On a side note, It’s super interesting for me seeing the pushback phase from a flight deck perspective. Great video, once again. Some curiosity such as the different occasions in which vectors were given for separation with other traffic, interesting. I also liked knowing the procedures for forecasting fuel and weights for arrival, I imagine it is a common procedure but not for those of us who are not pilots. Thank you very much for teaching us more about everything we need to do, not just pilot, for a plane to go from the starting point to its final destination.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  2 месяца назад

      Thank you very much for your good and very detailed feedback! It is great to hear that you enjoyed the content of the video!
      Sometimes, we are flying along the full arrival and approach path. Sometimes, we get shortcuts and at other times, ATC provides vectors for separation.
      We continuously monitor the fuel status of the airplane and use the estimated landing weight and the weather for the landing distance and go around performance calculation.
      Have a nice day!

    One question please. In this particular video you had 141 as Vr and 142 as V2 speeds. After liftoff the magenta managed speed bug still sits at 142 but FD gives guidance for V2+10 speed. Am I correct? The question is:
    what will happen to magenta managed speed bug if you engage autopilot at 400 ft? Will it jump to 152 or stay 142 until acceleration height? Thanks!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for watching, your good feedback and the question! The magenta speed bug would not change at all if the autopilot would be engaged. Engagement of the autopilot just means that the airplane follows on its own the command bars of the flight director.

      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  26 дней назад +1

      Good question! The pilot flying is not reading any checklists. This is all done by the pilot monitoring. Here, on the ground, the Captain is always taxiing the airplane. So, on the ground, he or she is always considered to be the pilot flying. That means that on the ground the First Officer is always reading the checklists.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  25 дней назад

      @@lucascaffese It is airline policy. Some airlines allow the First Officers to taxi the airplane, others not. This is always based on operational risk evaluations which are done by the airlines. You are right, the original Airbus FCOM allows the First Officers to taxi the airplane when they are pilot flying.

    Hello captain , great video as always ! I really appreciate the time and effort taken to produce such high quality full flights videos. and if you don't mind I have a couple of question that were brought to my mind watching the video.
    1-I noticed that you were flying on an odd flight level when your destination was to the west of Düsseldorf , is this normal or the rule of even and odd flight levels can change ?
    2- Is there a specific rule or guideline of when to engage the autopilot after take-off ?
    and again thank you very much for your great work !!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks a lot for your financial support of the channel as a member!
      The general rule says that flights from 0 to 179 degrees are done at an odd level and from 180 to 359 degrees on an even level. Some airways have different regulations which are published on the charts. Sometimes, we have to change the level enroute due to this regulation.
      The pilot flying decides when to switch on the autopilot after takeoff. Minimum engagement altitude is 100 feet on the radar altimeter and 5 seconds after takeoff.
      Have a nice remaining weekend!

      If you do not notice your color blindness, I suggest that you talk to an aviation aeromedical examiner. He or she knows the exact requirements and can help you.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I had the hand near the sidestick because the push to talk button for the radio is located at the sidestick. Also, this is the most relaxed position for the arm/hand during approach. And as pilot monitoring, I have to be able to take over immediately if needed when the pilot flying is flying manually. So it is a good idea for the pilot monitoring to have the hand during the approach at or near the sidestick.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  3 месяца назад +2

      Thank your very much for your financial support as a member of the channel!
      The ILS is identified if the correct identifier is displayed above the frequency. You can see both in the left lower corner of the PFD. Here the identifier is IPAL. Alternatively, we could listen to the morse code and find out if it transmits IPAL.
      In Palma de Mallorca, they prefer runway 24L for landing and use it often also with a few knots of tailwind. The runways are long enough to operate with a few knots of tailwind. This is not a problem for us. Switching the runway, especially during peak hours, is not a good idea. It may provide delays and is a complicated procedure because everything changes in the opposite direction. If the tailwind is becoming more than 10 knots, they have no choice and change the runway to the other direction.

    mir war allerdings die (zumindest nach meinem empfinden) ungewohnte häufigkeit von headings gerade im bereich in/um frankreich aufgefallen. ist das ein zufälliger einzelfall oder kommt das doch generell öfter so vor oder hat es doch sogar mit dem FRA zu tun der u.a. gerade in frankreich seit ner weile schon weiträumig existiert? especially the CFMs (and also some others like e.g. the good old RB211 if i'm not completely wrong) are well known for this. if you look carefully at the very top part of the fan, you can see how the blades fall a bit from one side to the other, because they are not mounted completely fixed, but with a little bit of slack instead, which causes those "ticks" or "clacks". but at higher revolutions, centrifugal forces will then lock the blades into their normal position.

      Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und die Frage! Das Autoflightsystem verfolgt als Ziel, die Geschwindigkeit von 290 Knoten zu fliegen. Der Schub steht konstant auf Climbthrust. Daraus resultiert eine variabele Vertikalgeschwindigkeit. Man kann hier ganz gut sehen, dass sich die Geschwindigkeit ein wenig ändert. Das passiert zum Beispiel durch Veränderungen des Windes oder andere atmosphärische Einflüsse. Um die Geschwindigkeit wieder auf den Zielwert von 290 Knoten zu bringen, ändert das Flugzeug dann die Pitch und damit die Vertikalgeschwindigkeit.
