Such a special song, just a beautiful, clean performance
Such a talented band. Todd's voice is amazing 👏 😍 thank you for featuring them!
Love these guys so much! Have owned this CD since the 90’s and still have it!
Have loved this band since the 90s when my husband and I lived in Colorado. They are from Boulder, CO and this concert took place at Red Rocks near Denver which has amazing acoustics. They were playing for their home crowd. It's a gorgeous song and the lyrics are poetry.
I think they all went to the now infamous Columbine. Todd did for sure.
But they played in Boulder and Ft. Collins a lot, for sure.
Somehow I’ve never heard this band, or didn’t know it was them if I heard it! Great song, love his voice and the whole vibe. Thanks for reacting to this❤🔥
When I was in college (early to mid-90's) this song was all over the radio.
Thank you guys so much! I knew you would love it. Every time I hear that song, I turn it way up and just smile!
Omg thank you!!I have been requesting this exact video for ages!! I love this group, they are still around today and have a very loyal fan base!! You should try Can't Slow Down and Broken Hearted Savior from this same awesome concert!
So pretty. The guitar solo was a pleasant surprise. Bittersweet vibes. Red Rocks is a beautiful place. One of U2's well known live performances is from Red Rocks, "Sunday Bloody Sunday". Thank you!!
Definitely my favorite song by them. It has a vibe!
Saw them live a handful of years ago playing with Cracker, Blues Traveler and Barenaked Ladies. Phenomenal show!
I saw them on the same tour! It was an amazing show all the way around. Great bands!
Awe man. What an awesome lineup. Wish I would have seen that one for sure. Good on you!
Great song, great album! Fantastic live!
Thanks for the reaction. I've loved listening to Big Head Todd and the Monsters for over 30 years now, and it is just as fresh now as it was when I first listened to them. Just a great and talented band. It's unfortunate they don't get the acclaim and recognition they deserve. If you want a unique video to react to, I would suggest Big Head Todd's solo video of When the Levee Breaks, it's brilliant.
This was really very nice… I never heard it before.. beautiful! Thanks guys!
A great local Colorado band playing at the best outdoor music venue in America, Red Rocks. Great view and great acoustics.
Welcome to Big Head Todd And The Monsters hombres!!!!! A fabulous band with great music. Feel free to try their tune “Resignation Superman” next. I promise you won’t be disappointed. So says Austin Tx!!!! 😎🍸
I've never heard of this band, I think I would have remembered that name!! Okay, quick check, they are a rock band which formed in 1986 in Colorado, so that's interesting. I really like this, lovely melody, nice vocals, good guitar solo, what's not to like about it?? Thanks so much for this reaction, guys, and for introducing me to another new band! All the best.😊👍
Thanks! I appreciate that you researched them so I didn’t have to! They are great!
They do an amazing cover of the song Brandy (by Looking Glass) that’s better then the original!! Check it out 🔥
Anne definitely check “Please Don’t Tell Her.” I think you’ll love it!😊
Check out their song Broken Hearted Savior. Sooooo good. I was into these guys because a friend of mine had grown up w them in Co.
I used to see these guys playing parties and small clubs in Colorado before they became popular. Todd can rip on that guitar. Such nice tone, too.
They put out some great music over the years.
Making Colorado proud.
Wow great melody and vocals. I’ve never heard this band before but will definitely be checking out more of their songs. Great reaction again guys.
volume swells is what it's called done with volume knob and yes, the piano accents are lovely
One of my co-workers from California (I'm from the Southern USA) got to talking with me one day about music. He asked me if I'd heard Big Head Todd and the Monsters, which I had no clue. I'm 65 so what a wonderful surprise when I looked them up and loved them. I called him and asked if he had more suggestions. He told me Snarky Puppy and to start with live DVD recording session called We Like it Here and start with Shofukan. I was blown away. Ever so often I call him back and ask him What else you got?
This is way better than the studio version!
GEORGE AND PATRICK! THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS & YOU DID RED ROCKS 😭😭😭 You rule! 👑 Most people don't catch the words in the 2nd & 3rd verses to show how much the relationship has changed over time because the melody & voice tone is fairly consistent. Anyone that's been in a long term relationship can relate on some level. (I've been married 28 years)
Verse 1
A little light looks through her bedroom window
She dances, and I dream
She's not so far as she seems
Of brighter meadows, melting sunsets
Her hair blowing in the breeze
And she can't see me watching
Verse 2
I said I'm older now
I work in the city
We live together
But it's different than my dream
Morning light fills the room I rise
She pretends she's sleeping
Are we everything we wanted?
Verse 3
Said I know we don't talk about it
We don't tell each other
All the little things that we need
We work our way around each other
As we tremble and we
As we tremble and we bleed
As we tremble and we
As we tremble and we bleed
Chorus (BELOW) & title make sense now, right?
I think of it this way - somedays the relationship it's more bitter than sweet. Others, more sweet than bitter. Overall, it's a bittersweet SURRENDER.
