I do love how you kind of discover the character you are going to play by going through a mostly randomised process, as opposed to coming to the table with particular character already in mind. Although allowing a swap of two attributes as you suggest Wes let's you shape the outcome a little :D
Fun video. Would like to see you do a few BFRPG Character creation vids. Maybe do one of each class. I know that might be a bit much as you seem to have you plate full with other games.
I would like to see it for sure. Be nice to see what you rule change from the RAW. I give max HP to start I also give Thieves D6 Hp. Look forward to your next video
You got it. Pretty much the only alt rules I use are for max HP at first level. And I have used the alt advancement table for a magic user’s first couple of levels. Thieves are get a d4 and LIKE IT. Or else.
Would love to try this system! I don't have a dog in the fight over roll, array, point buy but usually do point buy so it'd be fun to let the dice create a character for me!
So… there’s a reason why you get a + to certain saves, and not a reduction of the target number. One of those bonuses was for Spells, but the way you did it you got a bonus for Rods and Staves as well. That’s not correct. Do I think it actually makes a big difference? No. No I don’t.
I'm certain I've done this as well. But I'm guessing I've played a lot more AD&D 1e and 2e, and Swords & Wizardry, and Old School Essentials in the last (nearly) 43 years. Some of them start to bleed together at times, and I can't remember which game has a particular rule. The good news is they're so similar that it really doesn't make that much difference. And Basic Fantasy is set up so you can literally re-edit the whole book, and print out your very own version of the game... and yours could work exactly as you described in the video. :)
Fun video! I was hoping you were going to name the character! I wonder what he looks like? Also, I forget - does BFRPG use side initiative or individual initiative? I only ask because you entered his initiative score, so I'm assuming it's individual.

Yah, there’s a lot of flexibility, but randomness is still a key factor.

Oh, I think a video like this in between larger reviews would be a nice change of pace if folks want it!

Maybe we can set up a one shot sometime so you can try it.
That would be awesome!
OK, we’ll think of something.
I don't know why but I envisioned this character as someone with Hugh Grant-like charming befuddlement.
That would be fun! You can borrow him for a campaign if you want.
@@DMTalesTTRPG I may have to do that
I’ve got artwork (personal use only since I don’t have a publisher license). I’ll send you message!
@@DMTalesTTRPG Awesome, now I’ll just have to roll up a confident but clumsy Sandra Bullockesque halfling.
Yes!!!!
That’s a great name. Testing the tortle from tri borg.
Let me know how it turns out!
@@DMTalesTTRPG lol.

I was wondering about that as I was doing it.

It has for two years!!!

Thanks! It IS individual initiative. I’m dying to use B/X rules for combat, though.
