finally, my mistake pays off!
I was suckered in with the underwater expansion joke someone made for April fools day, so me, trying to read the writing on the wall invested heavily into the swim speed infusion. oops, Egg in my face, right? well, now my foolish investment pays off!

I did this for a while, but after doing the math I knew that the sun would burn out before I'd ever top out on this one. Now I just have hundreds of keys sitting in my bank. 🤣
Make sure to have view interactable items turned on guys! makes it a lot easier to see the chests.
This exponential infusion growth was pretty fine with agony, as you could distribute low infusions around your total slots and make it to 150 without thousands of gold. This however is not fine. We have 1 slot to use with the infusion (or two, correct if wrong), making getting past +15 a nightmare even if it is account wide progression.
150 agony is mandatory to do all the fractal content, this is literally just a tiny quality of life change that gives less movespeed than just giving yourself swiftness
Not to mention higher tier agony infusions drop somewhat regularly from fractals.

@@90Rush That is correct. However, if your boost is high enough it CAN actually overcome the in-combat speed debuff. (There are, however, alternate methods of achieving that without needing to spend thousands of gold. One example is Superspeed, which always sets your speed to 400 units, the absolute fastest you can go in-game under normal conditions, which is nearly double your base movement speed.) So say, if you had, say, a high enough Swim Speed infusion + the account boost, and then add Swiftness et al on top of that, supposedly you can get your speed to like 390-something, which is near Superspeed-levels of hustle even while you're within combat. It's impressive, although again, you do have to balance that against the insane cost plus the fact that it's, y'know, underwater so you won't be getting the benefit of a majority of the time. ;P
@@gromimomi8486 If it is unattainable, people will simply just skip it. This is by no means unattainable, but it's a super mundane thing to accomplish. I don't mind having grindy things to do, I think Legendaries are perfect for that, allowing players to spend thousands of hours on. This is not that, this should be scaled better to encourage people to actually put some effort into it. That is my opinion.
it is a good point to note that bc there is no Legendary Breather at current if you put the infusion on to a breather, it permanently on that 1 breather so if you have multiple armor set with rebreathers (like me) you would have to by multiple of the infusions for each build.
The math:
1 "+15" = 32 "+10"
1 "+20" = 1024 "+10"
1 "+25" = 32768 "+10"
1 "+30" = 1,048,576 "+10"
Price is the same for going up by +1 each time.
I was able to complete the "blood in the water" achievement twice last night (started with 2).
I was able to complete the "dive master" twice as well.
(also got the 50 veterans WV, since there were usually a bunch of veteran krait hanging around).
and with current prices, youre looking at over half a million gold for the +30. good luck to us non TP barons
To be fair the difference between 20 and 30% divespeed is barely noticable and there isnt much underwater content where you would want this anyways so its only a chase item for the super rich that are bored and dont know where to spend their money
The wild thing here is that before yesterday it was 1.05M +10s to give one character +30 swim speed.
Now it should be 1056 +10s to give one character +15 from the infusion AND +20 from the account boost.
@@masterdragon2345 The prices don't even matter, there aren't enough swim speed infusions stocked in the entire trading post for even one player to get the account-bound +30 if they bought out the entire stock.

I'm a little confused how it works. When you buy the account-bound infusion, can you just equip it to every character like you would a legendary, or do you need to buy one per character?
I'm guessing since the other upgrades are 'services' it affects any infusions you have either way. Which if you need one infusion per character, is where the savings come in, since you don't have to buy a +20 or +25 for each char, just multiple +15's. (And aquabreathers with infusion slots.)

That's exactly right, one +15 per character you want swimming faster, then one +20 to make all of those characters a little more faster, etc.
I finally finished farming these a few months ago over the past 10-years to get the Diver's skins (they are epic) and one charcter up to +17 and another to +16. Looking forward to converting this over to account bound.
I JUST did a month or two of daily diving for that sweet bubble aquagear and NOW I get to continue but now for gold!!🎉

Slightly confused on the infusion itself. When it says account wide, if I have characters without the infusion on they will get the benefits from the other toons that do on the same account? If so, the effects stack?
Does it work on water mounts or their speed stays the same?
Mounts aren't really affected by any movement speed changes. You can be immobilized on a raptor but still run at full speed.
I guess you would like to swim faster if you don’t have the skimmer mastery unlocked which makes you dive with it and swim underwater or you can’t use it?
I see no use for these infusions otherwise, am I missing something important in my thinking?
in fractals u cant mount so there is some niche use for this
Fractal for most part, its annoying underwater fractal...
From what I understand, the swim infusions increase your underwater combat speed.
Like..... outside of base game under water story instances and the Aquatic Ruins fractal, when do you need this? The "Skimming the Depths" mastery exists for a reason and takes 20 mins or so to unlock.

i cant be bothered with this tbh, just like i cant be bothered with acquiring rebreathers for all my characters, i was hoping maybe theyd just get rid of them but i think this makes it pretty clear its here to stay

