#Kia #Seltos - Авто/Мото
Great review Tommy, I remember when you first started and you seemed so awkward. But I have to say, you are so polished now. I have total respect for what you do. Seltos looks like a great all-around vehicle. I just wish it had tow hooks, a trailer package and more of an off-road tire. Cheers!
I’m just got one of these as a rental. Far better than the Rav 4 I had a couple weeks ago.
Much better looking to then the RAV4
I'm so happy that Kia is allowing you to buy a higher trim without forcing a sunroof on you.
I live In Korea and bought a Seltos last year! Interesting to see some big differences for the North American markets. Ours came with a dial for gear shifts and also my model came with paddle shifts. Another big difference is we have 360 cameras and blind spot cameras. Heated and ventilated front seats. Exterior wise the front bottom bumper is a more square design and missing the orange reflectors on the side as well! Has been a great car so far!
I just traded my '23 EX Seltos for a '24 SX Turbo . Valais Green is the color & love it!
And I say there is a noticeable difference between the EX & SX in a '23 & the '24 model years. The grill area for sure & the rear & the side moldings on the doors. 😊
Just traded in our 2017 Kia Soul for a 2024 Seltos S. We love it. So many extras and the ride is so quiet and smooth. Only complaint is the speaker system in all of them should be 8 not 6. We are going to add another 2 to ours. Plouton Blue is our color. So many compliments and inquaries about it.
Other new colour is Valais Green. It’s interesting… basically the exact colour of an olive! We were considering waiting on this Pluton Blue colour or something less “different”, but the dealer has a Valais Green Ex Premium coming in so we decided to go for it. At least it will be easy to find in the parking lot!!! 😂
The one BIG problem on the SX model is that they force the stiff-riding 18" wheels and 45 series tires on you...there is no way around it. The EX, with 17" wheels and 55-series tires, rides noticeably better over bumps and irregularities. Why can't the SX come standard with the LX wheels and just make the stiffer-riding 45s an option? Some buyers like the SX's features, but prefer a softer ride and more comfort. The turbo engine in the SX also makes more noise at lower RPM than the EX's normally aspirated four.
Hey TFL, where did you find a view blocker privacy cover for rear cargo area? I'm unable to find this anywhere
I have this with the sunroof! !! Love it❤
I’ve had my Seltos S for about four months now. The IVT(CVT) and 2.0 work well together. Loving it so far.
Was that a Speaker in back?!?
U guys should do more info about the radio system n speakers sound cause most people I know are about it n like better sound quality.
what about suspension? Is hard as Honda or soft like USA cars??? It's front wheel drive ??
Do a Hybrid Kia. I ended up with a Hybrid Sportage, which I love very very much, but the Seltos was definitely on my radar. This refresh looks great. Boost for the turbo and new transmission is very nice, but I'd love a hybrid option.
I feel bad for you that you bought junk
@@bobdylan6773 Dont feel bad bob, eat something and you'll be less cranky.
A year or so ago, I was about to buy a turbo black edition or whatever it was for $27k. Until I heard about the DCT. Finally they’re putting a traditional automatic. Yes I do need turbo and AWD due the hilly mountain state I live in. If I lived down south where it doesn’t snow and/or it’s flat. I’m good with FWD. 😅
Does kia DCT has any problems ?
My biggest concern is, how good is it in the snow? I live in northern Wisconsin. I am driving a jeep right now, but it is 18 years old, and it’s in need of several costly repairs.
Hey, I live in R.I.! lol. Very affordable starting price wow. Cool design.
I’d bet the 1 to 3 mpg drop has more to do with the bigger turbo and +20 hp then with the switch to an automatic with more gears that can more easily maintain the ideal RPM zone…
That’s a lot of power from a small engine. I’m guessing mpg drops dramatically if you actually use it. Also, I wonder about long term reliability with that kind of performance tune.
Drove one and it was amazing!!! It will be my next car in a year!!
when you drive with full open window air hit your ear deflected from roof support post?? I have Honda Civic coupe and you can drive on highway with open window and air will not blow into yours ear....
I'm curious about how good those Bose speakers sound.
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYBODY ✌️ HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD DAY...
You too my friend...😊👍
Climate and radio controls operate independently thankfully they didn’t carry the bad system from the Niro ,but as Tommy knows in the Denver area Kia and Hyundai product’s have a habit of disappearing without their owner’s permission
Cost is similar or less than the competition. The Subaru and Bronco Sport have better clearance but a Bronco Sport with these features is thousands more. A great walk around video, thank you. 🤞🏻 The new automatic is the fix that was needed.
