Red Green a Canadian says "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy" What a stud Frankie is by being both!!!!
@@stevewoods8116 Best episode ever IMHO was making a car teen proof!
I didn't even realize it was over an hour until you said it. Bella and I were just chilling after driving all day along the Northern Lake Superior 17S in Ontario. You guys did a great job. You all should be proud. 😊
Awesome job on those decks and stairs Frankie!!!🤗 Everly is just so darn adorable love her big smiles, she's a happy baby girl 👶🤗❤️👶🤗❤️👶🤗❤️
The stairs were pro!!! Thank you so much for the love Barbara!!
You guys are amazing! Frank, my back started hurting just watching you work. The deck is beautiful. Love the “family” effort that you guys always put forth.
omg Real Pro Van R Frankie's back was cooked some days after working on this. Luckily no big injuries but he did take a few days off after lifting all the boards cause he was aching! Thanks for the love!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I watched the entire video. The promise of seeing Frank's "deck" 😂 kept me watching. It looks beautiful. With that job on your resume, Fix it Frank will be a success 👍 Hugs to all 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Alex u mentioned us watching the whole video for so long. Speaking for myself it's because of getting to see so much of everley and that beautiful bay! Kidding aside. Frank you did a beautiful job! Kuddos
On the subject of names, your dad has a superior name! Everly is growing so quickly. So cute!
hahah Chris is pretty great but Chrispy is greater lol
@@FnAVanLife Flattery will get you everywhere young lady!
The deck looks amazingly beautiful
I think it's so charming that you can believe weather forecasts. In the US, most forecasts include a "BWAAAHAHAHA! You believed that?!?!" Much love to you.
Yeah totally agree lol.
OMG!!! LOOK AT HER LITTLE BEE HAT!!!!❤❤❤
Lol she is the cutest 😍
Awesome job Frank, love Everlys sweet teeth smile and all the energy you put into your videos 👏🏻👍🏻Your whole family Rocks!!
Thank you so much!! This was big work but totally worth it!
OMG, Everly is so beautiful! What a smile! Yum yum yum.
Thank you we love getting to watch her grow.
OMG - I've never heard of "upper-decking" the whole toilet thing. Why? 😂😂😂 Still watching
College boys are disgusting 🫣
Frank beautiful deck! 🎉 Loved the whole hour! Thanks guys! ❤
Frank's a pro and does things right (built to last)! Refurb/remodel is tough work. Often find surprises/nightmares from the poor work of the previous guy who shortcuts it.
Finding other peoples nightmares seems to be our specially! hahah omg I should knock on wood with the purchase we're about to make LOL
You and your mom are twinning!!❤❤
that was awesome - I'm a fan of longer videos. Plus, Frank - EXCELLENT JOB!!
Love that Sherry! Our longer videos seem to be pretty popular so expect more of them :D
Great job on the deck Frank.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love your massive Deck, Frank. You are the man ! Great job. Thumbs up, from S. California.
Thank you kindly!
Alex darling, I could not get the oven cleaner lid off, so at 62, I had to hammer it on the side as no one around to ask for help.
They should not be that hard, 😂😂😂lol 😂😂😂😂😂
Great job putting the video together, Alex, and great job on your first deck, Frankie.
What I admire most is your willingness to tackle an unfamiliar job with the tenacity of doing your best to make it as good as you are able. 💪
It'll last, but future experienced Frank may look back and say "if only I knew then..." That's how life goes. What a long, strange trip it's been!
I think you'll enjoy the handyman journey. I've certainly enjoyed building skills. I like being good at engineering as well as implementation. I got a handle on carpentry (framing and trim), roofing ,plumbing, electrical, HVAC, insulation, tilework, flooring, sheetrock... If you're inquisitive and want to learn, you will!
Thank you so very much. I will be a master of all things one day, but I'll never stop learning and trying.

Well look, there's a difference between taking all these things up as hobbies to do for one's self and family and some friends versus mastering as a profession.
To be competitive on bidding it's a matter of focusing on getting fast at cranking out a rather narrow range of things. That's the mastery aspect. From estimating a job, pricing and scheduling materials, timing the start and finish, to cranking it out quickly, good enough, without dwelling on perfecting or being overly artistic.
Now when you're doing things for yourself and family you can afford to take time and spend extra to be more perfectionist and artistic. And you can delve into a much wider range of disciplines which you may never be fast at but enjoy doing. And you get to think through all the various aspects of the overall thing so you can plan all the systems coherently. It's common to see in custom homes where the plumbers, electricians, and HVAC installers all had to work around each other. In developments with model homes to choose from there's a high level design of where the pipes, wires, and ducts are all planned to go in advance which makes it more cohesive. When you can do this for a custom home, it's a big advantage.
Designing and building custom homes is a few levels past refurbishing a deck of course but it's a good start and a skill in need in which one can earn a good living.
Be prepared for some bureaucratic red tape. The big companies are busy trying to convince governments to pass restrictions and requirements, the excuse for which is safety but the reality is to limit entries to the field so they can monopolize it. Of course they'll never say that part out loud... It's safety... Do it for the children... Etc. They're gonna want you to pull permits, get govt employees to come out and critique your work at various stages before allowing you to continue, and of course charging you for the privilege of being subjected to their whims. You can work with them though since you have no choice but it's an additional cost to you that to be profitable you'll have to pass on to your customers. And you'd better be licensed, bonded, and insured before venturing into the general public. There's no end to the "nice people" who'd love to empty your pockets to fill theirs. And those who think hiring you for one job means they merit your undivided attention for the future. Beware. Use carefully written legal contracts approved by your lawyer outlining every last thing. It only seems excessive until you get served and have to defend yourself. Harsh reality.
But don't let it stop you. It's just part and parcel of doing business in the first world where the tactics of screwing other people over are highly refined.
Cheers!
Everlea is such a star! Just love watching you working while including her in most everything you do. We had a rotten blue deck like that that we replaced - suffered the same with screws and nails. Good job you guys!
Thank you. Yeah, that screw nail combo is a nightmare.
