Almost never go to movies but somehow I went to see this one. Good mistake: I loved every bit of it! This is the Whitney we must remember!

I remember watching this movie on an army base before going to a nasty place in the summer of '93. Funny how movies, songs, smells etc take you back to a place and a time in an instant.

Kevin is almost a decade older than Whitney. She was 28/29 , he was 38 when they did that film
People always refer to Whitney's life as tragic BUT that's a very negative way to think about it...the woman had MAJOR success for a long time, was adored by billions, was super rich, was super loved by family, was wanted left right and centre, came from wonderful gospel routes, made so many people happy, changed the world of music and lifted people's spirits in every way possible..add all that up and that = VERY POSITIVE life. Life comes with pros and cons. We live, we make it what it is (which Whitney did in the most amazing way) and then we die. Some people die tragically and too young, others die in their sleep at 100 years old. Such is life. Think of all Whitney achieved and gave to the world and you will not even consider the negative parts of her life.

All of that is true, but it’s sad that despite all that in the end the people she needed most abandoned her. Her Mother a strict dogmatic Christian, her Father sued her….her best friend got ousted from her entourage and she split with Bobby. I adore Whitney she did truly give the world a gift and it’s as beautiful as ever ❤️
So so true. She lived a full life before she died. It just happened to be all over tv. Most of us have our own addictions with little to no talent and will die feeling all that, but there Whitney was, done and dusted of the celebrity life.
Whitney and Kevin Costner was two great Stars in the movie THE BODY GUARD. They had great Chemistry in that movie.

her voice had everything to do w her own legacy.
He didn’t pick Whitney the producers picked her. And he didn’t pick I will always love you he suggested it, Whitney picked it. Which wouldn’t have happened if the original song chosen ‘what becomes of the broken hearted’ hadn’t simultaneously been picked for another movie released at that time. He plays a part in her legacy however Whitney’s legacy was already set as she was already a bonafide record breaking and setting A-lister by the time the bodyguard came out.

Stop it. That man suggested one damn song. Whitney was a bonafide superstar and legend before she did that movie and she was successful after so don't credit him for her legendary status.
l saw the unedited version of the love scenes from the bodyguard, he and Whitney did....they was hot!...if they would have kept them in the movie....it would have been perfect.....That was a great movie... but the love scenes was definitely lacking in the movie....Kevin was disappointed in it too.... because he is always saying , he kissed Whitney once for us and , he kissed once for him...the version they cut of the movie is the one once for him, and the one we saw on screen was, once for....He wanted us to know, he really kiss Whitney for real for him...

MA RY They posted it on a RUclips link once...and it was flagged....it was too intense .... even when she slapped him in the movie... they both was emotional...and it showed too much.....The bed scene.when she was naked ..a shadow of her nude scene was a body double, but the roll in the hay bed scene was all Whitney....they showed a lot of raw emotions in them cut scene... Whitney showed just as much of her emotions just like Kevin did... Whitney was feeling him too....we knew he was all in....

They were already divorced for five years. Granted he played a part of her downfall(he mainly played a part in his own downfall too ), but she played part in her and his downfall too. Honestly I wish she had better people around during that time, instead of leeching yes people who only cared for money.

I wonder if it had something to do with Whitney's husband at the time maybe she was nervous about Bobby seeing those kind of scenes. Why I feel that he could have saved her in real life too if they only ended up together. It’s clear he loved her. I think he was heaven sent to save her but for whatever reason she didn’t recognize that then and everything went downhill for her after that movie was released when it comes to her personal life with Bobby
Kevin Costner was married to his first wife when they did the bodyguard and Whitney was engaged to Bobby Brown. It was impossible to stay together. But I recognized that they did have a strong feeling for each other but sadly both were in relationships!
You're right. Very obvious kevin+Whitney loved each other. I always thought her interactions with BB were forced , I never got the vibe of love for her and Bobby brown, never. Her true love was Kevin, but I think she realized that too late😢❤
Prior to Whitney doing the Bodyguard. People like Al shapton used to call Whitney as not being black enough. Which then made her to be so self conscious and then she got Bobby B🙄. Had it been up to her without caring what people thought, she would have been with a white man at some point.
I think it was not up to her it was up to the studio and kevin cause costner was a producer for the movie as well. But since people already was saying they were too touchy touchy with each other during filming and off the set. I guess they were being cautious
Yup! As the executives wanted white woman but Kevin insisted on having Whitney. Come to find out they got on well more than they expected. If us the public could see through the movie that their chemistry was more than they showed. Then I can only imagine how intense the love scenes were.

+76chicgirl Not sure of your age, but for anyone younger who is wondering the same thing. The movie was released in 1992 & this was a mainstream release. The early 90s were just starting to be more progressive, but there still was a large stigma left over from the 80s. Simply put adding too many steamy loves scenes could of hurt the movie's rating & even if the movie still received an R rating, if reviews of the movie came out it was too racy that also would of hurt the box office #s in 1992.
