- Smoked Blacktip Shark Dip - Plus My Smoking Setup.
With the leftover Blacktip Shark Steaks from yesterday, I made some smoked fish dip. The preparation was the same as my other smoked fish dip methods as I first brined them in a dry mixture of five parts brown sugar to one part kosher salt. After brineing over night, I gave them a good wash down and then laid them out on a wire rack to dry for a couple of hours. Then it was on to my Brinkmann Smoker for a smoke over some smoldering cherry wood chips. After cooling, I shredded them with a fork and added them to my dip mixture.
Dip mix:
Whipped cream cheese
Sour Cream
Mayo
Mixed diced vegetables (primarily garlic, onion, celery.peppers)
Hot sauce
Paprika
Lipton Onion Soup Mix
Black Pepper
Lemon
All ingredients to taste and consistency of dip preferred.
Serve on crackers or bread.

Well yes, you got it right here. I liked the way you handled and smoked the shark. The dip looks quite tasty. I would serve with lemon wedges and capers.
I gotta start using the capers. Get that recommendation a lot. Will add it to the shopping list.
I can't wait to try this recipe out on my smoker. Looks absolutely amazing.
Excellent recipe. I have smoked salmon quite a bit, but have never tried shark or shark dip.
Fish dip is hard to go wrong. Love the stuff.
YOU SHOULD MAKE A COOKING SHOW TOO IT WOULD DO WELL. BOTH CHANNELS WOULD BRING IN GOOD REVENUE I THINK. IF YOU HAVE TIME! LOL TAKE CARE STEVE!
That would take too much time away from fishing. LOL.
Always informative, and precise.
Appreciate it info. Thanks for checking it out.
I am so happy to see you did shark. When I dive and spearfish there are a lot of small shark and often wonder what they would taste like.
That looks so damn good!
It's making me fat right now.
OMGGGG that is the still the best smoker today i grew up on that one my dad used to use all the time im 30 now
Plain and simple is all that you need. Stick to the basics and you will be fine.
Nice! I'm also 30 now, good memories of Dad and fishing and fish-fries with his signature seasoning.
I'm almost 60 and I remember my dad using a Brinkman just like that one.
You make it look so good
Great video as always me and my grandma enjoy watching ! Tight lines .
Good deal. Make sure she subscribes. Tight lines.
Key West Kayak Fishing thx and of course
Thanks Steve! I‘m keeping my next little blacktip to eat this way.
Some good stuff. Your friends will love you for it.
Man Steve, that shark looked awesome off that smoker!! Then the dip, wow, mouth is a waterin'!! Love your vids, thanks so much for all your hard work producing them and sharing with us!!!! W
I like the way you handled the shark to keep it fresh! The smoked shark looked so yummy. The dip was fantastic too!
Subscribed to your Channel just yesterday! Very interesting videos!
Smoked Sssshark, nice preparation, congratulations to the Chef.
Thanks b yakr. It was some good stuff.
I smoke alot fish and meats and cheese .Looks great! the fish and dip.Make good sandwich.Luv catch and cook! Thanks again for sharing.Hope fully some day Ill make it down south so I can try these things God bless. Jay
I did do some sandwiches at the end. Some hearty stuff.
I've been debating keeping a shark for a few years now and after watching your last two videos I'll be pulling the trigger on that next time. I love smack and I bet shark lends itself well. Nice job! Looks fantastic!
It's a nice solid piece of meat. Just make sure you clean it really quickly and get it on ice.
Another great video! Steve, instead of using lighter fluid get yourself a Chimney. They are about $12-$14 and are actually easier to use, take about the same amount of time for the coals and will save money. I bought my Chimney about 5 years ago and it's still good to go, just needs paper for starter. I would have probably spent $40 or more on lighter fluid versus $12 and don't have to be bothered with lighter fluid smells, tastes and not knowing what gases are permeating your meat.
Good tips. Too lazy though. LOL.
My chimneys never last me more than 2 seasons but its still worth it to keep that charcoal starter flavor away from my food.
Very interesting thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
You are eating well, my friend:). Just got my smoker, and I will try this recipe. Thank you for the videos.
Good deal. The smoker opens up so many more possibilities.
Wow nice video damn that look 👀 really good and I'll bet it tastes better. Keep fishing and cooking bro!!!!

Take a look at the video before this one.
wauw loooks yummmy i get hungry
You cook just as good as you fish, dang, love your vids, from Nanook of the North
wow, I am hungry now
Steve, don't forget we're still wanting a spearfishing video with the Hawaiian sling you made. You still planning on doing that?
Yup. Can't do anything until the water clears up.
Awesome video Steve!!! We're going to try some smoked fish the way you did it in the brine!! Did your shark meet up on all your expectations of what you thought it would be? Take care Steve and tight lines!!!!
Yea, it came out great. Nice and flaky. Good stuff. Usually do the mackerals or amberjacks because they are oily but the Shark came out great. Not dry at all. I just didn't smoke for a long.
I've been waiting for the shark :^)
Yea, lots of people were.
That easily could be dinner for me....
Hey I'll be coming down to the keys in around a month, we are staying in coco Kay island do you know any good finishing spots around there, like coordinates, etc.
Marathon. The bridges or head out to the humps. Permit, Bonefish on the flats. It's an island so you are surrounded by fish.
Why do u always use the barbaque. Do u have a stove or is there no gas lines in the keys?
Cooking fish in the house stinks it up.
superbe vidéo merci mais maintenant j'ai faim 😀😀😄😄
LOL> Merci. C'était vraiment bien. Je le mange maintenant. Une superbe collation.
