I don't blame you! It would be awful to ruin a batch, especially if you distill small batches. If you're past the hearts and into the tails, keep the tails with flavors you like, even if they have a bit of grunginess. If there aren't any flavors you like, there's no need to add them into your spirit. Where do you typically take your spirit vs. tails cuts? What's your spirit abv typically?
Molasses rum tails really taste like pasta water to me too😅. Sugar cane juice though tend to have different off flavours to my experience, closer to grappa tails
Lol thank you… I don’t own dogs so the whole wet dog thing escapes me, and I’ve never tasted wet card board… tails always reminded me of something that I couldn’t put my finger on. It’s totally noodles.
I've been around plenty of wet dogs and have most likely tasted wet cardboard, but I still get noodles haha. I'm happy to hear that's what you taste too!
@@RobynSmithPhD hypothetically yes. Some collect tails to 10% which is mostly water. But if you save up your tails for a end of year run it's a nice bonus.... Allegedly..
I keep hearing tails can work with barrel aging, but I just can't seem to get the courage to add any 😅

@Greedman456 I’m happy to hear you say that because sometimes I feel crazy saying “tastes like noodles” 😆

Gross cardboard taste
Do you get that note for all spirits you distill?

@@l0tus4life Yes, of course, it's all hypothetical!
