US B1/B2 is the easiest visa to get if your reason is genuine. I was a student in US in 2011 when I had an accident and had back to back surgeries. My parents were dead nervous in India, some agent filled their US visa form on Friday, and found appointment for Monday itself. At that time, there was no separate day for VFS, everything was done in US embassy in New Delhi. My parents had no time to get any financial document or anything. They went to US embassy in Delhi with just their passports:
Visa officer: Purpose of visit to the US.
Parents: Parents told about the accident, and surgeries.
Visa Officer: Oh I am so sorry to hear. Which school?
    Parents:
Visa officer: Your visa is approved.
If it was UK/Europe/Canada, there was zero chance for approval as they ask for financial documents and what not. Because of US visa, my parents had easily received Canadian, British and schengen visa in record time. I am a Canadian citizen now, living and working permanently in India. But US would always be my first home, much before India or Canada or any country.