I have got to try this method and make dip , every time you make that dip I want some lol.
Will it turn out good with freshwater fish like bass, bluegill, or trout ?
I think it does better with firmer meat fish, so I would think Garfish would be good.
I do it with Salmon so trout might be good.
you in key west using lemons? where the key limes at?
Put that between some bread oh yeah
I love your channel I never knew sharks excreted there urine trough there skin.
learned fishing lessons cooking lessons and some biology and my wife thinks I just day dreaming
lol she want she's not that into nature keep up the good work
looks great, next one mr jack creval ..smoking.
Going to be doing a Jack soon, probably not smoked though. Amberjacks on the other hand is the way to go.
How about you took that sugary dark shark juice and cook it down with herbs and spices.
Shark BBQ sauce right there. Don't waste anything.
A little bit of Whiskey and down it. Gotta man up. Put hair on your insides. LOL.
Corrected it. Damn grammar nazis...
@Key West Kayak Fishing
Make a video of you doing it with a clickbait title. 100k+ views easy
then does that mean miss spelling is jewish? i have no clue what i just said
Yummy!!!
Eating it now. Very good.
If you don't soak your wood chips and you just put them in dry, meat/fish will have a sweeter smokey taste. I like using oak.
Have had shark before, just didn't care for it. Of course, made your way is different. Great video!
Yea, it is all in the preparation. I didn't find there was any fishy taste so how you prepared it would make all the difference in the world.
Awesome dude! Thanks for doing a shark catchncook
Love your vids
No problem. It was highly requested.
Steve, I see on the Mallory Square Web Cam that Sunday is very windy. Are you bridge fishing today? Mickey
You will see tomorrow. Yea it is windy as hell.
Omg that sound of the spoon scraping it's like a chalk board. But bro looks amazing. Send me your address you need this thing I use for grilling fish ten times better then just putting them on the grill.
The best woods for smoking fish are #1 mangrove and #2 Florida swamp titi. They want bitter your fish from over smoking.
Logger John.
Steve, Where do you learn to cook? Everything always looks so good. Mickey
From traveling.
Ever try lemon shark? Or Bonnet heads?
No, the Lemons we have are pretty big and the Bonnet pretty small. Blacktips are perfect size.
LOL!!! As always, THANKS!
No prob.
Looks good but just the thought of eating a damn Shark freaks me out lol scared....love the catch and cook bro
Glad you are liking them. Don't fear the dip. LOL.
K-1 kerosene is best to star the charcoal on and I think is cheaper than staring fluid.
What does shark taste like?
like tuna.
I think it's taste is closer to Swordfish.
If use vegetable oil on news paper or paper towels to get your charcoal going you don't need charcoal lighter.
man u make me hungry
Your missing out.
My first shark experience almost made me puke,it's stunk really bad. I do not know how to clean it properly so it ended up being ant food.
Blacktip Shark Fish Dip...say that 5 times fast.... looks good from here
Too busy eating. LOL.
try throwing in some worcestershire sauce nect time.
Will do. Have to buy some. Capers too.
Damnit man.. why cant i live next to the ocean... i only get to go once a year and i fish every damn day!
Yea, it is wonderland.
Num num numm !
You got it. Good stuff.
Love your channel, but please say no to lighter fluid. It doesn't burn off,and can easily contaminate your pit. Try the weber cubes and a chimney.
james rudman well it's said that you suppose to let the bricks or ambers all gray and white before cooking! so not fluid is present! but still...do you think?
Hmm let me guess. Weber said you need to buy the Weber cubes in order to do it right. LOL. Sucker.
Key West Kayak Fishing I didn't even comment on the Brinkman, and no, Weber didn't tell me say that. A wsm blows that pos away. I personally use a couple paper towels in a bit of cooking oil to light the chimney.. Your fishing skills are superb. I learn a lot.
Fishing Rod it's ez to step up your q game, I've lurked on bbq brethren for some time now and have learned a lot from seasoned pros. Natural lump solves having to grey over.
have some shark with that sour cream
dam i didnt know that about sharks ,when i lived in ft myers i caught the heck out of them and didnt clean them till i got home , i ate them and didnt realy have a bad smell or taste , but i know better for next time . thanks
You can probably buy some time if you are icing them down quickly, but best to do the total prep thing to make sure.
are you gonna save the jaws?
Crab bait.
20:32 dont leave until u gimmie some of that dip :(
When I make dip it goes fast. People love the stuff.
hey I bet you can make that dip without the shark and you couldn't tell the difference
10:05 dude I hate you! 😋😂
You suck. Now Im hungry lolol. When you lifted the container to the camera I actually tried to smell it hahahaha. Im about 8 hrs away. Save me some??? :)
Will do.
Steve could throw one heck of a tailgate party, right?
Make the dip and they will come.
that is a salmon cure mixture
Tuna fresh smoked salmon catfish tipblma fish new north pick fox river smoked fish new carp fish dip
chuck some macaroni in there boi
cubed potatoes?
oh thats right.. dip
that smoked shark looked so nice
pin this if you love your fans 🙂
Hate em all. LOL.
No.
Steve, Shark and Fried Bake. It's a Trini thing... not a fan of keeping / killing sharks due to the fining that trawlers have been doing locally. Our shark population has decreased significantly.
Yea, we don't have a Shark issue down here. There is actually no limit on most of our Sharks. Very healthy population.
Man that shit a heart attack waiting to happen. Why would anyone eat that crap
lol you obviously have never seen how most of America eats
that looks delicious...I love shark...and part way through I realized it was a dip bc I don't read titles lol
