Nothing is going to change by making the difference even greater.... Black history month is a form of segregation, even if if "benefits" black people...
It's not the matter of not talking about it. If Irony had another name it would be social justice.
The only reason they feel that way is because they have money. If they were poor, they'd have the same problems with White folks that other Black folks have...

It is a stance that is often missunderstood as "ignore it." That is not what he is saying; he is saying to not make such a big deal about race. Call a person a person, not a white person white or a black person black. Pointing out difference encourages disparity, we should be pointing out similarities.
his answer to what to do about racism was literally "Stop talking about it. (Period, long silent pause)." So yes his stance is certainly "ignore it", which is easy for him to say being a rich famous person who is very unlikely to be shot in the back by a cop, its as much about class as it is about race.
Bboy Streak Plenty of white people have attitudes and dont comply to every single little thing yet for some reason they dont get shot nearly as much as unarmed black people doing the same thing.
Racism is definitely something we need to deal with as there are people who still despise others based solely on the color of their skin. With that said, the only way to truly stop it is to stop trying to point out the differences of race, where we need to start acknowledging that every race and gender are equal. Once we gain the mentality that every individual is equal, than we can finally move away from racism.
It is their their right to despise anyone for whatever reason they want to. As long as there is no violence, they are just douchebags but not criminals. So there is nothing really to be done about it. The less we address this, the less common it will be. If you forbid someone to say their opinions, it just relegates them to the underground where they will form groups and become violent
We cannot stop racism as a people. We will be people. As a person, you deal with those who want to deal with you and stay away from those who do not want to deal with you.

