The only thing that i would have done with those manhole covers would have been to join them, power coat them, put glass on top,a fabulous wooden base and large metal wheels. What a coffee table. Jusf wowww. What he did with them them was beyond horrendous.

The item that Sarah and the young man didn't know what it was is called a gentleman's valet, shoes were on the bottom the suit was hung over the coat-hanger section, the tie and hat would be placed on the oval piece, what a find.

My elderly English Dad still has his. All my life it stood in his bedroom. Everyday when Dad came home from the office, he hung up his suit on it.

My grandpa had one similar, with a wooden tray for keys and cuff-links. It was so Nanny could put his clothes out for him early, before she went to work.

I actually cried out when I saw perfectly good dishware and cannisters just being smashed in that dumpster....just because their owner didnt want them. Im sure someone just setting up housekeeping could have used them. Especially since money is tight today.

There should be a charity shop at each of these dumps, where you could donate all the things, that could still be of use! Its actually insane to just throw out perfectly nice things, like that 😑

I agree, at least let ppl have the chance to grab things before they get crushed. Maybe, as the cars bring stuff to the recycle centre, let ppl have the chance to save them before entering the centre.

Charity shops have limited space and they only take on items that are instantly usable without doing anything to them.

Where I'm from, people leave such things on the curb for garbage pickup. Once at the curb, the things legally belong to the town. The town's garbage collectors take the things away; the department sells them, and uses the money raised to fund the garbage collection service, which lowers our municipal taxes.

I liked the purple and green (but the green should have been gloss) but not that nasty white strip on the backs. That ruined it. There was nothing high-end classy about it at all.

I'd use the metal covers to make an awesome planter. I'd put it in my yard , by adding wood in the just a frame one, dont need a bottom, roots need space 😁 I also would have just cleaned the chairs, leaving them as they were. The suit stand was in gorgeous condition, Glad she let it be what it is .They should just paint the mirror gaps in the same color as the top.

The best recycling plant that i saw was in East Hampton, NY. All large items were put under a large roof instead of a skip. The area was always empty and clean, because just as soon as someone put something there, someone else would collect it. Quite frankly to throw such lovely items in a skip is heartbreaking and wasteful.

The light green paint on the chairs didn't work imo. All they needed was to be recovered top and bottom in a nice 50s print like Hawaiian pink flowers with green foliage in a heavy upholstery material.

Great show! There’s so much creativity involved & this craft people are extremely talented & skilled!! ❓I wonder why people can’t just offer up their old chairs, because someone can always use them, after a good clean, restoring them or transforming them into something different?
❓How is it possible that there isn’t a RECYCLING SECTION at this dump lot? Or an Artist supply lot for Art Students & Professional Artist to access & use??

But a bright, fire engine red leather would have been stunning! And gone with the wood frames nicely!

Nowhere in the Western world are you going to find someone to powder coat steel slabs for 100 quid. 50 pounds to completely restore 2 chairs is absurd. More like 500.

    • @edelweiss9460
      @edelweiss9460 7 месяцев назад +3

@@edelweiss9460 Even 10 yrs. ago. I had a single chair reupholstered and it cost me $200 and I provided the fabric. More than 10 yrs ago. Lol. True about the buyers. Those things are horrendous. They should have just made them garden tables and painted them green. Would look cool.

I Agee that it’s about showing the value of what the person was about to trash it’s an important component if it wasn’t a show she would profit that but it’s a full circle to make more people understand that you shouldn’t throw away something that another person could use or profit from, great concept! ❤

You can tell she's not from the USA. YOU go and tell people someone was going to put the suit rack in the trash trash. And then want to sell it you just made that person think it's worthless so they don't want to give you anything for it. It's obvious in good shape. You don't need to tell them it was going in the trash. Not good when you want to sell something.

I kind of feel like the people that whine about "such great items going into the trash" MUST be hoarders. If you aren't going to USE, makeover, have tried to sell, and have been unable to...what the hell ELSE are your options? Disclaimer...this is an OLD Show. They may have other avenues in which to post freebies on the sidewalk at this juncture. In California, USA, I can post freebies or "for sale" locally, and they're gone IMMEDIATLY. 2024

Happy to see Sarah didn't go to Becks and David for this manhole project but she still managed to get a sky high price for the project. Jay as usual disappoints using ugly colors on classic furniture. He ruined them really. And why didn't Sarah advertise the suit stand online? Anyone would have paid double what she got. Sorry, not the best transformations I've seen in this program.
