12:39 Kyle: "everything in comfort-🫨😐, just to see how it does, 😮💨" My man's getting ragdolled by the car. On the highway. In comfort. I think it's safe to say, if the car is fast, doesn't loose class with a tight suspension.
LOVE this powertrain every single day, and the “tank” that can rip around like a small car, in my XM. Yesterday at the dealer with their first M5 “same powertrain but low seating position and softer car ride…” Beast. Wagon will be a waiting list car. I just can’t stand bits of the 5 series interior and much prefer my posher, bigger, sharper XM. The PHEV V8TT is so great, vs the V8TT by itself in my X5 before. Modes for me: M1 = Hybrid EV/gas, plus Max Regen, Sport Steering, Sport Brakes, and Comfort Ride M2 = Sport engine (gas, crackling exhaust), and then same Max Regen, Sport Steering, Sport Brakes, and Comfort Ride Drive in M2 98% of the time. Keep the PHEV part charged but have no easy access to charging at home, so only use M1 EV/hybrid when I need a quiet exit from somewhere (XM gas exhaust is LOUD vs the quieter new M5 version), or stop & go traffic randomly. Gas plus Max Regen regens so quickly in these, I never need to charge it now, to keep it topped off.
Right way to think of the PHEV plus V8TT is what you ended with…use it as an enhancement. Smooths out the delivery. Adds boost. Gives you dual modes. Want an EV? Get an EV, not a PHEV. Not a V8TT. Awesome beast for those of us bored by EV only without easy charging access, that love road trips with zero planning.
Buy the f90 lighter with same engine and better styling. Peak m5 in my opinion so much so I own one. I have e46 m3 too however the f90 is my favorite of all time.
Having briefly driven the i5 M50 some of the handling seems familiar here and notably the rear wheel steer allows for stupid tight u turns for a car this big. Now obviously all the “waiter-flourishes-hands-drama” of the combustion drivetrain is missing there. But with BMW’s Hans Zimmer soundtracks they attempt to cyborg the engine sound in the BEV’s interior. Overall iX is more compelling for most people but i5/M5 is a car for the journey and not merely the destination.
I am in Australia and can get the 540D much lighter load of torque and 700 mile range. Perfect for the outback here. And a Porsche Panamera Turbo E for the e range and the V8
I drove the M5 a bit on the track , and it just didn't feel as fun as the rest of the current M cars. M4/M3 is just way more fun and sounds better too (at least with the OPF here). I think M5 is more suited to autobahn cruising as it always has been. Felt a bit pointless on the track How's your experience with the others in comparison?
I owned an M3 G80 and used it as a daily driver, never went on a track with it and never would. I ordered the new M5 as I want a bit more comfort and a bigger car. Plus the V8 makes me happy too 😅
lmao how did you dip a tire into the dirt and not get yelled at. Last time I went to a BMW track they were extremely adamant on staying within track limits
DId you do a review for the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance? THat's sort of competitor and faster and I am interested in your take on the electric side of things since that one is very different as they put the American Axle company unit in the back with two speed tranny could be a lot smoother in the electric drive department
There is no comparison between the M5 and the Gt63se in term of electric capacity. The Amg battery is just there to boost the overall perf, and offers just about 6kms in full E.V While you can drive the M5 for 60 kms average in full E.V

love to see it
I see you’ve been learning from the best. Speedometer expertly blurred in all the recent videos!
m5 touring for sure...
Love this review.
@kyleconner I ordered one. Can’t wait for it to arrive!! Did you do a real world range test on EV mode?

You're the first person I've heard of enjoying the stiff suspension. Where do you usually drive around? Good roads?
My favorite M5 was the one with a V10!
Did you know I put 190,000 miles on my e60 v10 which I still have for 11 years?
@@The_North0 That's awesome!
If only they were even mildly reliable. Always wanted one but didn’t want to pay the upkeep
@@The_North0 I'm amazed! My old bimmer mechanic always said "E39 is bulletproof but avoid the e60..."
Downpipes + full exhaust + tune + wagon = sign here and here
the tires may be twitchy in the wet, but the sudden breakaway has to be partially due to the weight and monster torque

Nice ! And love the Touring !
fantastic video

Maybe the M5 isnt that bad honestly for how heavy it is
But like… 1300 pounds heavier than the last car? Really? Really? I gotta drive it first but I’m skeptical for now

Prob more forgiving to journalists

@@SudSale31 that's not what I asked. I care about the driving experience. to whom buy these kinda of cars if using it as EV it's just dumb
@@kyolmlstill tho doing errands all in EV or a boring commute is nice.
Sounds like Polestar 1 got it figured out much better than M5. 😁