Morgan Freeman is a wise man, as if everyone didn't already know that. We want the concept of racism to go away, yet some people just won't let it, because it is a convenient scapegoat to blame for their lack of effort in bettering their own lives. It is so easy to blame a concept when things don't go your way, and you can claim racism to get your way. 'White' people on the other hand, particularly men, are often victims of this same racism, particularly nowadays, and we can't say anything against it. We can't claim racism as a reason we didn't get accepted into our college of choice or get that job or promotion. Speaking of jobs, everyone is all about diversity, leaving the oh so privileged 'white' person out to dry.
@fox mulder He is actually totally right, nowadays, there is more racism towards whites than blacks. And that is because it is okay to insult/discriminate whites but if you even look at a black person the wrong way, you go to jail.
A. Not true B. The average person receives more then half of their income from inheritance, and since the majority of black people's grand parents were slaves they couldn't own land or earn money, plus the U.S straight up just gave white people land, so yeah white people are privileged
@@lol349 I'm gonna need some citation on that claim before you go throwing around stuff like that. 1. Maybe I'm alone here, but my inheritance amounted to a bunch of old photos and an equivalent to three paychecks for my inheritance from life insurance. And I thought that was pretty generous, my mom wasn't a holder of any societal status, but it was a decent sum nonetheless. But half of my income? Not even close. 2. Most people's pretty old grandparents now probably lived from the late 20's to the early 50's. Slavery was abolished almost a hundred years before that. That's one old family to have your grandparent living in the mid 1800's.
I was agreeing with you until that last sentence. Yes, companies are pressured to find "diverse" candidates for jobs, but it has definitely not resulted in white people being "left out to dry." ***** I do in fact think like him. I do not glorify racism with any kind of response. It's dead to me. I treat it as such. I was shooting for irony by calling him a 'prophet'. Guess it went over everyone's head. It's what he doesn't say. It's what he omits that's so powerful in his message. No one is going to solve these 'racial' issues by grinding them in to the ground and creating more vicious cycle/backlash. Racism will go away when everyone stops using it as a tool for gain. Peace!
What do we do with issues that affect people stemming from people who hold racist beliefs? Some of them are quite deadly. Do you think people will work together on the issue of e.g. police brutality when we don't talk about how of disproportionately affects people with a particular skin color? Just because we don't talk about skin color, doesn't mean other people won't cause harm because they still divide people based on skin color in their heads. At least that's my thoughts on this.
MoonShadeStuff Racism isn't what we think it is, neither leftists or conservatives. Racism is the belief that there are a hierarchy between races. Racialism is the belief there are races, instead of ethnicities. I think it's important to remind this since medias and people uses these terms in totally different ways nowadays. It's normal to have prejudices about people that are different than us, whether it's about skin color, but not only; the color of your hair, your culture: the way you dress, the way you talk, the way you looks, etc.. what we often see as racism is actually a combination of several of those things, mainly cultural stuff..since humans tend to live, hang out and marry with people that are closer to them. Then every individual has to make differences between prejudices, misconceptions and facts. So when it comes to a specifical issue, like police brutality, it's actually waaaay more complex than just 'huh racist cops' really. First, there is no evidence blacks are more targeted than other ethncities by the police in the us, they are more often shot, but they are proportionnately more often criminals than the rest of the population. (Race statistics in the us aren't precise enough btw and very arbitrary, but still gives a general trend) Second, even if they did, that wouldn't be a proof of racism, because there are so many external factors that can influence this, correlation is not causality.. Third, when you looks at the data, you'll find actually the problem in the us is more police brutality in a general way, not just against blacks, and systemic problems are concentrated in few areas that raises up the national statistics, mostly inner cities, tend to be worse in the southeast, but not only. To be specific, i think the police shootings are a little bit like airplane crashes, in the way it is mediatized, it's shocking, it's spontaneous, it gets EMOTIONAL, and that's all what this is really about. Then i don't deny racism might still be a problem in certain police departments but there are on the other hand hundreds of concrete every day problems that are linked to what prejudices people have about other people, but that doesn't goes to the headlines of course, and those can affects all parts of the population, though there is a tendancy of differences of the nature of those discriminations between poors and richs on a scale. Finally, when it comes about ethnicities, i agree with freeman, we makes it looks a way bigger issue than it is, and in the way we talks about it. Racism is rather a sort of replacement issue of many other issues we don't want to be confronted with, in a general way interethnic relations, specializations, cultural differences, criminality, external/internal migrations, etc.. and whether are those issues more or less linked to actual racism, those are still a thing in most countries of the world (often way worse than in the us) and it's really not just a black and white thing like some people would think it is.
I love how Don Lemon IMMEDIATELY changes the subject when Morgan Freeman mentions how people (especially the media) need to stop making race a bigger deal than it is.
When he says the best way to stop racism is to stop talking about it he obviously does not mean ignoring an issue makes it go away, but when lets say....a black man who was raised with no father in a ghetto culture gets shot by the cops for drug dealing, and you shout racism, you are not addressing the real problem, it was not the skin, but the actions. We need to focus on the actions of people and the towns and cities that promote such dangerous cultures and not just ignore all other factors and say "oh well its racism...end of story"
That pretty much summed up BlackLivesMatter, they only care about the thugs who got shot by cops(some were black cops) and can't be found anywhere when little girls are shot in their homes doing their homework by gang violence. Those people are exactly the sort that give black people a bad name and are driving everyone else away in disgust.
He lived through when things were bad. He was there for the civil rights movement, segregation etc. He pretty much said it right there, that he is proof that nobody is holding back the blacks.
Good old clear-headed Morgan Freeman. One of the only sane actors left in the industry. Neither left nor right. Straight down the centre. Rational, concise and no bullshit.
@C caymer You can be a conservative democrat or a democrat conservative. Not every republican have the exact same view point on the economical stand point. Same goes with the democrats. Not all of them believe the government should pay for everything. I'd wager that Morgan's political stand on the economy is more conservative than democratic.
Lou David - no such person existed... sorry, but if you know the Christian religion you'll know his name was joshua - not jesus....and he was not god, not nothing to do with god, he was a freedom fighter, the myth of jesus started after the temple of Solomon was destroyed in the years 60ad nearly 30 years after his death.... he had no idea about the movement or what it stood for as he was jewish not christain.
Jesus is not a jew! Oh yes his mother was a jew and a daughter of David's line. However His Father was the living GOD! Long after you are dead Ghoulza, He will be the Son of The living God forever! Jesus is the Greek form into english but His name was Yahshua or a better Hebrew rendering. You are probably a jew!