Except this is junk
@@bobdylan6773 I had a 2018 Kia Sportage for five years, no problems and the fit and finish was like new when I traded it in. I’m guessing this might be even better with the new transmission.
@@bobdylan6773 have you sat in or driven the 24my?
@@ATH_Berkshire of course he hasn't. He just writes 'kia is junk' wherever he can. 😂
@@bobdylan6773 JEALOUS? Yup.
does this have the fatal GDI engine?
This channel has become a giant add for every big car manufacturer. The reviews don’t seem real.
They got rid of the Turbo in the Kia Soul and put it in this car. Not a bad decision.
Kia FLEW you out to review this vehicle? Another unbiased review by TFL. Honestly I'm getting tired of car reviewers who have a difficult time getting their mouth off of the manufacturers tail pipe.
This is one of the best-looking CUVs in the segment. That Pluton Blue is gorgeous and distinctive. The interior looks like it came out of a small luxury CUV. I'm disappointed that the MSRP has jumped up about $2,000 though. That's crazy and a very poor move on Kia's part. It's no longer one of the best values in the class. That award goes to the new 2024 Chevy Trax and the upcoming Buick Envista, which are both cheaper than the Seltos. I really like Hyundai/Kia vehicles, but after my experience with many problems on a 2006.5 Kia Optima and a 2018 Hyundai Elantra at very low miles, I'm leery about buying another one of their vehicles. They're good at making flashy, well-equipped cars, but the reliability is a big gamble. Cars are too expensive for me to be a gambling man. Especially in this case because the Seltos has been having major reliability problems, such as the engines seizing by 20k miles and electrical gremlins.
and how much hp is in that Trax? 137hp! No thanks.
@@carldrach The Seltos 2.0L has a mere 9hp more and a lot less torque.
The Chevy Trax and Buick Envista may work out to be slightly more affordable, but I can guarantee they will be far less enjoyable than the Seltos. FWIW: I have leased a Seltos SX for 3 years now with no issues and have 1 year left. I belong to a Seltos forum and everyone has had really good luck and loves their Seltos. I am sure the occasional horror show has occurred that I am not aware of first hand, but that is an unfortunate gamble we take with any vehicle. Recalls are to be expected across the board for all manufacturers. The Bronco Sport is about the worst right now yet is infinitely popular.
Some people just suck at taking care of vehicles regardless. Wouldn’t surprise me if most of these immigrants piss in their gas tanks thinking it can be used as fuel. Then they show up at their KIA dealer wondering what went wrong. We all know this happens.
The new Trax doesn't have awd
@@davidmengle8269 the $26k Seltos "S" doesn't have AWD either.
I keep seeing reports on the news about engine problems and theft of Kias???? I was interested in buying a Kia but I am perplexed Now??
I like it.
I'm surprised at the lack of some of the amenities in this thing... I have a 22 SX Turbo Seltos and the passenger seat is power adjustable (no lumbar), both front seats are cooled, HUD, and a few other bells and whistles this 'refresh' lacks other than the new digital dashboard. These were all standard to boot.
Kinda underwhelming.
Are in you Canada? For some reason the Canadian version has more features.
@@cola6309 Yes I am, it's not surprising either as the American version of the same car often gets some options we don't get either.
We also get raked over the coals for vehicle pricing as well. I understand that some of the cost is logistics, but you can't tell me that $10,000 of that price difference (after currency conversion) is due to 'market forces' malarkey either.
Now that is an excellent review, briskly paced ,efficient, information focused, and mostly void of personal opinions. For many this content would have taken 35 minutes or more filled with unnecessary and uninteresting anecdotes and personal opinions. 10 minutes for 35 minutes of info…I’ll make that trade every time.
No hybrid option?
How about we resolve this energy crisis and climate change hoax and just get back to fossil fuels at affordable prices.
I love it
Seltos is a mid sub compact whereas the Kona is a true sub compact. Seltos has much more cargo room than the Kona. 62.8 to 45.8. Other specs are similar.
The Kona is a joke.
watch out for the KIA BOYZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!
That is only for key started Kia's. Anything with an immobilizer/push button start isn't affected - which means most everything new Kia make.
I purchased my Kia Seltos 2024 in Pluton Blue, May 2nd. I love this vehicle. I hardly had time to drive it though, so I haven't even figured out how to open the trunk from inside.
Many would find many things to criticize about this vehicle, but I LOVE it. One thing that freaked me out a little in the beginning, is the fact that it takes over for you and "drives itself", LOL, if you try to change the lane without signaling. It literally pulls the wheel to keep you in the lane you are, rather than moving over.
