David Foster who wrote, arranged ,and produced this Whitney has known AJ since she was 9. There is even a picture of the 2 of then holding a copy of her book she wrote at nine.
In 2019 Angelina recorded a tribute to Whitney in the key of C, and now she has made an Angelina rendition in the key of E. Angelina shows us her emotional genius with this performance.
Whitney did Whitney perfectly. So does Angelina. Angelina also does Patsy Cline, Freddy Mercury, Nina Simon, Patsy Cline, Rihanna, Sinatra, one on and on , perfectly.
As some others have mentioned, Angelina sang this several years ago, and it was more of a tribute to Whitney. It was the only time I saw Angelina coming up against her vocal limits. It was, of course, a 13 year old covering Whitney-and it was very good. Today, you saw Angelina singing this in her beautiful lower register, making it her own as we like to say. She’s at ease, comfortable in her voice despite the belting and other vocal dynamics. You’re right-it’s definitely grown-up Angelina: confident, at ease, in control, and stunning.
Yes, filmed in the same antique store in the LA area as Suspicious Minds and also My Funny Valentine! Angelina has done this song several times starting at 13 where she did it in (I think) the same key as Whitney. Towards the end she was straining a little, but she did an outstanding job especially for 13! Whitney was a soprano while Angelina is a mezzo-alto and since that first time she has sang it in a lower key but the vocal range is still there! At her concert 2 weeks ago today in Portsmouth NH she finished the 18 song concert in barely over 2 hours with this song! Who else would attempt this song after having done 17 others in 2 hours?

At 13 she did a studio cover tribute to Whitney in the same key as the original. Many say she was responding to folks who thought she didn't have the range because of her jazz background. It was a stellar performance but slightly strained at times. This particular performance is viewed by many as Angelina's statement that she had arrived. Actually at 1and a half it was a different song not this one, it was written by Dolly Parton where this one was written by David Foster.. Both songs were in the same movie The Bodyguard.

Great reaction. Amazing performance by a then 16 year old Angelina. Whitney released this song at 29. You wonder how she would have sounded at 16 doing this song. She had an incredible voice so she may have been amazing at that age too but I think Angelina would have been right up there. I’m not necessarily a fan of this particular song in general. I think a lot of Whitney’s songs were a little over the top for me, especially I Will Always Love You When compared to Dolly Parton’s sweet and intimate original.

From all I read, Whitney sang it live usually a semi-tone lower than in studio, while Angelina sang it her 3 semi-tones lower, i.e. one note lower than Whitney live.

it is also note worthy that only time that Whitney sang this in the highest note was the studio Version. All the other times when she was singing this song live etc whitney was actually singing this Song in a lower note than Angelina. Ask a vocal coach
From all I read, Whitney sang it live usually a semi-tone lower than in studio, while Angelina sang it her 3 semi-tones lower, i.e. one note lower than Whitney live.

@redheadedneighbor it is isn't it. The difference is everytime Angelina sings that song It is either a live recording or in a live concert like the one She just had in Portsmouth . It has not had any studio work