Yeah, when a policeman shoots an unarmed black man pinned to the ground several times in the chest point blank, as cold-blooded 1st degree murder, don't talk about it. Keep silent. Silence is what supports the oppression.
That's the problem with you people supporting blm. You focus on cops killing black people. And you make all that out to be a racist thing ad if cops only kill blacks. Bit when a white guy is killed by cops, none of you says a word about it. A cop killing a white guy doesn't fit with your hate of whites agenda so you ignore it. That is the big difference between you and me. I kniw cops are out of control. I kniw cops are bad. I get treated like shit by cops as much as you do. I don't give a fuck when a cop kills a black guy. I only give a fuck when a cop kills anyone. That's the big difference between you and me. You care about black lives and I care about all lives. In fact cops kill more white people every year. Where are your riots about those?
Just when I thought I couldn't respect this man on any higher level, I see these clips, and my admiration for him increases even more. When he was a young man, he faced big time oppression - not what a lot of folks complain about today as "oppression". And yet, he doesn't use his race as an excuse to continue playing the victim card. His message is what should be getting spread around these days: find what you want and go for it. Well done, Mr. Freeman.
It really is that simple, until i was old enough to understand what racism is, color of someone's skin never even crossed my mind, never seen other people as "different". But when everyone starts to push "racism" in everything, then you (like it or not) start thinking "oh he's/she's X or Y color, i should/shouldn't say this because it will end up racist". No one really cares about the shade of your skin, it's completely irrelevant - But ideas/politics/media, that is a problem.
Klaüs Smooth this is because tribalism while genetic is learned. Thus enforced. If not taught you would form your own prejudice rather those prejudice would be better or worst then those that were taught to you now. We may never know.
I agree. And certainly now. Recently had an argument on Tumblr about how everything seemed to be turned into a race issue these days. It started with a comment about how a white person was standing in front of a black person and how this white guy dared to stand all heroically infront of a black person. It ended up with me being called a clueless racist because I pointed out that that was plain silly. That's Tumblr for you.
same here my parents did not talk about race and racist black and white i never to this day get it how can one hate a nother because of there color and the answer the propaganda machine the news back in the 80s they tried to make blacks look bad today its the other way around and far as black history month its wrong black history should be taught the same year round all of it they still dont teach all black history to this day and i also feel they are trying to devide us
"As I sit in this beautiful seat under the smooth, white pillars of a nation filled with angelic souls, there is comfort that I find in all matters of life" (That's just my guess as to what he'd say if he got into office)

Racism is taught.
Ahaha thanks bro aha
I thought black people were cool because they are a minority - you typically see 1 black and 5 white guys in a TV show or something so that makes the character an outsider or something like that, which is something I always relate with.

Someone like Lil Wayne or Morgan Freeman, people who feel no animosity about race, are constantly being pressured and pushed to feel negatively about people because of their skin color. If Irony had another name it would be social justice.
The only reason they feel that way is because they have money. If they were poor, they'd have the same problems with White folks that other Black folks have...
I've noticed that this country treats poor Whites even worse than Black people. It's like they look at lower-class Whites and say---"HOW are YOU poor, you're WHITE!"
Stevie Del Ray, if you are poor , on welfare, no home to live in, couldn't find a job, who wouldn't be angry?...even if you were white. This is not a "black people" thing, this happens with the white community as well where you have poor people in shitty situations too... Who should they blame?

No matter what you think of Morgan Freeman, he is one cool dude. I like his stance on racism.
(Period, long silent pause)." @Mitchell Hart DarkHumor? Ok. I won’t take the conversation further as I’ve already gotten what I wanted.
We're equal because we're human.
Therefore racism shouldn't exist.
But... ya know who's being crying over the past 2 decades.
Black lives matter.
So basically you want to keep the foundations of racism alive until on some delusional alternate reality every single person on Earth is not racist, quite a dream bucko.

