My fav art is of John William Waterhouse. The magic circle, the lady of shalot and the crystal ball are all on my gallery wall. I think sir Waterhouse was a witch himself!
I love your Salem witch look. I'm a fan of a lot of witch fashion approaches, from the classic goth/Morticia style to the hippie-nerd Buffy witches to the mori kei-inspired forest witches I gravitate more towards these days.
Cool video, I love seeing all the looks. I love the American horror story versions because of their hat tip to what's considered original. I grew up on the whimsical and sexy witches I think; teen witch, witches of Eastwick, the butchers wife (actually not sure she was a witch but has powers), charmed, practical magic.
there's this scottish godess of fairies witchcraft and Halloween called Nicnevin who uses a lot of thread and cloth in her magic might have something to do with it
this is so interesting!! I think that we are all fascinated by the whimsical and mystical to a degree, witches really encapsulate that.. Fashion history is also such a cool thing to delve into, love this video!! 💙🧹🧙♀️
I love the fact that people never know I'm a witch but then tell me I give off a give a witchy vibe, I am still hoping that people will understand us and be accepted but If not it doesn't matter anymore 🌜🖤 this is a great video!!! 🍁🌾🍂🌜🖤 bravo and I hope everyone has a blessed Halloween 🎃 I'll be wearing my pointy hat 💚
This was so interesting and super well done! Im so glad it was randomly recommended for me. Also your voice is so incredibly soothing, definitely going to check out your other videos too!
this is such a great find; your channel, editing-style, clarity, accessible-caption[s] & overall content is amazing!!!! you are so clear & direct -- lovlove i'm definitely subscribedddd
I was a teen in the 00s and I never could completely relate to goth fashion. I loved black clothing and the whole aesthetic, but there was something off to me. I loved wood and more… hippie looking clothing, but goth. It’s so cool to see that the style that I had is becoming trending! I’ve always been out of fashion, and I’m sure I will be once again this trend fades out, but now is my time!
For some reason, I've always associated vintage witch costumes with the 1920s (like a Jazz Age witch). Now seeing the '20s Halloween costumes, it makes sense! The Salem/Puritan witch look is the spookiest considering the bloody history involved. Love your video:)
hi! i'm so late to this video, but do you mind linking the articles you mention around minute 4 if you still have them around?? i can't find them myself (I'm a fashion student planning to make a collection surrounding this concept and want to read everything I can lol)
Thank you so much for watching! If you liked it I also have a vampire fashion history video I made last Halloween! 🩸🎃
you are so interesting to watch!

Thanks for the info. May I ask if you have any history on the witches' shoes and why they curl at the tips-Thanks!
It's not cool in my family but universally yes, a lot more acceptable.
