Awesome I can't remember if there was much a difference but perhaps since doing the video my ears have had some training so may tell.. will have to watch again
This is helpful. The difference is subtle but I put on some good headphones and I can hear it. The Tungsols were a bit smoother and less harsh. I just bought a Tube MP and I’ll definitely be swapping out the tube. Thanks for the vid.
bought a tungsol for my MP a couple years back for $20 now they are selling for double! great tube tho, pulling it out to swap it into my new Art levelar opto compressor, the improvements should be a winner 🏆
@illajayscrewedup5886 yeah I've sort of just kept it aside in case I want to experiment with it later on.... from memory I paid $20 for my ART mic pre. You using it for guitar or vocals?
Mostly vocals, but I've upgraded to a lunchbox in recent years, check out sound skulptor as well, they make some really cool boutique pres and eqs for 10th of the price but they rival $1000 gear
I bought an Art MP/C with a Tung Sol 7025 factory installed. Sound great with my Neumann TLM 107, which is too clean and bright without the tube preamp.
Crazy how much Movement you get from just a Tube swap
Absolutely noticed a difference in tube swaps, think I'll change mine soon.

Glad it was helpful:) you're welcome for the video
The ART TUBE AMP......is the real winner here.......my choice for years.
I purchased a Grace M101 eventually as I needed clean gain uncolored. Still have the Art but it's set aside until I find a need
I was getting some weird noises even with a power conditioner. Swappped to a $20 electro-harmonix Russian tube and now it works great.
I broke mine. Opened it too many times. Will solder the joints when I get time though to fix it. Great preamp!

Ha ha sweet I have two I can make a profit with then:) I haven't used the preamp at all since I bought a Grace M101.
@thesingingairlinepilot nice! The MP was my first mic pre so it's near and dear to my heart, stashing it as a collectors item lol

@illajayscrewedup5886 my Grace M101 was $800 so I won't be allowed to buy more gear for a while lol! Lunchbox....hmmm now I'm hungry

The tlm 107 is a bright microphone for sure. The tube warmth certainly helps tame some of the harshness
Sorry to mention it but man those S's are harsh!!
Yep, no Deessing applied. No need to say sorry
