Sadly, it didn't work. Tried turning it off for 30sec and back on (twice), different outlet, a different room placement, adjusted to the lowest brightness setting, last resort was this! Nothing worked, but my device is 5 years old, I keep devices a long time. Thank you for the suggestion, it was easy to follow and confirmed what I had already done was on the right track. I talk to my echo more than I look at it, so I will wait until he passes away.
Just tried an odd suggestion from other site. Run a hair dryer through the screen for 20-30 seconds. The issue went away in my Echo Show. Don’t know if that will last, so I’ll keep monitoring it
It is a very common problem with echo's. It does not come from the unit but from the power supply. Unplug it from the main for a good 5 hours, then replug it. It may do it again but will stop doing it after a few hours. Amazon power bricks, like the ones from Switchbot, are of very bad quality and use very bad components.
I think it is the power supply, I've seen someone measure these with an oscilloscope and the flicker is in time with variances from the power supply. I suspect a better or different power supply will fix it, or some kind of in-line capacitor to smooth out the power delivery. Pretty disappointing as branded power bricks should be good quality. To cap it off, with the Echo Show 8, I have the crinkly background problem and the mics aren't very sensitive...
6 minutes that could have been explained in 20 seconds