"I'm thinking love
Love
Love
Love
It's bittersweet
More sweet than bitter
Bitter than sweet
It's a bittersweet surrender
It's bittersweet
More sweet than bitter
Bitter than sweet
It's a bittersweet surrender"
Agree Jennifer! The lyrics are spot on in so many ways in regards to relationships (thus the title), yet still very beautiful🌿
Way underated . For a longtime they were a warmup band , when i saw them in early 90s they warmed up for blues traveler and alman brothers . Bighead todd was great had possibly best vibe with good bands all around
Under rated band ,guitarist . Sister Sweetly, Runaway Train, Resignation Superman ,Blue Skies, Circle , Dirty Juice , Beautiful World , Broken Hearted Savior and more great works from them
FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY! I’m constantly waiting for reactors to discover BIg Head Todd and the Monsters. Bittersweet is always on my playlist. They also allow you to download their music from their webpage. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I got into these guys back when they were getting going. A friend of mine grew up w them in Co. I dug every song of theirs. Their best though imo is Broken Hearted Savior. If you haven't heard that tune, it's worth a listen and will likely end up on your chill playlist.
Love this song!! 😊
This is such a cool band and beautiful song. It is so smooth and chill. Strange coincidence that you posted this today as they will be playing here in Vegas this Sunday. There is still time to get your tickets guys!!😊Love your reaction and openness to listening to all this different music, thank you🧡
🙋🏻♀️Count me in the club here of 1st-time listeners of this band - liked the vibe- almost instantly reminded me of Dire Straits.. Sultans of Swain
I think.
One of my favorite bands from the 80's and Todd is a fantastic guitarist, one of the best. Pretty underrated I think, although they got relatively popular. This is them playing for the hometown crowd and while I wasn't there I can guarantee you everyone in that crowd was singing along and hanging on every note. Bittersweet was off their second album Midnight Radio and I believe their first hit song here locally. Midnight Radio is one of my favorite albums, just beautiful stuff. They have played Red Rocks more than any other band I can think of.
They were fantastic. Broken Hearted Savior is still one of my favorite songs today, along w Circle.
This was such a good reaction video,…such a joy to see others who come across something they weren’t expecting and to appreciate it in the way you both did. It’s life affirming.
Great song!
Since I’ve discovered Music Reactors…I’ve been trying to get Big Head Todd and the Monsters attention!!
They are amazing! Discovered them in the 90’s in Texas. This is from their Debut Album. Highly Recommend y’all download!!
Finally!!! Someone reacted To BHTATM!!! I've been requesting them for 2 years. Thank you Thank you Thank you! 💜💜💜
Please give a listen BHT&TM's song, Circle, for some of the most amazing, blues-rock guitar work and soulful vocals by BHT. Another of his best songs is "Broken-hearted Stranger"... and don't forget Boom Boom, performed at the same concert as Bittersweet.
Great reaction. Check out their song Broken Hearted Savior next. BHT&TM rock bro's.
Broken Hearted Savior
Oh, I love this band - this takes me back.
Never heard this song until about 6 years ago. It’s on all my playlist now. Live version is money
Todd Mohr the lead singer is a great guitarist! You should check out them singing and playing Rosalita with the famous John Popper, that is another great vid and more recent so you can see how the band sounds now. I believe Rosalita was originally a Springsteen song.
And one more great vid featuring Todd and the band playing "Hoochie Coochie Man" with the blues legend Buddy Guy-- there is some serious guitar shredding by both guys in that vid, ha!
I love Big Head Todd! They’re super well known so it surprised me when I saw you were reacting to them but I’m PSYCHED! You guys should also check out Broken Hearted Savior & Sister Sweetly ❤
Their version of John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom” is a banger!!
Agreed! Vincent of jersey into boom boom is magical
Haven't watched yet but I love this song. I hope you guys did too.
good album for long drives
I loved this band...and most of my friends had never heard of them. Red Rocks is the perfect setting for them. Broken Hearted Savior is great too. Thanks I'm still hoping you react to John Denver's "Annie's Song". You loved the one song you reacted to of his...Country Roads. I was hoping you would follow up with Annie's Song. (You have to be in the mood for a beautiful love song lol.)
You guys definitely have the same taste in music as I do.
I’ve never heard of this band, but I like them…..and they remind me a lot of the Canadian band “The Barenaked Ladies”, a really great group…..you should check them out.
Listen to it's alright also from big head Todd at red rocks
Combining the riffs from the 80:s with modern lyrics....nice.
This is great - so happy I stumbled across it. The only song I know by them is called "Resignation Superman" which is also great and worth a listen...a little more intense and higher energy (not that that makes it better or worse, just different and also good :) )
Great find!!
Oh and another beautiful guitar solo is from that same concert, a song called "Please Don't Tell Her".
Great, great song.👍
Man, so happy you guys are giving BHTM some love.
Broken Hearted Savior and It’s Alright are big songs for them. Thy are still performing and pumping out new music. I think they are teed up to do Red Rocks in June of 2023. Their channel is fat.
Sad how many wonderful relationships at the start fall into complacency and indifference over time.
I don’t think some people understand the lyrics. Great song.
You should check the band Toad the Wet Sprocket for another group with a similar great laid back ‘90s vibe.
Everything sounds better at Red Rocks Amphitheater!
Dimash Qudaibergen & Aida Garifullina - ULISSE
Hey you guys should check out Phil Keaggy.Maybe "sounds" or "Full Circle" " or " The Wind and the wheat" just to name a few
Guys…I highly recommend
