      @tthompson7609 - I am not a Carolina Panthers fan but think they did great in the draft AND FREE AGENCY. First things first, the Panthers spent a lot of money improving the defense and offensive line, in the off-season. Completely revamped defense. The defense could definitely improve to top 15 in the NFL in points allowed. The 2018 Bears were really good ONLY because their defense was incredible. They easily led the league in takeaways and provided so much opportunity for the offense. Your GM is making a wise decision to solidify the defense while continuing to improve the offense, across the board. Xavier Legette matched with Thielen and Diontae Johnson should be a productive group of receivers. Jonathan Brooks, if healthy, is a very important pick. Chuba Hubbard is a solid backup and Miles Sanders was a wasted signing. It was a lack of respect to D'Onta Foreman to not give him at least one more season after he almost carried the Panthers with no QB in the playoffs in 2022. He was amazing after the McCaffrey trade. The Panthers will almost assuredly release Sanders after the 2024 season. The TE from Texas is a clear upgrade from the TE's the Panthers have had over the last 4 seasons. I am not a Carolina fan but it even was frustrating for me that the Panthers never upgraded their TE's over the last 4 seasons. Why not? LB Trevin Wallace is a speedy player. If Bryce Young doesn't significantly improve, maybe giving Jack Plummer an opportunity is a worthwhile idea.

  • @Dennis_Reynolds_Golden_God
    @Dennis_Reynolds_Golden_God Месяц назад +118

    I couldn't disagree more on the Panthers draft. They managed to grab the number one rated RB in the second and the second rated TE in the fourth. They got a lot of value on those picks to me. If KC grabbed Brooks he'd be considered a steal.

      cris Collinsworh “AD Mitchell has everything that Marvin Harrison has and more, and he’s a better route runner. He is clever in how he changes speeds in his routes. He possesses an absurd amount of talent. Might have more upside than any prospect he’s ever seen”

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 Месяц назад

      It was decent. They can't be said to have Truly Whiffed on any prospect by leaving someone clearly better at the same position on the board.
      But I was stunned at how most of their picks were for defense. They have the wizard Ejiro Evero who can make a lot out of very little. The Broncos went from 1st (before they erupted late in '22) to worst just due to him leaving.
      They didn't maintain their focus on where it needed to be. Same with the Steelers. That o-line got _that QB room_ to the playoffs. So it obviously wasn't crap. But they traded away one of only two WRs of note in the off-season.
      What use having a better o-line when there's no one to pass to? Plus in that situation, having open receivers reduces that pressure on the o-line.
      They left So Many good prospects on the board that would have helped the o-line & increased their scoring chances & instead they went for getting .4 more yards per rush which won't change a thing for them. So while none of their picks are _bad_ (both teams here) one could argue they both had higher priority needs at other positions.

    Legette and Brooks aren’t reached when they would’ve been gone within the next 10 picks if the panthers didn’t draft them(funny how you didn’t list Pearsall as a reach for the 49ers even though he was supposed to go after Legette). Also, even if the panthers aren’t a RB away doesn’t mean that it is bad to draft one in the second round. A good running game will be of immense benefit to Bryce Young. The panthers won’t have to pass as much and they will have less 2nd+3rd down and longs which will make things easier for Bryce. Regarding the Sanders pick, why would the panthers give Tremble another year as the starter when he hasn’t even been able to crack 200 yards in a season so far? The panthers mostly focused on improving the defense and O-line in free agency so it’s makes sense that they would focus on getting more weapons in the draft for Bryce Young, which they did.

    • @YT-Holdings
      @YT-Holdings Месяц назад

      @hawkeye0378 - The Panthers did very well in free agency. They vastly improved their defense and offensive line. The also did very well in the draft. Xavier Legette was a great pick and playing with Diontae Johnson and Adam Theilen should make for a more productive passing game in 2024. Sanders was a necessary selection because the Panthers have had almost no production from their TE's over the last 4 seasons. Why did it take so long? I really like that the Panthers drafted a RB. I believe Trey Benson would have been a wiser pick. Why draft Jonathan Brooks off an ACL injury when Trey Benson was great last season and ran a 4.39 forty at the combine? I am happy they are trying to improve RB. Why take a chance when there was another option available? A healthy Jonathan Brooks is a great RB. Hopefully, it will work out well for the Panthers.

    Quick genuine question for Hayden: you often mention Jayden Daniels' lack of pass attempts under pressure, but do you think that gets offset by his actual results under pressure? Yes he only attempted passes on 50% of pressured dropbacks vs 65%ish for the Mayes/Calebs of the world, but he converted 1st Downs on 33% of pressures, compared to 25% for those other two. Additionally, he also had a better Passing PFF grade, NFL QB Rating, Completion percentage etc while facing pressure.
    All this is a long-winded way to say, is there a chance you're being too harsh on him with this one particular metric? Attempted passes at a lower clip vs pressure, but maybe picked his spots - since he had so much more success when he *did* throw

      Most analysts are crapping all over the Commies draft because they couldn't get one of the top Tackles. Short of giving up a future 1st and trading up into the top 20 there was just no way to get that done.

      The LT problem scares me, but it really was the reaches on the TE, OT/G, and WR prospects that dropped it a little bit. None of those will really matter tho. Daniels is everything to this team.

    Speaking of George Kittle, Tim reimann ranked 10th in ras in like the last 1200 tight ends drafted since like 1970. Dude is an athletic freak who just didnt get a chance to show it at at Illinois who didnt utilize tight ends. He takes tremendous pride in blocking just like Kittle. And I have never seen a TE talk about blocking like him besides Kittle. You can talk about the value all you want but I think he is going to be an absolute beast in the run and pass game for a team that uses multiple tight end sets.

Penix was my number 2 QB so they got the number 2 QB at 8. It’s a steal. But i plan to do a recap next year. And see who was right and wrong. Hayden’s been crazy wrong a lot of stuff so we should do some recaps on previous mistakes. That would be interesting and funny. You guys could laugh and get more likes too.

    No RB at all taken by the Cowboys, WTH? Spot on for the Cowboys, and the comment about the love for Zeke is uncanny. Jerry loves all our players, like his own kids. Doesn't have that cut throat mentality and thus keeps players too long or welcomes them back when they should be gone for good, a' la, Jason Witten, what a bum he turned out to be after the TV stint. Stay tuned for Zeke to fall short, we're a mess.

This draft spoke volumes about their plans moving forward - I think their version of “all-in” may be pertaining to Lance’s future, not Daks current situation. Excited to see what Lance can do in the preseason, time to see if the hype is real. Great content as always gentlemen.

    It's so strange that people have McCarthy above Penix in evaluations so consistently. Penix and Nix both showed way more on tape and were tasked with carrying teams. Penix has a great arm. Still a very dubious pick for the Falcons, but saying Penix is a round 2 qb prospect is wild I don't care how popular it is of a thought. Penix and Nix stack up very well vs 1st round QB's taken over the past decade.

    Calling Legette and brooks a reach when we picked them right before other teams were going to take them is funny. NE tried to trade up to take Legette and Dallas told everyone they wanted brooks. Not to mention saying we traded up for Brooks is not the whole story we traded back got a 2nd for next year and a 5th then traded that 5th to move back up and beat Dallas to the best RB in the draft. Legette was the best contested catch WR and best blocking WR in the draft class going to a team that struggled with both those things and said they were going to be run first.
