Halberg-Rassy sure are going to be very jealous of your professional master boat building skill and tenacity! So amazing to see perfectionists at work. My sincere admiration. And thank you for the videos. 👍👍👍
This boat will be considerably better than any Halberg Rassy. HR's are too heavy, too fat, with rigs that are necessarily large because of the weight and beam. They are high drag high load boats - not ideal if you are shorthanded which is every cruising couple.
I felt your anguish when you slid under that boat. Going somewhere you can't move is a very scary position to be in. Like being in a coffin. Especially where you can't even turn your head. Makes my skin crawl. LOL
I bet Johan is thrilled to have the barn filled with the scent of wood as he cuts and sands that Mahogany versus the fiberglass work he's been doing. It is really coming along well.
True responsibility at this critical point in the build. This keel will be max strong within a reasonable weight limit . Just imagine how many times stronger than an off the shelf beneteau . More like a Nautor Swan . Just beautiful to watch ,thanks for sharing.
@@keithhall9298 Maybe English is your language , nothing to do with timing , only the great care and true effort the builder is making for a safe and solid boat. Nothing silly ?
The Swedeliner is coming along nicely there guys. Looks like it will conquer the waves with joy and thanskgiving one day. Keep up the will and determination ... there's a lot of us viewers out here that are egging you on!
Call for VERA ,the smallest tool in your family , LOADS OF LAUGHS , and a photo to show her grand children .Amazing work and thanks for your video .😉❤👍👍
Johan you showed us that you are human with a mistake with #6. You make so few, I wondered if you ever would make a mistake. With your planning though you keep them to a minimum. You are an excellent craftsman. I wish you well as you move forward and very few mistakes. Thanks for sharing your videos on this epic build.
of all the great boat work, and thanks for the insight, I would also like to point out that the yard, flowers, and vegie garden are really looking good. Not only are you building an awesome boat, but at the same time turning the farm into a very beautiful place.
Respect for the work you do !! I have as well a lot of expercience in boatbuiling, woodworking and manny other, the quality you produce and the dedication is enourmous !! This comes not itselves but ask every sigle time dedication , courage and craftmanship !! Great to see and keep on going !!!!!!
My week goes like this Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, "RAN SAILING", Saturday, Sunday,Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday, "RAN SAILING". Well not really I did take a shower last tuesday. 😢 😅
Now is the time to install Glass Reinforced Plastic tubes (GRP) with epoxy. That way the wire and plumbing holes can be sealed against water getting into the wood. One can even do this for the limber holes. The side can be cut off. Also if they are extra long, the fillets can be run right up to them and fiberglass over the top of them. Install a few extra tubes for changes and future alterations. @SailingMagicCarpet did this in their bowsprit for bolt holes. @TheDuracellProject used GRP rods for stanchion bases. No hole bases.
I really enjoy your videos. The boat build is really interesting. Malin is doing an excellent very I quality job of editing the videos. The choice of the music works well too.
Another riveting episode on the professional craftsmanship side, plus the great views of the farm countryside and a great choice of tranquil music make for exquisite viewing. Bravo Zulu team Ran👌👌
...even craftsmanship that will never been seen you make so beautifully... I take my hat off to you Johan Greeting from an English armchair sailor in Gothenburg, Sweden
Johan you truly are a master woodworker, cabinet maker, boat builder and totally amaze us who able to draw a straight line without assistance. FWCS ⛵️ ⛵️
Hello all together! The weekend belongs to us! Enjoy it! „I think it turned out really good!“ You should put this quote on a merch T-Shirt. It will become a bestseller! Believe me.
Pretty sure Viking blood is running thick in Johans veins. Very impressed with your hard work and attention to detail. This boat is going to be so strong. I am hoping upon her completion, you guys find your way back to my waters. The inside passage of British Columbia. Specifically Vancouver island. Cheers you guys. 🍻
good to see your enthusiasm and joy has come back with this job. It shows how much all the glassing had worn you down, been tedious, and just getting "old". Looking forward to the next steps, it sure looks like you are enjoying the making of the keel grid. Make sure you leave a good amount in the bilge for all the caned goods 😇
Never ceases to be impressed by your boat build, know that it cannot be directly compared to rocket science But it is not far from it!!! Fantastic job and impressive patience👏👏👏😇
Johann, amazing mahogany floor timbers. I was hoping you were going to finish these off naturally, yet realize glassing will hold them in place. Seems like a waste of beautiful wood and know as you mentioned, you have more stock for interior build.
Nice to see you back shaping wood. Measure twice cut once is the rule but that 2D device is a whole new kind of measuring. Your audio matching the video skills are on point again Malin.
Johan, I think the 2d scanner needs to be permanently living with you, just think how may bulkheads you are going to need later on ;-) perhaps an in depth review in exchange for the demonstrator 😃unit you have there already ?
Fantastic work. Super impressed with your patience and work ethic. My ONLY complaint is I want the episodes to be longer! ❤ I can’t wait for each video coming out. Keep up the hard work! Thank you for allowing us to join your journey! Cheers from Tsawwassen BC Canada. Doug Sjoberg (I’m also Swedish my great grandparents immigrated to Canada in 1893).
DITTO, @Hukubob‼️👍🏻 Just blows me away at the thought needed going into this build. Of course the skill-set is above my pay grade. So excited to see the project unfold. 😊 See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🌞✨
Oh my goodness, well done Malin going under the hull like that, that was a tight fit. Must feel good getting back to woodworking again Johan. Great progression. Love the vlog :)
Just bend over the end 2mm of a piece of wire and push it through. Then twist to push the bent end towards the side of the hole and pull up until it catches. Mark the wire. Free the hook and pull the wire out. Measure from the hook to the mark. Or get an ultrasonic thickness gauge for something under $200.
The material choice for the keel grid came as a surprise to me. I think it will work just fine, but a little bit sad to bury nice mahogany in the bilge. But that keel is going nowhere!
Halberg-Rassy sure are going to be very jealous of your professional master boat building skill and tenacity! So amazing to see perfectionists at work. My sincere admiration. And thank you for the videos. 👍👍👍
It's amazing to watch the build

