There are so many undocumented immigrants who've stayed in America since their childhood and speak fluent English but don't hold any legal document to stay in America. Evelyn got her US citizenship easier compared to other immigrants bc she was a refugee status from North Korea, still she had to stay in America for more than 5 years without seeing her family for a long time just to get her US citizenship. You cannot just say it's pretty much given.