Yes, companies are pressured to find "diverse" candidates for jobs, but it has definitely not resulted in white people being "left out to dry." I can much more easily claim that every company you see has a majority of white workers, than you can baselessly claim that every company is all about diversity.

Actually he's God
M.F. is absolutely right: "stop talking about it."
At least that's my thoughts on this.
copy + paste
(Race statistics in the us aren't precise enough btw and very arbitrary, but still gives a general trend)
Second, even if they did, that wouldn't be a proof of racism, because there are so many external factors that can influence this, correlation is not causality..
I guess it's a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" kind of advice.
So when they were lynching the blacks should have just quit talking about

Right
Morgan freeman is the most level headed man. The world would be blessed if we all could be like him
When he says the best way to stop racism is to stop talking about it he obviously does not mean ignoring an issue makes it go away, but when lets say....a black man who was raised with no father in a ghetto culture gets shot by the cops for drug dealing, and you shout racism, you are not addressing the real problem, it was not the skin, but the actions.
Dragoninthewest Delta Blues and whiskey month. I'll drive up South for that!
Interviewer: How do u stop racism?
Morgan: Stop talking about it
AMEN
yes
No how will we move past it tho. It’s like a giant elephant in the room
Interviewer: Nope quickly bring him a birthday cake and change the subject so that everyone forgets.
@@wirly- Don Lemon asked, considering what's happening in the news... Ka-la-sick
im sure mlk and all those activists fought jim crow law and all those racist laws by not talking about it... sure
I’ve never strongly agreed with someone before in my life.
"Stop talking about it."
Genius Theory!!
Common sense is becoming less and less common
What I did was distance myself from the scum of my community. I've never had a run in with the police. I think it was the right choice
Yes. It's just like ignoring a bully.
From my experience, it totally works.
Morgan Freeman one of the smartest men America.
No, but he is at least one of the most sane.
medexamtoolsdotcom Agree, it was pure common sense what he told them that day...
I think he made a good point, but white history month exists...
Das Nightmare well there was that one movie
No OnE tHe OtHeR well he didn't play God for nothing...
"... good excuse for not getting there...". I love that statement from Mr. Morgan.
Life owes me nothing. I acknowledge and accept the hurdles.
Freeman.
I love this man, he is my hero. Go Morgan Freeman!!!
eliarevalo he should be President for real
MoneyInator shut up non white
Lmao At the left And you are trying to continue this argument, honestly what you just said made no sence and i am white
MoneyInator good one dumb ass
Lmao At the left I know ;)
It really is that simple, until i was old enough to understand what racism is, color of someone's skin never even crossed my mind, never seen other people as "different".
Yeah don't go to Tumblr :)
Hahaha, good advice. Seriously, it ruined pretty much my whole day and I feel silly for getting so upset about it. But I can't help it XD
same here my parents did not talk about race and racist black and white i never to this day get it how can one hate a nother because of there color and the answer the propaganda machine the news back in the 80s they tried to make blacks look bad today its the other way around and far as black history month its wrong black history should be taught the same year round all of it they still dont teach all black history to this day and i also feel they are trying to devide us
I WISH MORGAN WOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT .
He would be good but he's too damn old
@@rudimentaryganglia Says who? you know by his standards and life experience you are just a noob, I know who I'd rather have.

"As I sit in this beautiful seat under the smooth, white pillars of a nation filled with angelic souls, there is comfort that I find in all matters of life"
(That's just my guess as to what he'd say if he got into office)
Judge a man by his character and his actions!
His last name says everything. 'Freeman' he's an awsome actor
Two things I love about this, Morgan Freeman has one of the healthiest views around, and for the rest of the day every thought I have will be narrated by his voice.
Good for you, Mr. Freeman. Thank God for intelligent Men like you and others, brilliantly deterring race baiters !!
sent by GOD or is he GOD
What’s funny is that he is an atheist
