I've never heard of quebradita before. Had no idea what I'd be seeing when I clicked on the video, so I reacted right along with y'all. Lots of "Wow!" "Ooh!" and "Woah!" Pretty cool stuff. Thanks for broadening my horizons! :)
THAT IS MY DANCE GOAL TO KNOW HOW TO DANCE THIS STYLE OF MUSIC I GREW UP AROUND MY MEXICAN FRIENDS WATCHING THERE FAMILY DANCING THIS LOOKED LIKE SO MUCH FUN ???
@@Jo-zz9nu THANKS LOL I'M FROM "BOLIVIA ~ SOUTH AMERICA 💚💛❤" BUT I GREW UP WITH 8O% OF MY FRIENDS ARE MEXICAN IN CALIFORNIA IN THE 9O'S THIS WAS THE MUSIC BEENING PLAY AT THE WEDDINGS, LOS 15 AÑO, BAPTISM ETC........ THEY SURE WERE HAVING FUN WE HAVE NOTHING LIKE THIS EXTREME BACK IN MY MOTHER LAND BACK HOME ONE DAY I WILL KNOW HOW TO DANCE LIKE THIS LOL
Well, I was going to go do some housework but after watching this video, I think I will get a cup of tea and sit on the couch for a bit. My goodness, the energy these dancers expend is outrageous. I've never seen this dance before nor have I ever seen your cousin so thanks for the intro to both, Jamel. Hello, Jamel's cousin! Take care and be well. Peace.
Quebraditas ain't a thing anymore like it used to be in the 90s. In the 90s it was a THING, HUGE THING. People still dance it, but it's rare. Banda & Corridos is a current thing in the Mexican community now.
Literal translation is little break which refers to breaking horses. It's wild and unscripted just like a pony ride. Dont get thrown off! Usually a mambo it's a lot like the Jitterbug from back in the day in America.
Reminds me of the "toss dance" mentioned in the Pern saga of books by Anne McCaffrey. Before this I watched your reaction to Ode to Billy Joe - if you like that style, give a listen to Rose in Paradise by Waylon Jennings.

Looks like this form of dancing has roots from the 1930's - 1940's Swing Era.
You'd think. But not quite.
It started in the ranchito areas {country sides}. Not much TV, evrn less, an enjoyment to swing music.
@@led.zepper not really started in Guadalajara Jalisco