You are looking at it wrong. Technically you could already do the same thing. You just had to do it individually for each character and get an ascended breather for each character.
So the same thing you could do before is easier now, but now that it is called account progression people also want it more :D
I am 99% sure this is a byproduct of them touching spear, giving some nice quality of life to aquabreather cause they saw they could easily do it cause they were touching the underwater systems anyways. I think that we now can hide aquabreathers and even override them with our helmet underwater is a direct consequence of them having to touch the system to make spear both a land and water weapon. That they even did this is a big bonus.
had 410 or so keys. took me 4 hours to open all of them but was able to get my +20 account wide upgrade
You know, I wasn't expecting these. But maybe they perfectly fit the [headcanon] navy-stealth Daredevil charr character I've had all this time. 😂
I didn't stack those keys, because I regulary use them to get those infusions and trade them for gold. It was already profitable, but now it's triple the price it used to be. :)
3:40 I was under the impression that you can't open the same chest twice a day. Meaning that you can do this achievement once a day max. But maybe Arena Net changed it?
They were always repeatable, you just had to open all the chests before they reset. You had to refresh the maps a couple of times after completing the achievement for the chests to respawn tho.

No changes, you could the achievement multiple times even before. Limiting factor was the keys, which you mostly get from blood in the water.
Once the Master Diver collection completes you can open them all again. So you can't just afk at one chest and keep opening it, but cycling through you can.

I worked on getting a higher level swim speed infusion for my main character long ago when they were first introduced, but yesterday I looked for it on that character and couldn’t find it. I’ll look through all 26 of my other characters today for it, as I want to get the account wide version. I also have about 65 of the keys, so I can open up a bunch of the chests. I hope that this is an indication that they are working on an aquatic expansion next, perhaps around the Isles of Janthir. The underwater combat in GW2 is the best in any MMORPG, but they haven’t updated it since the game was first released, so I’m hoping that they will give us something great for underwater gameplay in the future.
Edit: Did they say how the account wide infusion works? Do you just use it on one character and it applies to all, or is it a Legendary infusion?
You need to purchase an infusion for each aquabreather you want it to work with. The "account-wide" part is the upgrades to those infusions (+20,+25, and +30)
I guess second frostfang, second quip, maybe second bifrost, trident, speargun and then sigils 5-8.
After that I'm out of goals so I can do this stuff...
Honestly the amount required is insane. The droprate is too low.

Im kinda mad at myself cuz ive been deleting the key after finding out they were for some chest somewhere and i couldnt be bothered with that. Well now tobsave them and use them whenever i get around to even equip my alts with underwater weapons.

Ok, so basically, each character has to wear the account-wide version to benefit from the account-wide bonuses and upgrades? Then what difference does it make with regular ones if each character has to wear it? I mean, ignoring the bonuses? Also, you said that it will add existing swim bonus with account-wide version? How's that possible, I'm confused, if we have to infused the account-wide version which will replace the regular version?
The funniest thing about these things is that there's still a movement speed cap of +400 u/sec, or an additional +40% movement speed. Swiftness is +33%, so with Swiftness and a cheap +10 infusion you're already at the cap, making anything higher than a +10 pointless.
With this, the beachwear and the serpent theme stuff for the deluxe+, I‘m getting worried JW might secretly be underwater for half of it… Like, what do we need this for otherwise?
Can get starter easily, but second account buff is a little hard and the next buff after will cost about 16K g.
Does swim speed effect the speed of skimmer under water?
This seems kind of pointless since unlocking under water skimmer is way less gold, time and effort. i don't understand who this is for...
The math is 2^(n-1), where n is the number of levels you want to ascend your infusions.
I always tossed those keys taking up inventory space. "Swimspeed infusion? does anyone care about this? everyone hates being underwater... DELETE"

My dumb question now is, are they stackable? Are the account wide and personal infusions stackable?
You can only equip one swim inFusion and the 15 from the account infusion Stacks with the bonus you purchase for the entire account.

Ok cool. My main account has a guide for the chest locations. I have about 4K of the regular SS infusions just sitting on a toon. I thought someday they might make a Leggie Airbreather and they would be needed so I just held onto them. The Rainy Day has come!!! Thank you!!

For the +30% it's no joke almost half a million gold. Even using prices pre-patch it'd be a quarter of a million.
My skimmer is account wide speed boost under water, cool to have the speed boost swimming unless more water content incoming, just something to complete I suppose. Thanks for the Guide though, as usual very informative and short.
I opened over 920 chests since the system first came out. That was only enough +10s to make four +20s. I would have to open 232k more chests to make a +30.

Lol. So the +15 just needs 32x 10s, but the +20 (the next one) needs 32x 15s->32x32 10s=1,024x 10s. The last one (+30) needs 32^4=1,048,576x 10s if my math is correct. This is insane.
Why can't they just make it a Passive Account boost which doesn't need you to stuff another Infusion into the gear anyway? They already did this with Fractal account boosts, what makes this one so special that it has to be another infusion you need to buy for each character?

If they didn't change it you have to open the chest with a lvl 80 char, else you don't get an swim infusion from that chest

Its currently broken... Bought the Account 15+ and then the 20+ and the 20+ doesnt show up
My understanding is that the 15 is a physical thing you equip to one character only, and your other characters that also have swim infusion get a bonus. However, the 20 is a "service"... and currently, the hero panel (or gods forbid, the buff symbols), do not show swim speed. So, you cannot really discern your bonus.
@@imayb1 Maybe but it makes no sense to not tell you what your speed is and I should think it is supposed to show on the infusion. Its been reported in the forums so we'll see if there is an announcement about it
