolete mushrooms are different. That's the first one he showed us. Next to the red aminita.