Also, don't try driving "hands free" for any reason. Again, a funny one; you'll see an image of the wheel on board, with two hands on it. I almost barks at you; hey dude, hands on the wheel. Sometimes I start talking back questioning it who's driving, me or it's driving itself? Overall, great; smooth, comfortable, and eager to go when you barely pinch the gas.
TFLNow? What was that? PASTEL color? Excuse me, sir; it's called Pluton Blue and the color is as interesting and attractive as the name. It's an awesome compromise when you don't want a dark color, but white is too boring. I would not change it for any color. 😀 I'm a happy customer. Now, where's the automatic trunk opener, if you please. 😇
No hybrid or wireless android auto apple car play! Not fully LED. Make it happen KIA
Angel tommy yay
and what about it's oil consumption? Kia has very specific oil consumption tests and considers one quart of oil used in 1,000 miles or more normal. Kia's and Hyundai's, from what I've read, have always had high oil consumption issues. They say it's normal. I'm not so sure.
1 quart every 1,000 is ludicrous. But many vehicles have the oil consumption problem. Google will tell you. Definitely had it in my Subaru Forester. They had to replace the short block on transmission under a special warranty due to this issue affecting Subarus.
My 2021 SX turbo doesn’t have any oil issues. No issues period and has been a tremendously solid vehicle for 3 years now. No regrets. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to do an early trade for a 2023 Wolf Gray Sportage though 😀
Because I definitely do.
2018 Hyundai Elantra 1.6t.
101001 miles. No oil
Consumption. 5k miles oil intervals.
The Kia Mentos
I love the Seltos, well, except for a few things . . . tell me what they did, Tommy . . .
Looks like they got rid of the faux-exhaust points on the rear . . . good.
No DCT? Excellent . . . the concept intrigues me, but Kia had never managed tp work out the bugs.
kia DCT has problems which i may not know of 😮
shenanigans?
What's the tyre size?
A 1.6 LT getting gas mileage more closer to a V8 and less than a V6, is not progress. My 2006 Honda Accord would best this, both in speed and HP, with about the same gas mileage. Assuming this car can do better than the sticker gas mileage, it might be somewhere around my Accord V6 mileage on the freeway. No turbo required ;) The new cars seem to have nanny systems for braking and beeping when they think you did something wrong. I assume that this comes on, even if you turn it off -- back on again, like pain in the ....
2024 not 2023
This thing isn't anywhere close to being the same class, type vehicle as a Ford Bronco.🤨
he said bronco Sport (made in mexico btw), not the big classic 4x4 bronco made in Michigan
@@kevinwiedow1739 I can see that Kevin. It's not the same class, type vehichle as the new Ford Bronco either. It's not a bad looking vehicle, but it's a compact SUV, not any sort of Jeep, Bronco, off road capable vehicle.
Transmissions on this things are horrible.
The base car still has a cvt which is a reliability nightmare
@@joetz1 Agree.
Horrible fuel economy with the only decent engine -- the 1,6L turbo.
You never want a car with turbo. Its just going to cost you alot more to fix it.
Dont trust the engine on kia
I’d get the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek over the Kia Seltos!
Based on reliability/reputation….possibly. However, the Crosstrek is an exceedingly boring toy vehicle that never gets a second look. In addition to that, Subaru drivers are known to be the worst drivers and get in the most accidents. Typically, liberals own Subarus.
Expensive, for a Kia, right?
Ungodly so.
Not really. Other comparable cars still cost a good bit of change more and offer much less. Bear in mind this is also more comparable to a compact SUV than subcompact in terms of space and actually has more passenger room than a RAV-4. Aside from that, try taking this out for a spin and price it out, then take a Ford Escape out and price that out. Then be prepared to change your underwear.
A common comparison is the Mazda CX-30 which is smaller but also costs more. The real fun thing there is that you can’t even get into the back seat. If you do somehow make your way in, there is definitely no chance of getting out unless you are a small toddler.
way too much useless styling chatter, as is usual for most utube car reviews.
A Kia Seltos has fog lamps, but Andre's 40k+ Chevy doesn't, and can you believe it Chevrolet, it has cruise control. Base model has AWD, this is why manufacturer's are like goofballs in Congress, they preach how much, yet Kia, who's been taking market share for the last decade away from the big 3, is saying, we can do in an affordable package, but yet, it's still overpriced.
I like my 2024 Seltos but i don't like the burst of acceleration when using the AC which is intermittent 🫣