So true. Amazing production engineering going on here.
Well said. I totally agree!
@@deerfootnz the new HRs (40c and up) are fully motorised sails controlled from the helm. Even the 69 can be singled handed.
That keel grid will be fantastically strong.
Ha, hate to see that beautiful mahogany to be lost under the glass. So pretty.
My reaction also….absolute shame for it to be buried under glass. I would have chosen a less exotic hardwood or high quality marine plywood
Same here,a bit of a shame not to use this mahogany for the inside of your boat where you can see it. Fir would have been even stronger!
Ah well, your disappointment, his craftsmanship. @@Jackanory222
Our collective loss of tropical old growth.
He got a very good deal on the timber, not to be missed.
You are the most patient man I have ever seen! Respect too you!

The mahoghany keel frames are works of high beauty.

Excellent work and video again. Love watching this series. Can't wait to see the finished boat.
Poor dear Marlin stuck under the heavy boat = 100 hugs to you from all the world. And Johan has his fun with it. :)
Yes, Malin is braver than I would be to go into that tight space.
Such a beautiful montage ..that keel beam..You two are awesome
I could listen to Swedish all day, I like it.
Use a pillow with a stick put it tight under the hole, then measure.
Wow! Can't beleive I've been following this build for 2 years now. Feels like it's been shorter
It’s two years in November, that’s when we started making the temporary frames. 😊 Thanks for watching!
@@RANSailingAbout 2 years.😁
So assume your making a FIXED keel ?
Yes, it’ll be a fixed rather low aspect ratio keel. 😊 Cheers!

Wonderful to watch the detail you pay attention to. I love your content 👏👏👏👏🥸❤️
This is a significant step, exciting to see you get to this point in the build.
So satisfying when the finished piece is put in place ! That scanner system has paid for itself in tech assistance, hasn’t it?!
Another step closer!

Southern Sweden looks like central Europe to my Finnish eyes. Thanks for another vid.
Cental Europe is completely different to my western Europan view. But all very beautiful in their own way and not as grey as this concrete jungle.

great video, beam looks really nice in mahogany, the 2D scanner was great idea 😂 love the remarks at the start under the boat
Great work guys, on both the house and RAN lll. Lovely full moon last week wasn't it, glad you noticed it too.
I couldn’t visualize how you were going to use those thin pieces of mahogany to make the grid section. Amazing.
