This boat will be considerably better than any Halberg Rassy. HR's are too heavy, too fat, with rigs that are necessarily large because of the weight and beam. They are high drag high load boats - not ideal if you are shorthanded which is every cruising couple.

Now is the time to install Glass Reinforced Plastic tubes (GRP) with epoxy. That way the wire and plumbing holes can be sealed against water getting into the wood. One can even do this for the limber holes. The side can be cut off. Also if they are extra long, the fillets can be run right up to them and fiberglass over the top of them. Install a few extra tubes for changes and future alterations. @SailingMagicCarpet did this in their bowsprit for bolt holes.
@TheDuracellProject used GRP rods for stanchion bases. No hole bases.
